    Service classification research: welcome back!

    No full text
The evolution and theories behind three popular service classification models (Customer Contact Model, Service Process Matrix, and Volume-Variety Model) are explored. In phase one of this research, a critical literature review reveals that the latter two models have ended up being quite similar to the well-known Product-Process Matrix in manufacturing. This first phase has also resulted in the formulation of six research inquiries related to these three models. In phase two, these research inquiries are addressed by analysing a set of empirically derived data. As a result, the Customer Contact Model is further developed. A number of questions are raised with regard to the validity of some of the theories behind the Service Process Matrix. Overall, the Volume-Variety Model is supported by the analysis. Finally, the question is answered whether it is better to use the manufacturing-based Product-Process Matrix, instead of the newly emerged models in service operations

Silica-supported imine palladacycles - recyclable catalysts for the Suzuki reaction?

    No full text
Silica-supported, imine-based palladacyclic catalysts have been synthesised and the crystal structure of complex 9, the triphenylphosphine adduct of the pre-supported precursor complex 8, has been determined. The solid-supported catalysts show considerably lower activity in the Suzuki reaction than their homogeneous counterparts. Poor recyclability of the silica-immobilised catalysts and the presence of active catalysts in solution indicate that imine-based palladacyclic catalysts are unstable with respect to liberation of zero-valent palladium species. Whilst the solid-supported complexes are not useful as catalysts, they do function as excellent mechanistic probes. Studies on model complexes give further information on the processes that cause the liberation of zero-valent species not only from the solid-supported catalysts, but also from homogeneous systems. In all cases it appears that a reductive-elimination event occurs to generate the active catalyst

The diagnosis of mental retardation with ADHD in children, statistically record 8% - 39%. Children with mental retardation, requires certain ways to maximize their potential and quality of life. The condition ADHD are likely brought certain challenges to the handling of these children. This article presents the description of mentally retarded children with ADHD in their natural setting, school and home. It’s a qualitative research, descriptive case study, with holistic multi-case design. Purposive sampling technique found two (2) children as research subjects. Pattern matching technique is used for data analysis. The result of this study shows challenges for school teacher while working with mentally retarded with ADHD children. Accommodate their ADHD in positive and productive activities, are likely helps the handling of their mental retardation conditio

    Ruthenium PCP-bis(phosphinite) pincer complexes

The reactions of [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)(3)] with resorcinol bis(phosphinite) pincer ligands lead to complexes of the general formula [RuCl(PCP)(CO)(PPh3)]; the crystal structure of one example has been determined. The structures of the bulky resorcinol 2-methyl4,6-di-tert-butyl resorcinol and its mono-diisopropylphosphinite derivative were also determined. Reactions of [RuCl2(PPh3)(3)] with resorcinot bis(phosphinite) ligands yield complexes of the type [RuCl(PCP)(PPh3)], while the reaction of C6H-2-Me-4,6-'Bu-2-1,3-(OPPh2) with [RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)(3)] provides a PCP-pincer complex in which the ligand has undergone 2-methyl C-H activation
