(orig./HM)Aircraft assembly ought to be further automated in the future, in order to permit more economic production. Therefore, efforts in aircraft construction are aimed at automating the complex assembly sequences of component handling and positioning, component fastening by application of clamps or hollow rivets, the actual ''riveting of structures'' with solid rivets and sealing the component edges and joints by means of industry robots, flexible assembly devices, and data processing systems. This has initiated the development of flexibly automated assembly systems in aircraft construction. The objective of the present doctoral thesis is to determine and optimize the process parameters for end effectors used in a flexibly automated assembly cell for component handling, drilling and riveting, and sealing. The vaporization of one or two multi-component fuel droplets in hot air-stream is presented. A thermal wind tunnel with experimental channel has been designed to develop an experimental process. Firstly, the comparison between experimental results and numerical data is presented for the case of an isolated multi-component droplet. The numerical method is based on the resolution of heat and mass transfer equations between the droplet and the gas stream. This model includes the effect of Stephan flow, the effect of variable thermophysical properties of the components, and the non-unitary Lewis number in the gas film. The experimental results show the micro-explosion phenomenon observed in the liquid phase of multi-component droplet at low temperature. The experimental case of two pure or multi-component droplets in interaction is also presented.

STABILITY OF A LAMINAR JET DIFFUSION FLAME OF METHANE IN AN OXYGEN ENRICHED AIR CO-JET

Abstract The effect of adding oxygen in the combustion of a laminar flame methane/air is studied. The volume content of oxygen obtained varies between 21% (air) and 30%. The results relate to the heights of dropping flame based on initial rates of CH 4 , air and oxygen percentages. Stability diagrams showing the states of the flame and transitions between these states are built. The reduction drop observed during the addition of oxygen is explained by the increase in laminar flame speed and increased heat release due to a higher flame temperature. Keywords: laminar diffusion flame -lifted flame -oxygen enriched air -flame stability. Introduction Oxygen is the component of air which plays the dominant role in the combustion reactions. Many studies have been conducted on flames in air enriched with oxygen and several objectives are aimed: increasing the flame temperature and thus improving energy efficiency, reducing fuel consumption, increasing the concentration of CO 2 emissions and reducing emissions of nitrogen oxides. Previous studies have been conducted to examine the effect of this enrichment on flame characteristics: laminar speed boundary extinction, frequency and amplitude of oscillations and vortices instabilities. The effect on the frequency and amplitude of oscillations of the top of the flame was studied by Gotoda et al
