Foreign Direct Investment and Employment Creation in Pacific Island Countries: An Empirical Study of Fiji
This paper undertakes an econometric study of the impact of FDI in Fiji during a 30-year period. In the absence of data on Fiji’s employment in FDI sectors either in aggregated form or by specific sectors, we are constrained to use data on formal sector employment as a proxy. This implies that employment in both formal and FDI related activities move in the same direction and proportion. The paper investigated the relationship between employment and foreign direct investment for Fiji through a multivariate modeling strategy by including GDP.Foreign Direcit Investment, Employment creation, Fiji
Optimization of cultural conditions for anaerobically treated distillery effluent bioremediation by an isolate Pseudomonas putida SAG45
The present study deals with the decolourisation and detoxification of distillery effluent by an isolate SAG45. Soil samples were collected from the affected disposal sites of distillery effluent treatment plant. The isolate showed the highest bioremediation of 79.5% within 4 days of cultivation in the melanoidin pigment broth. The isolate showed higher decolourisation at pH 8.0 and temperature 37 oC. However, it gives 58.9% decolourisation with 5% (v/v) distillery effluent within 8 days. Toxicity test was also carried out to assess the toxicity of distillery effluent on seed germination
Applications of submerged fermentation for biodegradation and decolourisation of melanoidins by an isolate Alcaligenes denitrificans SAG5
In laboratory conditions a bacterium was isolated, which was identified as Alcaligenes denitrificans SAG5.. The optimum decolourisation (72.6%) of melanoidin was achieved at pH 7.5 and temperature 37 °C within 4-6 days fermentation. The toxicity evaluation of distillery effluent with mung bean (Vigna radiata) revealed that the raw effluent is highly toxic as compared to treated effluent. This indicated that the effluent after bacterial treatment is ecofriendly
Enhanced decolourization of congo red dye under submerged fermentation (SMF) process by newly isolated Bacillus subtilis SPR42
Studies were carried out on the decolourization of textile azo dye using newly isolated aerobic bacterial culture. Among the 58 strains of aerobic bacteria isolated from soil contaminated with textile industry (Shivalik polymer Ltd. Faridabad) effluent, three showed remarkable ability in decolourizing the widely utilized azo dye (Congo Red). These strains also readily grew in and decolourized the high concentrations of dye (100 mgL -1). The aerobic bacterial isolate SPR42, was able to decolourize the Congo Red dye at a concentration of 100 mgL -1 upto 94% within 24 hrs at static conditions. The temperature and pH for optimum growth and activity of the isolate were reported as 37 oC and 8.5, respectively. The colorless bacterial biomass after decolourization suggested that decolourization was due to biodegradation, rather than inactive surface adsorption. Phenotypic characterization and phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rDNA sequence comparisons indicate that the strain SPR42 identified as Bacillus subtilis. This isolate can be a potential strain for biological treatment of effluents of TPI (Textile Processing Industry)
Future growth development Strategies
The research report is based on a superette and developing business strategies for future growth for it. Before working in key areas, I did collect little information about the market through organizational context (PESTEL analysis, SWOT analysis as well as internal analysis). Next step is to develop a future business plan, competitive advantages, and analysis of competitors condition in the market for superette development. This research based on primary data which collected by a mixed method. All information collected with the help of mixed method because it includes both methods qualitative and quantitative research. Moreover, the mixed method includes interviews of employees as well as manager and customer surveys. The customer survey conduct for getting detailed information about business growth, demand in the market. The research explains the key areas of the business that is helpful for future growth as well as the importance of strategic planning. The whole report contains various valuable concepts like reviews or opinion of manager, employees, and customers as well as recommendations for future growth and strategies development
Disasters and exemplified vulnerabilities in a cramped Public Health Infrastructure in India
The varied connotations to the term ‘Development’ are been channeled through perception. The perception of a political stakeholder differs from that of a rich-businessman, and again, from those who are lesser endowed. There is a pressing need for the government, to identify and maintain checks and balances between exploitative and responsive governance. The extension of the healthcare sector is an integral part of this holistic growth, while the customer base has largely financed the industry; the obligation on the hand of government needs to increase. The out of pocket spending by patients covers the finances of the sector by 64.2%. (NSSO, 2014 report). The lesser amount of government spending in the healthcare system is a drawback and has effects on the Industry in a negative frame in a large manner, only 28.6% of Total Health Expenditure is financed by Govt. of India and therefore, calls for the need for better financing mechanisms in the country in the form of insurance schemes and a smoother flow of the already existing policies and frameworks. In the debate of private v/s public hospitals, the paper presents reasons that create a barrier on effective utilization of benefits provided, and further constructs the viewpoint that though expensive, private healthcare services provide more assurance to the population in general. The over-crowding of these public institutions in times of epidemics or otherwise, is a self-indication of the dearth of infrastructure and the kind of impacts the interventions has had in terms of alleviating such grievances. The several debates that I have tried to analyze and interpret include those of the intersections the individuals of the country and the lawmakers have crossed in terms of developmental projects and whether these promises hold true in terms of concrete reality. The depth of understanding and entering these discussions is only a gateway to more pertinent questions of whether the present infrastructure has dwindled due to disasters in the past? Are we actually moving to building resiliency or is it just a mock-up present on paper only? The paper reflects qualitatively on several government reports on health and the state of the hospitals presented within various contexts of Disasters in the past. The analysis of the National Rural Health Mission, National Urban Health Mission and various others programs initiated by the Government of India and the scope that it has to remove the present day struggled faced by an over-crowded and pressurized public sector healthcare structure
Development of Activity Based Lesson Plans: An Experiment with Social Science Subject
Teacher effectiveness is a broadly used term that consists of characteristics, proficiencies, teaching skills and behaviours of teachers at all educational levels that empower students to reach to desired level. This may include the accomplishment of precise learning objectives as well as broader learning goals such as being able to solve problems, think critically, work collaboratively, and become effective citizens. In the present investigation, Review of related literature revealed that there is a gap in expected and existing competencies of social science teachers. One of the major findings of these studies revealed that teachers in our own country are mostly following fixed ways of teaching in the classroom. It is because the education program for teachers prepares the teacher to follow one of a few fixed ways of teaching. Therefore, a strong need of development of activity-based lesson plans teachers which will update their knowledge and skills for effective social science teaching. Therefore this paper deals with the development of Activity Based lesson plans for effective teaching in social sciences (ABTM) Keywords: Activity Based Lesson Plans, Teaching modules in social science DOI: 10.7176/RHSS/9-7-04 Publication date: April 30th 201

MATLAB and K-Wave Based Outdoor Ray Propagation Predictor Tool SNELLIX for Surface Wave Modelling
This paper discusses the overview of ground wave propagation and addresses a particular class of propagation scenarios in the presence of surface terrain and atmospheric refractivity. Traditional methods used to predict the ground-wave field strength at low frequency and are not applicable for terrains with serious irregularities because of the analytical approximations. A virtual propagation MATLAB based predictor tool SNELLIX is developed for propagation of EM waves over non-flat terrain through homogeneous and an inhomogeneous atmosphere.
