The correlation between low back pain and strength training in elite athletes: a literature review
This study aims to analyze the correlation between LBP and elite athletes who practice sports where strength training intervenes via weightlifting. To analyse the correlation between low back pain and athletes who practice sports where strength training programs, a narrative review was conducted by two independent author through MEDLINE database search. Inclued study’s methodology quality has been evaluated using NIH quality assessment tool for Observational Cohort and Cross-Sectional Studies. Out of 830 retrieved articles, after titles, abstracts and full text assessment, four studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the present narrative review. The NIH total score ranged from 10 to 12 points. Demographic and sport-specific factors can influence the prevalence of LBP. Our findings highlight the importance of developing future research to provide prevention programs to reduce the incidence of LBP, taking into account the demographics of athletes and the unique nature of their sport activity
Mid-circuit qubit measurement and rearrangement in a Yb atomic array
Measurement-based quantum error correction relies on the ability to determine
the state of a subset of qubits (ancillae) within a processor without revealing
or disturbing the state of the remaining qubits. Among neutral-atom based
platforms, a scalable, high-fidelity approach to mid-circuit measurement that
retains the ancilla qubits in a state suitable for future operations has not
yet been demonstrated. In this work, we perform imaging using a
narrow-linewidth transition in an array of tweezer-confined Yb atoms to
demonstrate nondestructive state-selective and site-selective detection. By
applying site-specific light shifts, selected atoms within the array can be
hidden from imaging light, which allows a subset of qubits to be measured while
causing only percent-level errors on the remaining qubits. As a
proof-of-principle demonstration of conditional operations based on the results
of the mid-circuit measurements, and of our ability to reuse ancilla qubits, we
perform conditional refilling of ancilla sites to correct for occasional atom
loss, while maintaining the coherence of data qubits. Looking towards true
continuous operation, we demonstrate loading of a magneto-optical trap with a
minimal degree of qubit decoherence.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figure
The coexistence of peace and conflict in South America: toward a new conceptualization of types of peace
South America's predominant democratic regimes and its increasing interdependence on regional trade have not precluded the emergence of militarized crises between Colombia and Venezuela or the revival of boundary claims between Chile and Peru. This way, how can we characterize a zone that, in spite of its flourishing democracy and dense economic ties, remain involved in territorial disputes for whose resolution the use of force has not yet been discarded? This article contends that existing classifications of zones of peace are not adequate to explain this unusual coexistence. Thus, its main purpose is to develop a new analytical category of regional peace for assessing this phenomenon: the hybrid peace. It aims to research the evolution of security systems in South America during the previous century and build a new, threefold classification of peace zones: negative peace zones, hybrid peace zones, and positive peace zones
Stress and coping patterns of participants and non-participants in self-help groups for parents of the mentally ill
The authors examined differences in stress and coping patterns as well as in situationally-related variables between participants and non-participants in self-help groups for parents of the mentally ill in Israel. Participants, who were higher on socio-economic status indicators, reported coping patterns that tended to be both more active and interactive. They also reported greater concerns around psycho-social issues than non-participants. A decomposition theorem for homogeneous sets with respect to diamond probes
An unknown planar discrete set of points A can be inspected by means of a probe P of generic shape that moves around it, and reveals, for each position, the number of its elements as a magnifying glass. All the data collected during this process can be naturally arranged in an integer matrix that we call the scan of the starting set A w.r.t. the probe P. In [10], Nivat conjectured that a discrete set whose scan w.r.t. an exact probe is k-homogeneous, shows a strong periodical behavior, and it can be decomposed into smaller 1-homogeneous subsets. In this paper, we prove this conjecture to be true when the probe is a diamond, and then we extend this result to exact polyominoes that can regarded as balls in a generalized L-1 norm of Z(2). Then we provide experimental evidence that the conjecture holds for each exact polyomino of small dimension, using the mathematical software Sage [13]. Finally, we give some hints to solve the related reconstruction problem
