Die Widerspenstige

Der Essay beschreibt die weibliche Figur der Barbara in Christian Petzolds Film als eine Figur, die sich vor allem dadurch auszeichnet, dass sie ihre klassische filmische Identität als Handlungsträger verliert. Sie entsteht aus einer Poetik, die die Figur auf dramaturgischer und psychologischer Ebene zu einer unbestimmten Figur werden lässt, in dem sie einen Registerwechsel im Darstellungsstil vollzieht. Das filmische Bild wird zu einem malerischen Bild, in dem die Gesetze der Handlung und Affekte außer Kraft gesetzt sind und stattdessen Rhythmus, Farbe und Größenverhältnisse den Bezugsrahmen der Figur bilden. Im Anschluss an Jacques Rancières Begriff des Ästhetischen wird die Figur als eine dissensuelle Figur gedeutet, als Figur, die auf der Ebene der Form einen Streit austrägt bzw. einen Widerstand behauptet. Als malerische Figur, als Figur der Kunst wehrt sie sich gegen die Vereinnahmung durch ein großes Ganzes von Handlungs- und Spannungsbogen. Auf diese Weise wird der Film, der vom Aufbegehren gegen das DDR-Regime erzählt, zu einer universellen Geschichte über die Möglichkeiten, gesellschaftlicher Vereinnahmung zu widerstehen

En raison de son emplacement, l’Université du cinéma Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF se prête particulièrement bien à la réflexion sur le patrimoine culturel audiovisuel. Elle est située juste à côté des studios de cinéma Babelsberg, dont l’histoire remonte à plus d’un siècle, et cette université, la plus ancienne du genre en Allemagne, a toujours bénéficié de l’aura mythique des studios. Avec la création d’une chaire de recherche en patrimoine audiovisuel, en juin 2013, et le lancement d’un nouveau programme d’études consacré au patrimoine cinématographique (Filmkulturerbe), l’université est bien placée pour affirmer l’importance de la protection et de la maintenance de l’héritage audiovisuel. Sur cette base, un projet de recherche (soutenu par la Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft [ DFG]) a été consacré à l’étude du patrimoine cinématographique de l’université. Les films d’étudiants couvrant soixante années d’histoire de l’école, en particulier ceux produits à l’époque de la RDA, sont analysés dans le contexte de l’histoire du cinéma et des institutions. Cette étude dresse un bilan sur la façon dont les films d’étudiants ont été archivés et transmis, et examine également les récits de l’école à propos de sa propre histoire. Des lectures à la fois historiques et esthétiques d’une sélection de films sont conduites en référence aux récents débats sur le cinéma de la Deutsche Film-Aktiengesellschaft (DEFA). “Walls Have Never Held Us Back”: 60 Years of Student Films at the University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf

Owing to its location, the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF is particularly well suited to reflect audiovisual cultural heritage. It is situated in close proximity to the Babelsberg film studios, which has a tradition of filmmaking that goes back more than a century, and the University, which is the oldest of its kind in Germany, has benefited from the studio’s mythos. With the creation of an endowed professorship for audiovisual heritage in June 2013, as well as the initiation of a new program of study devoted to film heritage (to Filmkulturerbe), the Film University is positioned to assert the importance of securing and maintaining audiovisual heritage. On this basis, a scholarly project (supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft [DFG]) has been dedicated to studying the university’s filmic heritage. Student films from 60 years of the school’s history, with a particular focus on the films from the GDR era, are being analyzed in the context of film history and in terms of institutional history as well. The research takes stock of how the student films have been archived and transmitted, and it also examines the school’s own narratives about its history. Both film historical and aesthetic readings of selected films are conducted with reference to recent debates about DEFA cinema.
