Man is suffering from the diseases which are caused due to stress either mental or physical and premature ageing (Akalaja Jara) is one of them. There are many theory related to ageing among all of them Free Radical Theory is most acceptable, which answers most of the questions related with Psychological as well as Physical changes during ageing. Stress can be considered as a major factor for Akalaja Jara. Sattvavajaya Chikitsa is a specialized type of treatment influencing the psychological aspect of body. It can be applied in the form of Yogic practices and other mind control techniques. As mind and body are interrelated to each other, these techniques also affect physical health. It is the unique concept of Ayurveda which may be effective in improving quality of life. That is why to deal with stress and to prevent Akalaja Jara, Sattvavajaya (control of mind from unwholesome objects) could be a better approach

    Awesome SOSS: Transmission Spectroscopy of WASP-96b with NIRISS/SOSS

    The future is now - after its long-awaited launch in December 2021, JWST began science operations in July 2022 and is already revolutionizing exoplanet astronomy. The Early Release Observations (ERO) program was designed to provide the first images and spectra from JWST, covering a multitude of science cases and using multiple modes of each on-board instrument. Here, we present transmission spectroscopy observations of the hot-Saturn WASP-96b with the Single Object Slitless Spectroscopy (SOSS) mode of the Near Infrared Imager and Slitless Spectrograph, observed as part of the ERO program. As the SOSS mode presents some unique data reduction challenges, we provide an in-depth walk-through of the major steps necessary for the reduction of SOSS data: including background subtraction, correction of 1/f noise, and treatment of the trace order overlap. We furthermore offer potential routes to correct for field star contamination, which can occur due to the SOSS mode's slitless nature. By comparing our extracted transmission spectrum with grids of atmosphere models, we find an atmosphere metallicity between 1x and 5x solar, and a solar carbon-to-oxygen ratio. Moreover, our models indicate that no grey cloud deck is required to fit WASP-96b's transmission spectrum, but find evidence for a slope shortward of 0.9μ\mum, which could either be caused by enhanced Rayleigh scattering or the red wing of a pressure-broadened Na feature. Our work demonstrates the unique capabilities of the SOSS mode for exoplanet transmission spectroscopy and presents a step-by-step reduction guide for this new and exciting instrument.Comment: MNRAS, in press.     Silver based nanomaterial, as a selective colorimetric sensor for visual detection of post harvest spoilage in onion

    Onion being a semi-perishable horticultural bulb crop gets subjected to deterioration during the storage, which ultimately leads to huge monetary losses every year. Specific detection tools for onion spoilage will be an asset in relieving losses during post-harvest storage. In this context silver based yellow colored colloidal nanoparticle (AgY-NPs) solution was synthesized and evaluated as a visual sensor for the organo-sulfur compound released during the spoilage of onions. The visual changes during the spoilage was monitored for ten days wherein the yellow color of the AgY colloidal solution changed to orange, pink and finally turned transparent. Simultaneous analysis carried out by UV-Vis spectroscopy and colorimeteric analysis corroborates our investigation of AgY-NPs as a visual sensor displaying selectivity and specificity for volatile sulphur compound responsible for spoilage of onions. Furthermore, analysis of AgY-NPs in presence of healthy onions showed distinct visual results which were complemented by probable mechanism. Besides this the structural changes in AgY-NPs due to incorporation of sulphur compounds were supported by Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Raman Analysis, Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) which clearly indicated the capacity of these AgY-NPs as a powerful detection tool for onion spoilage

    Changing epidemiology of poisoning in Central India: shifting poles from male farmers to young house wives

    Introduction: Acute self infliction of poisoning is very common among young in developing countries. The epidemiology of poisoning changes time to time and varies region to region. In south India, organophosphorus compound poisoning has been more common as compared to Aluminium phosphide poisoning in north India. All over India males are more commonly reported to poison themselves. Poisoning in farmers has been reported more commonly than in any other profession. Madhya Pradesh is situated in central part of India, where agriculture is the predominant source of income. There is a knowledge gap in epidemiology of poisoning in this region. Methods: This is a hospital based observational type cross sectional study over nearly 2 years. Results: Out of the 550 number of study participants about 90% were younger than 40 years. Females were more common than males in all age groups. Poisoning was more common in married population in both the genders. House wives followed by unemployed students were the most vulnerable populations. Farmers constituted only about 10% of total cases. Organophosphorus compounds were the most common type of poisoning contributing to almost one fourth of the total cases followed by Zinc phosphide, Aluminium phosphide, oleander and ethylene dibromide poisoning in decreasing order. The overall mortality was 9.8% (n=54). The case fatality rates of various agro-chemicals in decreasing order were Aluminum phosphide (44.7%), ethylene dibromide (17.6%), and organophosphorus (7%). These 3 poisonings contributed to 92.5% of all deaths. Death was more common when the time lag to hospitalization was > 6 hours. Conclusion: Younger age group, female sex and housewives were the most vulnerable group. The case fatality rate of various poisonings in decreasing order were Aluminum phosphide (Celphos) poisoning followed by EDB and OPC
