Does Culture Affect Unemployment? Evidence from the Röstigraben
This paper studies the role of culture in shaping unemployment outcomes. The empirical analysis is based on local comparisons across a language barrier in Switzerland. This Röstigraben separates cultural groups, but neither labor markets nor political jurisdictions. Local contrasts across the language border identify the role of culture for unemployment. Our findings indicate that differences in culture explain differences in unemployment duration on the order of 20%. Moreover, we find that horizontal transmission of culture is more important than vertical transmission of culture and that culture is about as important as strong changes to the benefit duration.culture, cultural transmission, unemployment duration, regional unemployment

The demand for social insurance: does culture matter?
Can different social groups develop different demands for social insurance of risks to health and work? We study this issue across language groups in Switzerland. Language defines social groups and Swiss language groups are separated by a clear geographic border. Actual levels of social insurance are identical on either side of the within state segments of the language border. We can therefore study the role of culture in shaping the demand for social insurance. Specifically, we contrast at the language border actual voting decisions on country-wide changes to social insurance programs. Key results indicate substantially higher support for expansions of social insurance among residents of Latin-speaking (i.e. French, Italian, or Romansh) border municipalities compared to their German-speaking neighbors in adjacent municipalities. We consider three possible explanations for this finding: informal insurance, ideology, and the media. We find that informal insurance does not vary enough to explain stark differences in social insurance. However, differences in ideology and segmented media markets are potentially important explanatory factors.Culture, language, preferences for social insurance, spatial regression discontinuity

SzĂvinfarktuson átesett szemĂ©lyek Ă©s kontrollcsoport protektĂv pszicholĂłgiai tĂ©nyezĹ‘inek vizsgálata [Protective psychological factors in patients with myocardial infarct and in control group]
BevezetĂ©s: Számos kutatásban vizsgálták már a negatĂv Ă©rzelmek egĂ©szsĂ©gre gyakorolt hatását, azonban a pozitĂv pszicholĂłgiai tĂ©nyezĹ‘k egĂ©szsĂ©gĂĽgyi hatásait jĂłval kevesebben elemeztĂ©k. Az eddigi eredmĂ©nyek arra utalnak, hogy a pozitĂv pszicholĂłgiai tĂ©nyezĹ‘k fĂĽggetlen mĂłdon kapcsolĂłdnak a kardiovaszkuláris elĹ‘nyökhöz, tĂşl a negatĂv állapotok egyszerű hiányán. CĂ©lkitűzĂ©s: Pilot vizsgálatunkban szĂvinfarktuson átesett szemĂ©lyek Ă©s egĂ©szsĂ©ges kontrollszemĂ©lyek mintáján elemeztĂĽk az Ă©lettel valĂł elĂ©gedettsĂ©g, a pszicholĂłgiai jĂłllĂ©t, a társas támogatás, Ă©s a reziliencia szintjĂ©t, összehasonlĂtva a rizikĂłtĂ©nyezĹ‘k közĂĽl a stressz-szel Ă©s a szorongással. A mintában összesen 60 fĹ‘ vett rĂ©szt, csoportonkĂ©nt 30-30 fĹ‘ (átlagĂ©letkor: 55 Ă©v). A betegcsoport papĂr-ceruza formában, a kontrollcsoport online töltötte ki a kĂ©rdĹ‘Ăveket. EredmĂ©nyek: Az Ă©lettel valĂł elĂ©gedettsĂ©g, a pszicholĂłgiai jĂłllĂ©t Ă©s a multidimenzionális társas támogatás barátok alskálája esetĂ©ben a szĂvbetegek alacsonyabb Ă©rtĂ©ket mutattak a kontrollcsoporthoz viszonyĂtva. A társas támogatás mĂ©rtĂ©ke mindkĂ©t vizsgálati csoportban negatĂv kapcsolatban állt a szorongással Ă©s az Ă©szlelt stressz-szinttel. KövetkeztetĂ©s: Kutatásunk eredmĂ©nyei felhĂvják a figyelmet a protektĂv pszicholĂłgiai tĂ©nyezĹ‘k vizsgálatának fontosságára egĂ©szsĂ©ges szemĂ©lyek Ă©s a szĂvbetegek körĂ©ben egyaránt
Szorongás, depressziĂł, egĂ©szsĂ©gkontrollhit Ă©s az egĂ©szsĂ©g-magatartással valĂł kapcsolatuk ischaemiás szĂvbetegek körĂ©ben
Absztrakt
BevezetĂ©s: Az ischaemiás szĂvbetegsĂ©g vezetĹ‘ haláloknak számĂt
hazánkban. Kialakulásában és a betegség prognózisában is kiemelkedő szerepet
játszanak a mentális és az életmódbeli tényezők. Célkitűzés:
Ischaemiás szĂvbetegek körĂ©ben a szorongás, a depressziĂł Ă©s az egĂ©szsĂ©ggel
kapcsolatos kontrollérzés, valamint az egészség-magatartások összefüggéseinek
elemzése. Módszer: Keresztmetszeti vizsgálatban 116
kardiológiai rehabilitációs osztályon fekvő beteg vett részt (56,9% férfi,
átlagéletkor: 57,65±8,22 év). Eredmények: A betegek 30,9%-a
számolt be megemelkedett szorongásról és 21,9%-a depressziós hangulatról. Az
egészségkontrollhit tekintetében e betegek körében a más személyek befolyásában
Következtetések: A kardiológiai rehabilitáció során fontos
a szĂvbetegsĂ©ggel kapcsolatos mentális tĂ©nyezĹ‘k átfogĂł vizsgálata Ă©s szĂĽksĂ©g
esetén adekvát pszichológiai intervenciók alkalmazása. Orv. Hetil., 2015,
