The Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) and its Aftermath in Contemporary World Affairs

    Get PDF
As the conception of security consolidates our prosperity to evolve on this planet that revolutionises our social norms and values from time-to-time, it also encounters threats and challenges that could potentially deliver a massive impact to the world. For instance, such security dilemmas would result in transforming the world order, international relations or even the lives of billions. This is the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic of 2019 (COVID-19) and it has changed the world for an indefinite period. Thus, it has forced us into a new phase, new norms and a new world. This paper will examine how this coronavirus outbreak has political, economic and social impacts on the world order through the lens of international relations

The effect of self-regulated strategy development on the writing of seventh-grade students with exceptional education needs

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) on the writing of students with exceptional education needs. Would teaching the methods of SRSD to seventh-grade students with exceptional education needs prove valuable in improving the clarity and quality of their writing? In order to determine the effects of this approach on students’ writing, four students wrote one persuasive essay and one research report during the 2013 - 2014 academic year (pre-instruction in SRSD). These essays were evaluated by the researcher and self-evaluated by each student according to an evaluation rubric (see Appendix A) based on the work of Harris, Graham, Mason, and Friedlander (2008, p. 373). Students then received instruction in SRSD. The instruction aimed to increase meta-cognition, teach students specific self-talk and self-monitoring skills, and provide explicit instruction in composition development and revision strategies for persuasive essays and research reports. Upon completion of each unit of instruction (research report and persuasive essay), the students wrote a corresponding essay and or revised an existing one using the strategies that were taught. These essays were then evaluated by the researcher and self-evaluated by each student according to the same evaluation rubric. The pre-, and post-instruction writing scores were then compared to determine whether any statistically significant improvement occurred. By evaluating the effectiveness of this instruction, I was able to determine whether I should continue using this method with students. This research will contribute to educators’ understanding of how the SRSD approach works and its effectiveness with seventh-grade students with exceptional education needs. Other educators would be able to use the results of this research to aid in their decision of whether they should spend valuable class time teaching this writing method. If SRSD should prove useful with this population, more educators may devote their time and resources to learning and teaching this method; if not, educators could more efficiently spend their time following another method or plan for teaching writing skills

    On the Dirac Scattering Problem

    Get PDF
We consider a method of solving the Dirac scattering problem based on an approach previously used by the authors to solve the Schrodinger scattering problem to develop a conditional exact scattering solution and an unconditional series solution. We transform the Dirac scattering problem into a form that facilitates a soltuion based on the relativistic Lippmann-Schwinger equation using the relativistic Green\u27s function that is transcendental in terms of the scattered field. Using the Dirac operator, this solution is transformed further to yield a modified relativistic Lippman-Schwinger equation that is also transcendental in terms of the scattered field. This modified solution faclitates a condition under which the solution for the scattered field is exact. Further, by exploiting the simultaneity of the two solutions available , we show that it is possible to define an exact (non-conditional) series solution to the problem

The Fractional Schrodinger-Klein-Gordon Equation and Intermediate Relativism

By considering a random walk model compounded in Einstein\u27s evolution equation, we show that both the classical Schrodinger and Klein-Gordon equations can be viewed a s consequence of introducing a memory function. The purpose of this is to derive a wave equaiton that, on a phenomenological basis at least, describes the transitional characteristics of wave functions for spin-less particles that may exist in the intermediate of semi relativistic regime
