    Effects of Soybean Aphid, Aphis glycines on Soybean Growth and Yield

    Population dynamics of the soybean aphid, Aphis glycines and its effects on soybean growth and yield were surveyed in 1989-1990. Experiments were conducted in the naturally infested plots and in the treated plots using 10% enhanced Dimethoate. In 1989, soybean aphids in the untreated plots developed earlier and increased rapidly. Aphid density per 100 plants on June 15th was over 10,000, and the rapid development period was over 40 d. But aphids in 1990 developed slightly later with a shorter development period. Soybeans in the untreated plots significantly displayed the symptoms of distorted leaves, shorter stems and stunted plants. Plants in the treated plots were higher (20.2 cm in 1989) than those in the untreated plots. Soybean aphids significantly affected soybean yields.     The soybean aphid, Aphis glycines, is one of the major insect pests of seedling soybean. This aphid has become a serious problem in soybean production due to heavy infestation in recent years and lack of favorable varieties resistant to soybean aphids.     Prediction of Aphid Infestation by Numbers of Overwintering Soybean Aphid Eggs

    Aphis glycines Matsumura is a rampant insect pest on cultivated soybeans in Jilin Province. Prediction of its occurrence and infesting tendency is an important basis for effective control. Issues related with the application of overwintering egg numbers to predict the occurrence of soybean aphid were studied in this paper. The ratio of winter host numbers to summer host numbers and overwintering egg quantity in different areas of Jilin Province were compared. Based on data about overwintering egg quantities in winter hosts, Rhamnus davaricus, aphid numbers in early and pre-peak infestation stage from 1961 to 1981 in Gongzhuling district and aphid infestation level in Siping district, the relationship between overwintering egg quantity, and aphid number were analyzed.     Weight Optimization Decision Algorithm in (<i>p</i>,<i>q</i>)-Rung Probabilistic Hesitant Orthopair Fuzzy Environments

    Aiming at the fuzzification of a decision environment and the challenge of determining the weights associated with the interaction among decision-makers, this study offers an original method for (p,q)-rung probabilistic hesitant orthopair fuzzy multi-objective group decision-making, which is founded on the weight optimization principle. Firstly, the notion of a probabilistic hesitant fuzzy set is expanded to a (p,q)-rung. Secondly, the determination of subjective and objective weights is accomplished through the utilization of the Analytic Network Process (ANP) and the Entropy Method. According to the degree of deviation and dispersion of each weight, an optimal objective function is constructed, and the neural network is used to iteratively solve for the best scheme of the comprehensive weight. Subsequently, the Elimination Et Choice Translating Reality (ELECTRE) approach was refined and applied to decision-making in the (p,q)-rung probabilistic hesitant orthopair fuzzy environment. Finally, comparative analysis was used to demonstrate the new method’s effectiveness and superiority

    Diversity of Bacillus-like bacterial community in the sediments of the Bamenwan mangrove wetland in Hainan, China

    Abstract: Members of the genus Bacillus and related spore-forming genera are ubiquitous. However, Bacillus-like species isolated from marine sediments have attracted less interest than their terrestrial relatives. Here, we investigated the diversity of Bacillus-like bacterial community in the sediments of the Bamenwan mangrove wetland in Hainan, China, using culture-dependent and culture-independent methods and present the first report on this subject. We also discovered some potential novel species from the sediment samples. Four families, Bacillaceae (58%), Paenibacillaceae (22%), Alicyclobacillaceae (15%), and Planococcaceae (5%), and nine genera, Bacillus (42%), Paenibacillus (16%), Halobacillus (13%), Alicyclobacillus (11%), Rummeliibacillus (5%), Cohnella (5%), Tumebacillus (4%), Pontibacillus (3%), and Aneurinibacillus (2%), were identified by pyrosequencing. In contrast, only four genera, Bacillus (57%), Paenibacillus (23%), Halobacillus (14%), and Virgibacillus (6%), were detected by the culture-dependent method. In the 16S rDNA sequencing analysis, the isolates HB12036 and HB12037 were closest to Bacillus okuhidensis Kh10-101T and Paenibacillus xylanilyticus XIL14T with similarities of 94.8% and 95.9%, respectively, indicating that these were novel species. Bacillus sp. HB12035 and HB12040 exhibited antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923, and Bacillus sp.
