    The Relation between Lifestyle and High-risk Behaviors in Drivers Visiting the Cargo Terminal of Yazd

    Background: Drivers are more exposed to unhealthy lifestyle due to their working conditions. Therefore, the present study was aimed to investigate the relation between lifestyle and high-risk behaviors in drivers visiting the Cargo Terminal of Yazd. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in 2017 in the Cargo Terminal of Yazd. Convenience sampling was performed. Data were collected using two questionnaires, a lifestyle and a researcher-made high-risk behaviors questionnaire. Data were analyzed by independent t-test, one-way ANOVA and Logistic Regression using SPSS version 22. Results: The results indicated that 59.3% were smokers, 44.9% hookah users, 24% drug users, and 65.3% had relation with someone other than. There was a significant correlation between lifestyle and smoking and also drug use. Income and the number of days away from family showed a significant relation with all the high-risk behaviors. Marital status had a significant relation with hookah use and the relation with their wife. Also, education had a significant relation with hookah use and drug use. Conclusion: Conducting intervention programs to prevent the use of various tobacco products and also the use of appropriate preventive measures to prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases can play an important role in improving lifestyle and reducing high-risk behaviors in drivers.     Introduction: Most of the older adults have to be hospitalized and patients&rsquo; satisfaction from the provided services is one of the key performance indicators in healthcare centers. Feeling satisfied with the treatment process and provided services can motivate the elderly patients to continue their treatment, which ultimately leads to a reduction in the disease load and disability in older adults. The aim of this study was to examine the satisfaction status of elderly patients admitted in different wards in Yazd Shahid Sadoughi Hospital of provided services in winter 2015. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study in which, the elderly patients who were hospitalized in different wards of Yazd Shahid Sadoughi Hospital were investigated. Totally, 100 patients entered in the study through convenience sampling during the winter 2015. A modified Persian version of Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire III was applied for data collection. To analyze the data, In addition to descriptive statistics, in inferential section student-t and Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients were applied. Results: The mean score of total satisfaction from hospital services of Yazd Shahid Sadoughi Hospital was 65.4 (range 0-100). There was a significant positive relation between the different domains of satisfactions. It was only the financial aspects which was not in relation with other domains. The highest score of the patient satisfaction belonged to the technical quality (73.7) and nursing services (69.6) and the lowest score was in the communication domain (48.7). The score of satisfaction in financial aspects was lower in men than women (P< 0.05). Conclusion: Most of the elderly patients had little satisfaction with the communication. Medical students and staff should consider good communication while delivering services to the elderly, and provide adequate information to help them decide which treatment pathway is suitable

    Sleep Quality among Older Adults in Mehriz, Yazd Province, Iran

    Introduction: Decrease in sleep quality is an age-related problem which appears in different features such as difficulty in sleeping, over sleeping and unusual behaviors during sleep. Regarding the importance of sleep quality among older adults and also its effects on their quality of life and physical and mental status, the study was conducted to determine the status and quality of sleep in older adults in Mehriz, Yazd Province, Iran.  Methods: The cross-sectional study used cluster random sample of 126 older adults. Data collection tool was a two-part questionnaire including demographic and sleep-related questions and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Data were analyzed with SPSS software usingone-way ANOVA and chi-square tests. Results: The most reported sleep quality related problems were pain (32.8%), waking up for toilet (28.6%) and nightmare (3.2%) waking up problem for driving was the least reported problem (0.8%). Sleep quality was worse among women than men (p=0.02). There was a statistically significant relation between sleep quality score and morbidity to thedisease of cardiovascular, diabetes, osteoporosis, breathing problems, visual and hearing problems, obesity and depression (p<0.05).  Conclusion: Regarding the significant relation of sleep quality and some chronic conditions, the importance of educatingthe older adults who suffer from chronic conditions and also their families in this area is displayed. As with planning suitable interventions, we may not only increase the sleep quality among older adults but also treat or reduce the risk of chronic conditions among them

    Relationship between Abuse Experience and General Health among Older Adults in Yazd City- Iran

    Introduction: Elder abuse may increase the vulnerability of ageing people to disease and decrease their general health status, so addressing the issue is essential for promoting elderly quality of life. The study aimed to examine the relation between abuse experience and general health among elderly people in Yazd city- Iran. Methods: The cross-sectional study carried out on 250 community-dwelling seniors in the city of Yazd who were selected with cluster random sampling. Data collection tools included, Iranian Domestic Elder Abuse Questionnaire and Persian version of the General Health Questionnaire 28. Data were analyzed using Spearman correlation coefficient and linear regression tests. Results: Mean scores of abuse experience and general health among the elders were 11.84&plusmn;12.70 (range 0-100) and 21.82&plusmn;10.84 (range 0-84) respectively. General health status was more undesirable among elders who had experienced abuse than those who had not. Elder abuse subscales accounted for 17.2 % changes in general health, which had only care neglect and physical abuse subscales with significant prediction effect. Conclusion: Abuse experience has negative effects on older adults' general health. care neglect and physical abuse play a more important role

    Drivers\' Life Quality, Marital Satisfaction, and Social Support in Cargo Terminal of Yazd City

    Abstract Introduction: This is important to consider the health, social support, and marital satisfaction of drivers since they own one of the essential and stressful jobs in society. The purpose of this research was to investigate quality of life, marital satisfaction, and social support of the drivers referring to the cargo terminal of Yazd City. Methods: In order to collect data, 134 drivers in Yazd cargo terminal were selected. The ENRICH questionnaire of marital satisfaction, SF-36 questionnaire, and social support questionnaire (SSQ) have been used as data collection tools. The collected data were then analyzed by Independent T test, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Pearson correlation. Results: According to the results, the drivers' average age was 40.2&plusmn;9.17 years old. The mean scores of marital satisfaction, quality of life, and social support were equal to 120.04&plusmn;20.14 out of 175, 99.69&plusmn;18.14 out of 149, and 15&plusmn;4.76 out of 23, respectively. About 60.4 % of drivers were not satisfied with their jobs. There were significant relationships between weight and marital satisfaction (P=0.02), as well as between job satisfaction (P=0.003) (P=0.015) and income (P=0.047) (P=0.020), to social support and quality of life. Also, a strong significant positive relationship was observed in correlation coefficient between social support and two variables of quality of life and marital satisfaction (P=0.000). Conclusion: This can be argued that marital satisfaction, quality of life, and social support of the drivers are lower than the expected levels.
