Removal of the seal area from the path of the lamp discharge eliminates the gradual deterioration of lithium fluoride window surfaces from condensation of products formed by interaction of a resonant rare-gas discharge with window sealing materials. The discharge is confined to the inner tube

The Spin and Flavour Dependence of High-Energy Photoabsorption

We review the present data on high-energy, spin-dependent photoabsorption. We find a strong isotriplet term in (σAσP)(\sigma_A - \sigma_P) which persists from Q20.25Q^2 \sim 0.25GeV2^2 to high Q2Q^2 polarised deep inelastic scattering. For Q24Q^2 \sim 4GeV2^2 and xx between 0.01 and 0.12 the isotriplet part of g1g_1 behaves as g1(pn)x12g_1^{(p-n)} \sim x^{-{1 \over 2}}, in contrast to soft Regge theory which predicts that g1(pn)g_1^{(p-n)} should converge as x0x \to 0. The isotriplet, polarised structure function 2xg1(pn)2x g_1^{(p-n)} is significantly greater than the isotriplet, unpolarised structure function F2(pn)F_2^{(p-n)} in this kinematic region. We analyse the low Q2Q^2 photoabsorption data from E-143 and SMC and use this data to estimate the high-energy Regge contribution to the Drell-Hearn-Gerasimov sum-rule.Comment: 19 pages, LaTeX, 3 figures generated as g1,g1F2 and A1.te

“Resistance is our Culture”: An Archival Exploration of Oromo Diaspora Organizing

    Get PDF
The Oromo people of the Horn of Africa have been engaged in a struggle for liberation and justice since their colonization by the Abyssinian Empire in the 1880s. Despite, beyond, and against this discursive violence, Oromo people have been creating liberatory spaces and alternative stories of Oromo life. In this article I explore resistance writing and organizational materials created by members of the Oromo diaspora in the 1970s and 1980s. This archival collection, housed in Berlin, Germany, shares a story of transnational solidarity. It also demonstrates the power of the archive itself as an active participant in documenting, remembering, and supporting the Oromo struggle

The Impact of a Clinical Faculty Institute on Participants\u27 Skills for Mentoring Novice Teachers, Grades K-8

    Get PDF
A seven-day Clinical Faculty Institute was implemented to increase the skills of mentor teachers and to develop a cadre of Clinical Faculty for the four participating colleges and universities. The 128 participants entered with some confidence in their ability to mentor novice teachers in areas typically taught in methods courses; whereas, they displayed minimal confidence in skills typically taught in supervisory courses. By the end of the Institute, participants showed significant changes in their self-perceptions of skills in twenty areas, with post-scores clustering between 3.5 and 3.9 on a four-point scale. Future institutes should focus on supervisory skills and then emphasize more reflection upon the congruence of teaching, with the best practices articulated in national standards
