The anisotropic XY model on the inhomogeneous periodic chain

The static and dynamic properties of the anisotropic XY-model $(s=1/2)$ on the inhomogeneous periodic chain, composed of $N$ cells with $n$ different exchange interactions and magnetic moments, in a transverse field $h,$ are determined exactly at arbitrary temperatures. The properties are obtained by introducing the Jordan-Wigner fermionization and by reducing the problem to a diagonalization of a finite matrix of $nth$ order. The quantum transitions are determined exactly by analyzing, as a function of the field, the induced magnetization 1/n\sum_{m=1}^{n}\mu_{m}\left ($j$ denotes the cell, $m$ the site within the cell, $\mu_{m}$ the magnetic moment at site $m$ within the cell) and the spontaneous magnetization $1/n\sum_{m=1}^{n}\left< S_{j,m}^{x},\right>$ which is obtained from the correlations $\left< S_{j,m}^{x}S_{j+r,m}^{x}\right>$ for large spin separations. These results, which are obtained for infinite chains, correspond to an extension of the ones obtained by Tong and Zhong(\textit{Physica B} \textbf{304,}91 (2001)). The dynamic correlations, $\left< S_{j,m}^{z}(t)S_{j^{\prime},m^{\prime}}^{z}(0)\right>$, and the dynamic susceptibility, $\chi_{q}^{zz}(\omega),$ are also obtained at arbitrary temperatures. Explicit results are presented in the limit T=0, where the critical behaviour occurs, for the static susceptibility $\chi_{q}^{zz}(0)$ as a function of the transverse field $h$, and for the frequency dependency of dynamic susceptibility $\chi_{q}^{zz}(\omega)$.Comment: 33 pages, 13 figures, 01 table. Identificação e caracterização dos principais solos do município de Coruripe, Alagoas.

RESUMO: A caracterização do solo é fundamental para avaliar o seu comportamento sob diferentes usos. O estudo de solos tem como objetivo subsidiar o planejamento agroambiental do município. Coruripe localiza-se na Mesorregião do Leste Alagoano e tem como atividade o cultivo de cana-de-açúcar. Foram mapeadas as classes Latossolo, Argissolo, Espodossolo, Gleissolo, Neossolo Quartzarênico, Organossolo e solos de mangue. Nas unidades de mapeamento LAd (Latossolos) e PAd (Argissolos Amarelos), os solos ocorrem em relevo plano e suave ondulado, são profundos e apresentam baixa fertilidade. Corrigindo a fertilidade, esses ambientes podem se tornar mais produtivos. A unidade PACd (Argissolo Acinzentado) apresenta fertilidade muito baixa, pouca retenção de umidade e drenagem deficiente. Portanto, é um ambiente com baixo potencial agrícola. Na unidade PVAd, os Argissolos Vermelho-Amarelos apresentam relevo forte ondulado, alto risco de erosão e devem ser destinados à preservação. Fazendo-se a drenagem e corrigindo-se a fertilidade, a unidade GXd (Gleissolo) torna-se um ambiente com alto potencial para produção de hortaliças, cana-de-açúcar e pastagens. As unidades ESKo (Espodossolo), OJs (Organossolo) e SM (Solos de Mangue) apresentam baixa fertilidade, drenagem deficiente e baixo potencial agrícola

Prostaglandina f2&#945; como indutor de ovulação em novilhas púberes.

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito da Prostaglandina F2&#945; (PGF) como indutor de ovulação em novilhas leiteiras. Treze novilhas púberes foram submetidas à sincronização de cio, e no Dia 5 da onda folicular receberam: 1) 1mg de BE (Grupo BE); 2) 500µg de PGF (Grupo PG) ou nenhum tratamento (Grupo Controle). Todas as novilhas ovularam, no entanto, os grupos BE e PG ovularam antes do Grupo CTL (P < 0,05). Estes resultados demonstram que a PGF é capaz de induzir a ovulação em novilhas leiteiras

Manejo de pragas exóticas em florestas de eucalipto.

Resumo: As pragas exóticas do eucalipto o psilideo-de-concha Glycaspis brimblecombei (Hemiptera: Psyllidae), o percevejo bronzeado Thaumastocoris peregrinus (Hemiptera: Thaumastocoridae) e a vespa-de-galha Leptocybe invasa (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), tem comprometido o desenvolvimento de espécies e clones de eucalipto no Brasil, Sistemas de monitoramento, baseado no uso de armadilhas adesivas tem sido utilizados. As principais estratégias de manejo dessas pragas são baseadas em controle biológico clássico, com importação e liberação de inimigos naturais, e avaliação de material genético de eucalipto resistente. Summary: The exotic pests of eucalyptus redgum lerp psyllid Glycaspis brimblecombei (Hemiptera: Psyllidae), the bronze bug Thaumastocoris peregrinus (Hemiptera: Thaumastocoridae) and gall wasp Leptocybe invasiva (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), has compromised the development of Eucalyptus species and clones in Brazil. Monitoring systems, based on the use of sticky traps have been used. The main management strategies for these pests are based on classical biological control, with import and release of natural enemies, and evaluation of resistant genetic material to the exotic pests

Multimode Hong-Ou-Mandel Interferometry

We review some recent experiments based upon multimode two-photon interference of photon pairs created by spontaneous parametric down-conversion. The new element provided by these experiments is the inclusion of the transverse spatial profiles of the pump, signal and idler fields. We discuss multimode Hong-Ou-Mandel interference, and show that the transverse profile of the pump beam can be manipulated in order to control two-photon interference. Exchange Gate on the Qudit Space and Fock Space

We construct the exchange gate with small elementary gates on the space of qudits, which consist of three controlled shift gates and three "reverse" gates. This is a natural extension of the qubit case. We also consider a similar subject on the Fock space, but in this case we meet with some different situation. However we can construct the exchange gate by making use of generalized coherent operator based on the Lie algebra su(2) which is a well--known method in Quantum Optics.
