Physiotherapeutic approach in temporomandibular disorders in CEMDOR UFSC: an experience report

The aim of this work is to describe the physiotherapeutic activities developed at the Multidisciplinary Orofacial Pain Center (CEMDOR) of Dentistry at UFSC in the period from march to July of 2018. CEMDOR performs diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients with Temporomandibular Disorders (TMDs), Sleep Disorders and Orofacial Pain through the integration of several health areas. Together with the Dentistry students, physiotherapists participate in the anamneses and case studies, besides performing specific treatments of the area. These treatments are based on exercises, myofascial releases and trigger points, home guidelines, stretching, joint mobilization techniques, osteopathy, postural and respiratory reeducation, among others. During the treatments, it was possible to show improvement in the range of motion, pain, function recovery and strengthening of the musculoskeletal system. These findings demonstrate that physiotherapy plays a fundamental role in the improvement and control of TMDs and orofacial pain, improving patients' quality of life

Programa de Educação Tutorial em Odontologia e Fonoaudiologia da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina: um relato de experiência

O objetivo deste relato de experiência é relatar as atividades e projetos desenvolvidosno Programa de Educação Tutorial de Odontologia e Fonoaudiologia (PET Odonto-Fono) e demonstrar a importância da atuação multidisciplinar na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). O programaexiste desde 2010 e é formado por discentes e docentes dos cursos de graduação em Odontologia e Fonoaudiologia. O PET Odonto-Fono tem por essência estimular os valores de cidadania e consciência social, bem como elaborar alguns projetos: Capacitações internas, Clínica Integrada Odonto-Fono, PET baseado em Evidências, Projeto Workshop e Palestras, Informa PET, PET Monitoria, PET Tampinhas, Campanha da Cultura Indígena, Planeja PET, PETeca, CinePET, PET Publica e Grupo de Apoio PET. Portanto, o PET Odonto-Fono promove a transformação social e o enriquecimento da produção científica, além de contribuir naatuação multidisciplinar dos futuros profissionais, capacitando-os e demonstrando a importância doatendimento humanizado e dotrabalho em equipe

The aim of this work is to present the activities performed at the Multidisciplinary Center of Orofacial Pain at UFSC in Florianopolis. The CEMDOR performs the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients with Temporomandibular Disorders, Sleep Disorders and Orofacial Pain (TMD/SD/OFP) and aim mainly the recovery of function, pain relief and the improvement of the patients life quality, collaborating with their well-being. The patients are evaluated on the clinic and later the clinical cases are debated in classroom with the presence of professors of the Dentistry and Speech Therapy course. This activity allows the elaboration of treatment plans more complete and individualized. Moreover, this practice foments questions and increases knowledge. The services offered by CEMDOR are important and timely to the community due to the high incidence of patients with TMD/SD/OFP in the population, which affects the quality of life with high health impact

O CEMDOR realiza diagnóstico, tratamento e acompanhamento de pacientes com Disfunção Temporomandibular, Distúrbio do Sono e Dor Orofacial (DTM/DS/DOF) visando a recuperação da função, o alívio da dor e a melhora da qualidade de vida destes pacientes. Por meio da integração de diversas áreas da saúde, o centro busca o tratamento efetivo do paciente, colaborando com o seu bem-estar. Os pacientes são avaliados na clínica e posteriormente os casos clínicos são discutidos em sala de aula com a presença de professores do curso de Odontologia e Fonoaudiologia. Esta dinâmica permite a elaboração de planos de tratamentos mais completos e individualizados, fomentando os questionamentos e aumentando o nível de conhecimento dos estudantes. El CEMDOR realiza el diagnóstico, tratamiento y acompañamiento de pacientes portadores de Disfunción temporomandibular, Trastornos del Sueño y Dolor orofacial (DTM/TS/DOF) con el objetivo principalmente en la recuperación de la función, el alivio del dolor y busca mejorar la calidad de vida de los pacientes. Por medio de la integración de diversas áreas de la salud, el centro busca el tratamiento efectivo del paciente, colaborando con su bienestar. Los pacientes son evaluados en la clínica y posteriormente los casos clínicos son discutidos en el aula con la presencia de profesores del curso de Odontología y Fonoaudiología. Esta actividad permite la elaboración de planes de tratamientos más completos e individualizados, fomentando los cuestionamientos y aumentando el nivel de conocimiento de los estudiantes.
