A literatura comparada no Brasil

Comparatism followed the steps of Brazilian literature investigation even before the establishment of Comparative Literature as a sistematic study, for it was a spontaneous practice which was present in the critical essays by different scholars. Comparative Literature has been introduced in Brazilian University from the 30's onwards. The name of Antonio Candido de Mello e Souza has contributed to its development and consolidation, mainly through his renewed ideas of the concept of influence. His critical discourse was the starting point for the search of a decolonized comparativist model. The establishment of graduate courses in Comparative Literature on a regular basis has given a great impetus to the field in Brazil, producing in-depth studies which have shown the interliterary relations through a new point of view, breaking with the tradicional concepts of debts and influences. The ripening of Comparative Literature in Brazil can be measured by the creation of the National Association (ABRALIC) in 1986, and by the realization of four National Conferences

Conto e identidade literária na América Latina

The Latin American short story, nowadays, is a kind ofartistic representation capable of pointing out significant directions of the literatures produced in specific regions or countries, and so, of contributing to literary national identity formations. This question in discussed here through the analysis of the anthology Os cem melhores contos brasileiros do século XX (2000), organized by Italo Moriconi. We show that the short-story trajectory in Brazil, throughout the century, accompanies the Brazilian society's changes and its repercussions on the behavior and the psychology of individuals. At the same time, the form of the short story gradually abandons traditional models by innovative procedures

The relation between the figure of the narrator and his voice (the way he tells the story) has given rise, since the beginning of the century, to important issues that have originated different critical concepts and theories in various countries such as England, United States, France, Germany and Russia. By enphasizing the narrative focus variety, these theories have added psychological, ideological, historical and social devices to the perceptual aspects of distance, angle and amount of vision. At the same time, Genette’s focalization concept has cleared the current confusion between vision and voice

O contista Moacyr Scliar na literatura gaúcha dos anos 70

Moacyr Scliar é um dos escritores mais importantes da nova geração surgida a partir dos anos 60 na literatura sul-rio-grandense. Este trabalho aborda a produção literária do autor, fazendo um duplo recorte: restringe-se ao gênero conto e às obras dos anos 70. Como características de suas narrativas, destacamse a dicção irônica e satírica da linguagem, o caráter sintético das histórias, a opção pelo insólito e o fantástico e a crítica feroz à sociedade capitalista. A leitura dos contos prioriza três eixos temáticos: a crítica social, o memorialismo e a metaficção.One of the most important writers of the new generation, which was formed in the sixties in contemporary sul-rio-grandense literature of Brazil, is Moacyr Scliar. This text analyses Scliar' s two main aspects o f his literary production:. the short-story gender and the author's works produced in the seventies. Some characteristics may be pointed in his narratives: the language ironic and satiric diction, the synthetic aspect o f the stories, the choice for the unusual and fantastic narrative way, and his skeptic vision of the capitalistic society. This work discusses literary representation made by women writers of Southern Brazilian literature from 70’s and 80’s in the XXth century. Through these texts, we try both to identify recurrent subject matters which express preoccupations inherent to feminine condition and to indicate some traces which show the existence of a somewhat different way of writing, as to revealing a rather particular sensibility in a women’s perception
