    Crafting a Systematic Literature Review on Open-Source Platforms

    This working paper unveils the crafting of a systematic literature review on open-source platforms. The high-competitive mobile devices market, where several players such as Apple, Google, Nokia and Microsoft run a platforms- war with constant shifts in their technological strategies, is gaining increasing attention from scholars. It matters, then, to review previous literature on past platforms-wars, such as the ones from the PC and game-console industries, and assess its implications to the current mobile devices platforms-war. The paper starts by justifying the purpose and rationale behind this literature review on open-source platforms. The concepts of open-source software and computer-based platforms were then discussed both individually and in unison, in order to clarify the core-concept of 'open-source platform' that guides this literature review. The detailed design of the employed methodological strategy is then presented as the central part of this paper.     Open Semantic Service Networks: modeling and analysis

    A new interesting research area is the representation and analysis of the networked economy using Open Semantic Service Networks (OSSN). OSSN are represented using the service description language USDL to model nodes and using the service relationship model OSSR to model edges. Nonetheless, in their current form USDL and OSSR do not provide constructs to capture the dynamic behavior of service networks. To bridge this gap, we used the General System Theory (GST) as a framework guiding the extension of USDL and OSSR to model dynamic OSSN. We evaluated the extensions made by applying USDL and OSSR to two distinct types of dynamic OSSN analysis: 1) evolutionary by using a Preferential Attachment (PA) and 2) analytical by using concepts from System Dynamics (SD). Results indicate that OSSN can constitute the first stepping stones toward the analysis of global service-based economies

    Calculating Service Fitness in Service Networks ⋆

    Abstract. Inspired by the biological perspective of service ecosystems, we propose to define the fitness of services in service networks. In our work, we show how to calculate the service fitness from the provider perspective using locally available information as a reflection of the position of the service in the service network. For that purpose we define a fitness corridor with upper and lower bounds that confine the service fitness area. After establishing a fitness corridor, we show how to calibrate the fitness calculation parameters to better reflect the service market and how to use the calculated fitness trends for making decisions about the provisioning of a service.

    International audienceVirtual Organizations (VO) have emerged as a new type of interorganizational relationship for dealing with emerging challenges. The information system support for a VO poses new challenges to system design. Recent works define three levels of abstraction, namely an intentional level, an organizational level, and an operational level. For such a staged design, it is fundamental that artifacts defined on the different layers are consistent with each other. We address this problem based on a transformation approach. We illustrate the transformation from the intentional level towards the organizational level based on the 360◦ VisiOn and the BPMN process modeling language. The approach has been implemented in a prototype and validated using a case study from a regional stockbreeder union in Mexico

    A 360° Vision for Virtual Organizations Characterization and Modelling: Two Intentional Level Aspects

    International audienceNowadays, organizations aiming to be successful in an increasingly competitive market tend to group together into virtual organizations. Designing the information system (IS) of such virtual organizations on the basis of the IS of those participating is a real challenge. The IS of a virtual organization plays an important role in the collaboration and cooperation of the participants organizations and in reaching the common goal. This article proposes criteria allowing virtual organizations to be identified and classified at an intentional level, as well as the information necessary for designing the organizations' IS. Instantiation of criteria for a specific virtual organization and its participants, will allow simple graphical models to be generated in a modelling tool. The models will be used as bases for the IS design at organizational and operational levels. The approach is illustrated by the example of the virtual organization UGRT (a regional stockbreeders union in Tabasco, Mexico)

    SOAF- Design and Implementation of a Service enriched Social Network

    Abstract. In this paper, we propose the integration of services into social networks (SOAF- Service of a Friend) to leverage the creation of the Internet of Services vision. We show how to integrate services and humans into a common network structure and discuss design and implementation issues. In particular, we discuss the required extensions to existing social network vocabulary with regard to services. We illustrate a scenario where this network structures can be applied in the context of service discovery and highlight the benefit of a service-enriched social network structure.
