Time-Reversal Symmetry Breaking and Decoherence in Chaotic Dirac Billiards
In this work, we perform a statistical study on Dirac Billiards in the
extreme quantum limit (a single open channel on the leads). Our numerical
analysis uses a large ensemble of random matrices and demonstrates the
preponderant role of dephasing mechanisms in such chaotic billiards. Physical
implementations of these billiards range from quantum dots of graphene to
topological insulators structures. We show, in particular, that the role of
finite crossover fields between the universal symmetries quickly leaves the
conductance to the asymptotic limit of unitary ensembles. Furthermore, we show
that the dephasing mechanisms strikingly lead Dirac billiards from the extreme
quantum regime to the semiclassical Gaussian regime

Learning design for software engineering courses
This paper presents a customization of a learning design approach, OULDI, to designing and implementing Software Engineering courses. We propose an iterative process for the application of the OULDI views. This process starts with a course map view and follows a series of steps that ends with the evaluation of the design reflecting on the balance of the proposed activities. A case study is presented in which two institutions were involved in the design and implementation of an experimental software engineering course. Feedback from students, designers and lecturers was collected to support the validation of the design and implementation of the course. This showed that learning design, with the process proposed here, is a feasible approach for the design of software engineering courses

A study of the bioactivity, hemocompatibility and antimicrobial properties of a zinc oxide and calcium phosphate composite for bone regeneration
Abstract The need for the reconstruction of large bone defects is an issue that arouses great interest in the field of materials science. The development of synthetic grafts similar to bone tissue is a promising option. Thus, this study proposes the synthesis of a zinc oxide and calcium phosphate composite in order to evaluate both its properties and its potential for bone applications. The synthesis of the HAp/TCP@ZnO composite was carried out in two stages; first, the precipitation method was employed. In the second stage, the ZnO was incorporated into the powder produced in the first stage. After the characterization of the material, the presence of HAp in its X-ray diffractogram as the major phase and TCP as the secondary phase was verified; moreover, ZnO peaks were also detected. Tests in a simulated body fluid indicated that the composite was highly bioactive, whereas hemolysis tests confirmed its non-toxicity. The addition of 10.0% of ZnO to the biomaterial provided it with antimicrobial properties
