    Influence Of Fabrication Condition on the Microstructural and Optical Properties of Lead-Free Ferroelectric Bi0.5_{0.5}Na0.5_{0.5}TiO3_{3} Materials

    Lead-free ferroelectric materials have attracted considerable attention due to the increasing potential application in environmental benign materials. Among lead-free ferroelectric materials, the Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BNT) materials were more studied because it exhibited the good ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties which could be promising candidate materials replacing Pb(Zr,Ti)O3. In this work, the lead-free ferroelectric BNT materials were synthesized by sol-gel method. The effects of fabrication process to microstructural and optical properties were studied which includes Na precursor concentration and calcining temperature. The result indicated that the Na precursor concentration were higher 40 mol.% and the calcining temperature

    An Aquaculture Water Checker--design and Manufacture

    A real-time, mobile aquaculture water checker is presented. The configuration of double integrating spheres is developed for simultaneously measuring backward scattering RdR_d, forward scattering TdT_d  and transmitted light TcT_c . Based on Kubelka-Munk model, a set of optical parameters including absorption coefficient μa\mu _a , scattering coefficient μs\mu_s and anisotropy  gg  are calculated. The obtained results for diluted milk standard samples with different milk concentrations and aquaculture water samples with different densities of Psexdo-Nitzschia-delicatissium algae are also reported

    Sex differences in total cholesterol of Vietnamese adults

    Background The mid-life emergence of higher levels of total cholesterol (TC) for women than for men has been observed in different Western and Asian populations. The aim of this study was to investigate whether there is evidence of this in Vietnam and, if so, whether it can be explained by ageing, by body size and fatness, or by socio-demographic characteristics and behavioural factors.Methods Participants (n = 14706, 50.9% females) aged 25-64 years were selected by multi-stage stratified cluster sampling from eight provinces each representing one of the eight geographical regions of Vietnam. Measurements were made using the World Health Organization STEPS protocols. Linear regression was used to assess the independent contributions of potential explanatory factors to mean levels of TC. Data were analysed using complex survey methods.Results Men and women had similar mean levels of body mass index (BMI), and men had modestly higher mean levels of waist circumference (WC), in each 5-year age category. The mean TC of women increased more or less continuously across the age range but with a step-up at age 50 years to reach higher concentrations on average than those of their male counterparts. The estimated step-up was not eliminated by adjustment for anthropometric indices including BMI or WC, or by adjustment for socio-demographic characteristics or behavioural factors. The estimated step-up was least for women with the greatest weight.Conclusion There is a marked step-up in TC at age 50 years for Vietnamese women that cannot be explained by their age, or by their body fatness or its distribution, or by their socio-demographic characteristics or behavioural factors, and which results in greater mean levels of TC for middle-aged women than for their male counterparts in Vietnam.</p

    Introduction : special issue of selected papers from ACML 2014

    We are delighted to present this special issue of Machine Learning Journal with selected papers from the Sixth Asian Conference on Machine Learning (ACML 2014) held in Nha Trang City, Vietnam from 26 to 28 November 2014. ACML aims at providing a leading international forum for researchers in machine learning and related fields to share their new ideas and achievements. While located in Asia, the conference has a wide visibility to the international community. ACML was the first machine learning conference with two cycles of submissions with a strict double-blind review process, and this tradition continues. ACML 2014 received 80 submissions from 20 countries across Asia, Australasia, Europe and North America. Each paper was assigned with two meta-reviewers and at least four reviewers. In the end, 25 papers were accepted into the main program, accounting for an acceptance rate of 31.25 % (Phung and Li 2014)
