Charge breaking bounds in the Zee model
We study the possibility that charge breaking minima occur in the Zee model.
We reach very different conclusions from those attained in simpler, two Higgs
doublet models, and the reason for this is traced back to the existence of
cubic terms in the potential. A scan of the Zee model's parameter space shows
that CB is restricted to a narrow region of values of the parameters
EM-105 Expansion of Urban Area in Irrigation Districts of the Rio Grande River Basin, 1996 - 2006: A Map Series
The border region of Texas is experiencing rapid urban growth which is expected to have a continuing and increasing impact on the irrigation districts of the region. This report presents an analysis of the expansion of urban area during the ten year period from 1996 to 2006 in portions of the Rio Grande Basin.
This report includes maps of five counties: El Paso, Maverick, Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy, which show the expansion of urban area over this ten year period. Also, shown on the maps are the service areas of 30 irrigation districts. Individual maps of the districts have been distributed to each district and are posted at http://idea.tamu.edu.
Hudspeth and Presidio Counties (and their associated irrigation districts: Hudspeth County Conservation and Reclamation District No.1 and Presidio County Water Improvement District No.1) are not included in this map series due to insignificant urban growth
Inelaticity in hadron-nucleus collisions from emulsion chamber studies
The inelasticity of hadron-carbon nucleus collisions in the energy region
exceeding 100 TeV is estimated from the carbon-emulsion chamber data at Pamirs
to be . When combined with the recently presented data on
hadron-lead nucleus collisions taken at the same energy range it results in the
mass number dependence of inelasticity. The evaluated partial
inelasticity for secondary () interactions, ,
suggests that the second and higher interactions of the excited hadron inside

Foeniculum vulgare Essential Oils: Chemical Composition, Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Activities
The essential oils from Foeniculum vulgare commercial aerial parts and fruits were isolated by hydrodistillation, with different distillation times (30 min, I h, 2 h and 3 h), and analyzed by GC and GC-MS. The antioxidant ability was estimated using four distinct methods. Antibacterial activity was determined by the agar diffusion method. Remarkable differences, and worrying from the quality and safety point of view, were detected in the essential oils. trans-Anethole (31-36%), alpha-pinene (14-20%) and limonene (11-13%) were the main components of the essentials oil isolated from F. vulgare dried aerial parts, whereas methyl chavicol (= estragole) (79-88%) was dominant in the fruit oils. With the DPPH method the plant oils showed better antioxidant activity than the fruits oils. With the TBARS method and at higher concentrations, fennel essential oils showed a pro-oxidant activity. None of the oils showed a hydroxyl radical scavenging capacity >50%, but they showed an ability to inhibit 5-lipoxygenase. The essential oils showed a very low antimicrobial activity. Electroweak Corrections to the Top Quark Decay
We have calculated the one-loop electroweak corrections to the decay t-> bW+,
including the counterterm for the CKM matrix elements V(tb). Previous
calculations used an incorrect delta V(tb) that led to a gauge dependent
amplitude. However, since the contribution stemming from delta V(tb) is small,
those calculations only underestimate the width by roughly one part in 10^5.Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure
Static quantities of a neutral bilepton in the 331 model with right-handed neutrinos
A neutral vector boson can possess static electromagnetic properties provided
that the associated field is no self-conjugate. This possibility is explored in
the model with right-handed neutrinos, which
predicts a complex neutral gauge boson in a nontrivial representation of
the electroweak group. In this model the only nonvanishing form factors are the
CP-even ones, which arise from both the quark and gauge sectors, and contribute
to the magnetic dipole and the electric quadrupole moments of this neutral

Singular kernels, multiscale decomposition of microstructure, and dislocation models
We consider a model for dislocations in crystals introduced by Koslowski,
Cuiti\~no and Ortiz, which includes elastic interactions via a singular kernel
behaving as the norm of the slip. We obtain a sharp-interface limit
of the model within the framework of -convergence. From an analytical
point of view, our functional is a vector-valued generalization of the one
studied by Alberti, Bouchitt\'e and Seppecher to which their rearrangement
argument no longer applies. Instead we show that the microstructure must be
approximately one-dimensional on most length scales and exploit this property
to derive a sharp lower bound
Superconducting cavity transducer for resonant gravitational radiation antennas
Parametric transducers, such as superconducting rf cavities, can boost the
bandwidth and sensitivity of the next generation resonant antennas, thanks to a
readily available technology. We have developed a fully coupled dynamic model
of the system "antenna--transducer" and worked out some estimates of
signal--to--noise ratio and the stability conditions in various experimental
configurations. We also show the design and the prototype of a rf cavity which,
together with a suitable read--out electronic, will be used as a test bench for
