    Impact of Digital Education on Learning Behavior of Undergraduates

    Present study examines the impact digital education on learning behaviour of undergraduates in terms of Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, Psychological Wellbeing and E-classroom interaction. The background of the study is the point in Madhya Pradesh in response to the COVID-19 virtual educational environment. To measure the learning behaviour indicators used in the present study, a survey was conducted on the total of 385 undergraduates taking digital education. The data were analyses using the structural equation modelling. Results showed that the digital education has positive impact on all the learning behaviour predictors used in the present study. The findings showed that psychological wellbeing and e-classroom interaction were improved with the experiences and time. Results suggest that satisfaction with digital education can be further improved by developing e-classes that are easy to use, focusing on the features that are frequently used by the undergraduates. In addition, educational institutes provide training and advice to increase students’ psychological wellbeing

    ENHANCED p53-DEPENDENT GROWTH INHIBITION OF HUMAN GLIOBLASTOMA CELLS BY COMBINATORIAL TREATMENT OF TEMOZOLOMIDE AND NOVEL PURIFIED NATURAL CARBOHYDRATE OF PLEUROTUS FLORIDA

    Objective: This study was designed to analyze the combinatorial chemotherapeutic effect of temozolomide (TMZ), the most common drug in glioblastoma treatment and a purified carbohydrate (Fr-II) from the edible mushroom Pleurotus florida, on human glioblastoma cell lines.Methods: Fr-II was purified by size-exclusion chromatography and characterised by different mass spectroscopy analysis. Human glioblastoma cells were treated with TMZ, Fr-II, and combination of TMZ and Fr-II. Cell cytotoxicity was measured by MTT assay, cell cycle phase distribution was determined by cell cycle analysis and followed by the relative p53 protein expression was analyzed by western blot analysis.Results: Chemical analysis of Fr-II confirmed the glycosidically linked two units of glucose with terminally attached mannitol with mass of 506 Da. Fr-II treatment exhibited cytotoxicity in both the cell lines in a dose-dependent manner with most effective dose at 200µg/ml. When Fr-II (200µg/ml) was combined with a dose range of TMZ it showed a more cellular cytotoxicity compared to the cytotoxicity of TMZ alone with most oppressive combinatorial dose at 400µM (TMZ)+200µg/ml (Fr-II). In compliance, with the above results, both cell lines showed a 10% increase in no. of cells (p<0.05) in G2/M phase indicating an arrest of cell cycle and increased p53 protein expression (p<0.05) at the combinatorial dose than TMZ alone at 400µM, but Fr-II alone didn't show any cell cycle arrest nor did it show increased p53 expression.Conclusion: Therefore it confirms that Fr-II synergizes with TMZ to significantly intensify its anti-proliferative properties, thereby emerging as an effective element for combinatorial treatment of glioblastoma

    Finishing the euchromatic sequence of the human genome

    The sequence of the human genome encodes the genetic instructions for human physiology, as well as rich information about human evolution. In 2001, the International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium reported a draft sequence of the euchromatic portion of the human genome. Since then, the international collaboration has worked to convert this draft into a genome sequence with high accuracy and nearly complete coverage. Here, we report the result of this finishing process. The current genome sequence (Build 35) contains 2.85 billion nucleotides interrupted by only 341 gaps. It covers ∼99% of the euchromatic genome and is accurate to an error rate of ∼1 event per 100,000 bases. Many of the remaining euchromatic gaps are associated with segmental duplications and will require focused work with new methods. The near-complete sequence, the first for a vertebrate, greatly improves the precision of biological analyses of the human genome including studies of gene number, birth and death. Notably, the human enome seems to encode only 20,000-25,000 protein-coding genes. The genome sequence reported here should serve as a firm foundation for biomedical research in the decades ahead

    BUILDING PSYCHOLOGICAL WELLBEING THROUGH STORY READING IN LITERATURE UNDERGRADUATES: AN INTERVENTION OUTCOME

    Psychological Wellbeing in students has recently have lot of attention, especially after the pandemic outburst. Positive psychological intervention was proved as helpful in promoting psychological wellbeing and it is also connected with the story reading intervention; stories which support positive indicators. This study showed the effect of story reading intervention on positive indicators of psychological wellbeing over time for a group of literature undergraduates (n=60). This included 8 stories provided to the intervention group only for comparison with control group. The result showed that story reading led to improvement in students’ positive constructs over a period of eight weeks. The obtained results are discussed in the context of their implications for story reading intervention in higher educational institutions

    Abstract Polysaccharides are structurally complex and essential constituents of life, and therefore, studies directed to these kinds of molecules have received scientific attention. Despite an easy availability of Dolichos biflorus Linn and Trachyspermum ammi (Linn) seeds isolation, characterization and antimicrobial studies of polysaccharides derived from these two natural sources have not been investigated. Therefore, we report here isolation of polysaccharides, their purification and characterization from Dolichos biflorus Linn and Trachyspermum ammi (Linn) seeds. Gel permeation chromatography, GC–MS, SEM, XRD, EDX and FT-IR analyses show the presence of three pentose sugar such as d-ribose, d-arabinose, d-xylose and hexose sugar such as d-mannose, d-galactose and d-glucose. Unprecedented antimicrobial activity of these polysaccharides against Gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis and Gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are established

    State of the Art Research on Sustainable Use of Water Hyacinth: A Bibliometric and Text Mining Analysis

    This study aims to present a systematic data-driven bibliometric analysis of the water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) infestation problem around the globe. As many solutions are being proposed in academia for its management, mitigation, and utilization, it requires investigation through a systematic scrutinizing lens. In this study, literature records from 1977 to June 2020 concerning research on water hyacinth are taken from Scopus for text analysis. Trends in the publication of different article types, dynamics of publication, clustering, correlation, and co-authoring patterns between different countries are observed. The cluster analysis indicated four clusters viz. (i) ecological works related to species, (ii) pollutant removal process and methods, (iii) utilization of biofuels for biogas production, and (iv) modelling works. It is clear from the networking analysis that most of the publications regarding water hyacinth are from India, followed by China and the United States. Sentiment analysis with the AFINN lexicon showed that the negative sentiment towards the aquatic weed has intensified over time. An exploratory analysis was performed using a bigram network plot, depicting and outlining different important domains of water hyacinth research. Water hyacinth research has passed the pioneering phase and is now at the end of a steady growth phase or at the beginning of an acceleration phase. In this article, an overview is given for the entirety of water hyacinth research, with an indication of future trends and possibilities
