"The paper critically addresses some of the existing theoretical gaps within constructivist norm research and proposes an analytical framework for capturing and analysing non-linear variation in states’ normative positioning. The study then examines the various stances Russia has been selectively adopting in the process of its internalisation, contestation and revision of the international election observation norm throughout 2000-2012. The analysis reveals that until recently Russia had been primarily adopting a ‘reformist’ rather than ‘revolutionary’ stance, - only episodically questioning the norm’s legitimacy and avoiding open violations -, and stresses the importance of non-material constraints on normative revisionism." Social media influence on the holiday decision making process in the UK (Generation Y)

This study investigated the influence of social media on Generation Y travellers throughout the holiday decision-making process. The researchers examined the use of social media websites before, during and after holiday, evaluated the level of trust in user-generated content and identified how Generation Y shared their holiday experiences on social media. This study adopted the quantitative/deductive methodology using online questionnaire. The findings suggested that social media platforms were mostly used prior to the holiday as a source of gathering information such as destination, accommodation. However, findings showed although people used social media to search for information, it was less trusted compared to official state tourism websites and word-of-mouth. But the findings showed that social media was also considerably used during the holiday only as medium for posting photos and searching for local entertainment. On the other hand, the results showed that there is a trend of changes toward social media as a source of travel information which indicated respondents’ illingness to use social media for their travel in near future

The governance of society is a collaborative effort by public and private entities. Participation from public personalities at various levels of government is essential to the operation of a wide variety of different sorts of networks. The intricate interaction processes that take place in networks of governmental, private, and community actors will be the subject of a substantial amount of discussion. Efforts made to address issues may result in the development of convoluted structures for the formulation of public policy, its administration, and the provision of public services. A governance process that has a high degree of complexity includes activities such as the construction, operation, and maintenance of public infrastructure works. There are four prevalent misconceptions that lead to the widespread uncertainty about what the actual responsibilities of governance really are

'Just peace', just peace - what peace? The US and Russia's conceptual approaches to peace and conflict settlement

In theoretical terms 'peace' remains a largely contested concept. Academics propose competing definitions and conceptualizations, which possess their own normative and analytical advantages or disadvantages. Yet despite heated academic and theoretical debates, studies looking at the empirical understandings of peace and conflict-settlement strategies of different states are largely missing. The paper set out to cover this gap and ask how similarities and differences in the actors' conceptual understandings of peace play themselves out in their agreement and disagreement over the advocated 'peace strategies'. Employing qualitative/ quantitative content analysis of the statements made by the representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States at the UN Security Council, Evgeniya Bakalova and Konstanze Jüngling analyze the debates around four recent and/ or ongoing conflicts (Georgia 2008, Libya 2011, Syria 2011-2014 and Ukraine 2014). The study reveals that while agreement over the conceptualization of peace does not impede further disagreement as to the advocated peace strategies, disagreement at the conceptual level breeds deeper disagreement

Palladium Complexes with 3-Substituted Derivatives of 5-Methyl-5-(4-pyridyl)hydantoins. Synthesis, Study and in vitro Cytotoxicity

Six palladium(II) and palladium(IV) complexes with 3-ethyl-5-methyl-5-(4-pyridyl)hydantoin, 3-propyl-5-methyl-5-(4-pyridyl)hydantoin and 3-benzyl-5-methyl-5-(4-pyridyl)hydantoin were synthe-sized. The complexes were identified and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H, 13C NMR spec-tra etc. On the data obtained the molecular formulae of the new palladium complexes were proposed. The cytotoxicity of the complexes was evaluated in vitro using a panel of human tumour cell lines. The re-sults demonstrate that the Pd(II) complex with 3-benzyl-5-methyl-5-(4-pyridyl)hydantoin exerts cyto-toxicity as compared to the other studied Pd(II) complexes in all tested cell lines

The title compound, 3-amino-5-methyl-5-(4-pyrid­yl)imid­azol­idine-2,4-dione, C9H10N4O2, was obtained by reaction of 5-methyl-5-(4-pyrid­yl)hydantoin with hydrazine. It crystallizes as a racemate in the tetra­gonal space group I41/a with one mol­ecule in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angle between the pyridine ring and the five-membered hydantoin ring is 47.99 (3)° In the crystal structure, mol­ecules are joined in a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network by N—H⋯N and N—H⋯O links
