    Four-point functions and kaon decays in a minimal AdS/QCD model

    We study the predictions of holographic QCD for various observable four-point quark flavour current-current correlators. The dual 5-dimensional bulk theory we consider is a SU(3)L×SU(3)RSU(3)_L \times SU(3)_R Yang Mills theory in a slice of AdS5AdS_5 spacetime with boundaries. Particular UV and IR boundary conditions encode the spontaneous breaking of the dual 4D global chiral symmetry down to the SU(3)VSU(3)_V subgroup. We explain in detail how to calculate the 4D four-point quark flavour current-current correlators using the 5D holographic theory, including interactions. We use these results to investigate predictions of holographic QCD for the ΔI=1/2\Delta I = 1/2 rule for kaon decays and the BKB_K parameter. The results agree well in comparison with experimental data, with an accuracy of 25% or better. The holographic theory automatically includes the contributions of the meson resonances to the four-point correlators. The correlators agree well in the low-momentum and high-momentum limit, in comparison with chiral perturbation theory and perturbative QCD results, respectively.Comment: Published version, title changed to conform with Journal format, references and clarifying remarks added, 40 pages, 5 figure

    EFFECT OF LUMBAR LORDOTIC ANGLE ON LUMBOSACRAL JOINT DURING ISOKINETIC EXCERCISE

    The purpose of this study was to to analyze the biomechanical impact of the level of lumbar lordosis angle during isokinetic exercise through dynamic analysis using a 3-dimensional musculoskeletal model. We made each models for normal lordosis, excessive lordosis, lumbar kyphosis, and hypo-lordosis according to lordotic angle and inputted experimental data as initial values to perform inverse dynamic analysis. Comparing the joint torques, the largest torque of EL was 16.6% larger than that of NL, and LK was 11.7% less than NL. There existed no significant difference in the compressive intervertebral forces of each lumbar joint (p>0.05), but statistically significant difference in the anterioposterior shear force (LK>HL>EL>NL,

    BKB_K using HYP-smeared staggered fermions in Nf=2+1N_f=2+1 unquenched QCD

    We present results for kaon mixing parameter BKB_K calculated using HYP-smeared improved staggered fermions on the MILC asqtad lattices. We use three lattice spacings (a≈0.12a\approx 0.12, 0.090.09 and 0.06  0.06\;fm), ten different valence quark masses (m≈ms/10−msm\approx m_s/10-m_s), and several light sea-quark masses in order to control the continuum and chiral extrapolations. We derive the next-to-leading order staggered chiral perturbation theory (SChPT) results necessary to fit our data, and use these results to do extrapolations based both on SU(2) and SU(3) SChPT. The SU(2) fitting is particularly straightforward because parameters related to taste-breaking and matching errors appear only at next-to-next-to-leading order. We match to the continuum renormalization scheme (NDR) using one-loop perturbation theory. Our final result is from the SU(2) analysis, with the SU(3) result providing a (less accurate) cross check. We find BK(NDR,μ=2GeV)=0.529±0.009±0.032B_K(\text{NDR}, \mu = 2 \text{GeV}) = 0.529 \pm 0.009 \pm 0.032 and B^K=BK(RGI)=0.724±0.012±0.043\hat{B}_K =B_K(\text{RGI})= 0.724 \pm 0.012 \pm 0.043, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. The error is dominated by the truncation error in the matching factor. Our results are consistent with those obtained using valence domain-wall fermions on lattices generated with asqtad or domain-wall sea quarks.Comment: 37 pages, 31 figures, most updated versio

    Associations between anxiety, body mass index, and sex hormones in women

    Background: Several studies have shown a positive association between anxiety and obesity, particularly in women. We aimed to study whether sex hormone alterations related to obesity might play a role in this association. Patients and methods: Data for this study were obtained from a population-based cohort study (the LIFE-Adult-Study). A total of 3,124 adult women (970 premenopausal and 2,154 postmenopausal) were included into the analyses. The anxiety symptomatology was assessed using the GAD-7 questionnaire (cut-off ≥ 10 points). Sex hormones were measured from fasting serum samples. Results: We did not find significant differences in anxiety prevalence in premenopausal obese women compared with normal-weight controls (4.8% vs. 5.5%). Both obesity and anxiety symptomatology were separately associated with the same sex hormone alteration in premenopausal women: higher total testosterone level (0.97 ± 0.50 in obese vs. 0.86 ± 0.49 nmol/L in normal-weight women, p = 0.026 and 1.04 ± 0.59 in women with vs. 0.88 ± 0.49 nmol/L in women without anxiety symptomatology, p = 0.023). However, women with anxiety symptomatology had non-significantly higher estradiol levels than women without anxiety symptomatology (548.0 ± 507.6 vs. 426.2 ± 474.0 pmol/L), whereas obesity was associated with lower estradiol levels compared with those in normal-weight group (332.7 ± 386.5 vs. 470.8 ± 616.0 pmol/L). Women with anxiety symptomatology had also significantly higher testosterone and estradiol composition (p = 0.006). No associations of sex hormone levels and BMI with anxiety symptomatology in postmenopausal women were found. Conclusions: Although both obesity and anxiety symptomatology were separately associated with higher testosterone level, there was an opposite impact of anxiety and obesity on estradiol levels in premenopausal women. We did not find an evidence that the sex hormone alterations related to obesity are playing a significant role in anxiety symptomatology in premenopausal women. This could be the explanation why we did not find an association between obesity and anxiety. In postmenopausal women, other mechanisms seem to work than in the premenopausal group

    The BKB_K Kaon Parameter in the Chiral Limit

    We introduce four-point functions in the hadronic ladder resummation approach to large NcN_c QCD Green functions. We determine the relevant one to calculate the BKB_K kaon parameter in the chiral limit. This four-point function contains both the large momenta QCD OPE and the small momenta ChPT at NLO limits, analytically. We get B^Kχ=0.38±0.15\hat B_K^\chi = 0.38 \pm 0.15. We also give the ChPT result at NLO for the relevant four-point function to calculate BKB_K outside the chiral limit, while the leading QCD OPE is the same as the chiral limit one.Comment: 17 page

    Extending the Real-Time Maude Semantics of Ptolemy to Hierarchical DE Models

    This paper extends our Real-Time Maude formalization of the semantics of flat Ptolemy II discrete-event (DE) models to hierarchical models, including modal models. This is a challenging task that requires combining synchronous fixed-point computations with hierarchical structure. The synthesis of a Real-Time Maude verification model from a Ptolemy II DE model, and the formal verification of the synthesized model in Real-Time Maude, have been integrated into Ptolemy II, enabling a model-engineering process that combines the convenience of Ptolemy II DE modeling and simulation with formal verification in Real-Time Maude.Comment: In Proceedings RTRTS 2010, arXiv:1009.398
