Research and Successful Application of the Diverted Fracturing Technology of Spontaneously Selecting Geologic Sweet Spots in Thin Interbedded Formation in Baikouquan Field

Baikouquan oil field is composed of multiple interbedded, thin, low-permeability layers, which are required to vertically fracture multiple layers and to create complex fractures for economic development. However, conventional fracture technologies create a single, simple fracture, having poor feasibility for this field. Therefore, we conducted research on fracturing technology by spontaneously selecting geologic sweet spots based on diversion. This technology can vertically fracture the thin layers one by one and horizontally divert the fracture to non-depleted areas. Firstly, a triaxial diverted fracturing experiment approach was setup, and then diverted fracturing experiments were carried out to verify the feasibility of diverted fracturing and to study the fracture geometry and the law of diversion. Next, experiments were carried out to evaluate the performance of the diversion agents. The valuated properties comprise the diversion pressure, stability time, and degradation based on which to optimize the selection of the diversion agents. Finally, the fracturing technology was applied to well b21004 of Baikouquan oil field, and post-frac performance was evaluated. The experimental results show that multiple and complex fractures are realized through temporary plugging. Diversion performance evaluation tests show that a 4 wt% concentration of 1–5 mm granules + 20/60 mesh powder and a 3 wt% concentration of 1–7 mm granules + 20/60 mesh powder + fiber can hold up enough pressure to force the fracture to divert. The field treating pressure curve shows that there is a 3–10 MPa pressure increase when there are pump diversion agents, which is a clear sign of fracture diversion. Plugging the fracture mouth gives a faster and a higher incremental pressure. Before this fracturing, the well had almost stopped oil production. After the stimulation, the initial oil production rate became 20 + t/d, which shows the effectiveness of this fracturing technology for Baikouquan oil field

Seasonal River Chemistry and Lithium Isotopes in the Min Jiang at Eastern Tibetan Plateau: Roles of Silicate Weathering and Hydrology

Riverine lithium (Li) isotopes have been considered as a robust tracer for silicate weathering, but processes controlling riverine delta Li-7 ratios remain controversial. To address the impacts of weathering and hydrology on riverine delta Li-7, the seasonal variation of water chemistry in the Min Jiang at the eastern Tibetan Plateau was investigated over December of 2009 to the end of 2010. The results showed distinct seasonal variations in ionic chemistry and delta Li-7. Increased river discharge in the monsoon season diluted dissolved ions, and monsoonal hydrological changes caused frequent delta Li-7 fluctuations. High discharge caused by monsoonal rainfall reduced Li isotope fractionation by shortened rock-fluid interaction time, resulting in lower delta Li-7, whereas the input of high delta Li-7 groundwater and landslide seepage elevated riverine delta Li-7, together with lengthened rock-fluid interaction time in less rain intervals. Based on the high-resolution sampling strategy and dataset over one hydrological year, this study highlights that changes of hydrological conditions can have a significant impact on weathering processes and water sources, and therefore on riverine delta Li-7 variation

Metabolomic Analysis of <i>Stephania tetrandra</i>–<i>Astragalus membranaceus</i> Herbal Pair-Improving Nephrotic Syndrome Identifies Activation of IL-13/STAT6 Signaling Pathway

The Stephania tetrandra–Astragalus membranaceus herbal pair (FH) is a classic herbal pair widely used in the treatment of nephrotic syndrome (NS). The effects of Stephania tetrandra (FJ) and Astragalus membranaceus (HQ) on NS have been reported, but the mechanism of their combination on the improvement of NS are still unclear. The NS model was established by injecting adriamycin into the tail vein. FH intervention reduced the levels of serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, interleukin-6 (IL-6), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), urinary protein, and the gene expression levels of aquaporin 2 (AQP2) and arginine vasopressin (AVP) in NS rats. In addition, FH improved kidney injury in NS rats by inhibiting the expression of interleukin 13 (IL-13), phospho-signal transducers, and activators of transcription 6 (p-STAT6), Bax, cleaved-caspase3, while promoting the expression of Bcl-2. By comprehensive comparison of multiple indexes, the effects of FH on lipid metabolism, glomerular filtration rate, and inflammation were superior to that of FJ and HQ. Metabonomic studies showed that, compared with FJ and HQ, FH intervention significantly regulated tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, cysteine and methionine metabolism, and alanine, aspartic acid and glutamic acid metabolism. Pearson correlation analysis showed that succinic acid and L-aspartic acid were negatively correlated with urinary protein, cystatin C (Cys C) and BUN (p < 0.05). In summary, FH could reduce renal injury and improve NS through inhibiting the IL-13/STAT6 signal pathway, regulating endogenous metabolic pathways, such as TCA cycle, and inhibiting the expression of AQP2 and AVP genes. This study provides a comprehensive strategy to reveal the mechanism of FH on the treatment of NS, and also provides a reasonable way to clarify the compatibility of traditional Chinese medicine

Silver and Copper Dual Single Atoms Boosting Direct Oxidation of Methane to Methanol via Synergistic Catalysis

Abstract Rationally constructing atom‐precise active sites is highly important to promote their catalytic performance but still challenging. Herein, this work designs and constructs ZSM‐5 supported Cu and Ag dual single atoms as a proof‐of‐concept catalyst (Ag1−Cu1/ZSM‐5 hetero‐SAC (single‐atom catalyst)) to boost direct oxidation of methane (DOM) by H2O2. The Ag1−Cu1/ZSM‐5 hetero‐SAC synthesized via a modified co‐adsorption strategy yields a methanol productivity of 20,115 µmol gcat−1 with 81% selectivity at 70 °C within 30 min, which surpasses most of the state‐of‐the‐art noble metal catalysts. The characterization results prove that the synergistic interaction between silver and copper facilitates the formation of highly reactive surface hydroxyl species to activate the C−H bond as well as the activity, selectivity, and stability of DOM compared with SACs, which is the key to the enhanced catalytic performance. This work believes the atomic‐level design strategy on dual‐single‐atom active sites should pave the way to designing advanced catalysts for methane conversion

PRL2 regulates neutrophil extracellular trap formation which contributes to severe malaria and acute lung injury

Abstract Excessive host immune responses contribute to severe malaria with high mortality. Here, we show that PRL2 in innate immune cells is highly related to experimental malaria disease progression, especially the development of murine severe malaria. In the absence of PRL2 in myeloid cells, Plasmodium berghei infection results in augmented lung injury, leading to significantly increased mortality. Intravital imaging revealed greater neutrophilic inflammation and NET formation in the lungs of PRL2 myeloid conditional knockout mice. Depletion of neutrophils prior to the onset of severe disease protected mice from NETs associated lung injury, and eliminated the difference between WT and PRL2 CKO mice. PRL2 regulates neutrophil activation and NET accumulation via the Rac-ROS pathway, thus contributing to NETs associated ALI. Hydroxychloroquine, an inhibitor of PRL2 degradation alleviates NETs associated tissue damage in vivo. Our findings suggest that PRL2 serves as an indicator of progression to severe malaria and ALI. In addition, our study indicated the importance of PRL2 in NET formation and tissue injury. It might open a promising path for adjunctive treatment of NET-associated disease
