The Kandhkelgaon Story: a bold bid by women in Kandhkelgaon Village, Saintala Block, Bolangir District, to break out of their poverty trap

    Get PDF
One third of the people on earth who are described as living in absolute poverty are found today in India. “These people,” says Mr B K Satpathy, “are caught in a poverty trap’.” “Poverty trap?” we ask. “These are creative weavers; their cloth has a distinctive style, but those who supply their thread also take away and sell the cloth, paying just a small labor cost for each saree. If they are skilled and work hard this amounts to only 25-30 rupees (60-70 US cents) per day.” Under this arrangement, weaving does not provide enough to live on, and people are seeking ways to escape their entrapment in poverty. Modelling and Simulation of Pseudolite-based Navigation: A GPS-independent Radio Navigation System

    Get PDF
The use of global positioning system (GPS) for precision guidance of weapons is being questioned due to its vulnerability of jamming and spoofing for non-military code users. In this paper a novel approach is proposed for guidance of weapons where use of GPS or other civilian Satellite-based navigation system is threatened. The proposed approach is modelled and simulated using SIMULINK for realistic trajectories and scenario. The results of simulation are validated with the actual GPS data

Chiral Solitons in a Current Coupled Schr\"odinger Equation With Self Interaction

Recently non-topological chiral soliton solutions were obtained in a derivatively coupled non-linear Schr\"odinger model in 1+1 dimensions. We extend the analysis to include a more general self-coupling potential (which includes the previous cases) and find chiral soliton solutions. Interestingly even the magnitude of the velocity is found to be fixed. Energy and U(1) charge associated with this non-topological chiral solitons are also obtained.Comment: 8 pages, no figure, to appear in Phys. Rev.
