Isospin mode splitting and mixing in asymmetric nuclear matter

    Get PDF
We estimate exclusive density and asymmetry parameter dependent dispersion relations of various charged states of pions in asymmetric nuclear matter. The possibility of matter induced mixing of π0\pi^0 with η\eta is clearly exposed with the further mass modification of π0\pi^0 meson due to mixing. Asymmetry driven mass splitting and mixing amplitude are of the same order as the corresponding values in vacuum. Closed form analytic results for the mass shifts and dispersion relations with and without mixing are presented. Furthermore, we discuss the sensitivity of our results on the scalar mean field within the framework of Quantum Hadrodynamics.Comment: 8 pages, 4 Figure

Validity of the Generalized Second Law of Thermodynamics of the Universe Bounded by the Event Horizon in Brane Scenario

In this paper, we examine the validity of the generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) of the universe bounded by the event horizon in brane-world gravity. Here we consider homogeneous and isotropic model of the universe filled with perfect fluid in one case and in another case holographic dark energy model of the universe has been considered. The conclusions are presented point wise.Comment: 8 pages, the paper has been accepted in EPJC for publication. Conclusion has been modified an some references have been adde

Formulation and evaluation of matrix microspheres for simultaneous delivery of salbutamol sulphate and theophylline

Purpose: The objective of this study was to formulate and evaluate a matrix microsphere system for simultaneous delivery of two anti-asthmatic drugs Salbutamol sulphate and Theophylline which are often indicated for the management of asthma, their frequent dosing may reduce compliance, thus making a prolonged release formulation necessary. Ethylcellulose was used as a retardant polymer and its compatibility with the drugs and the drug-drug compatibility were established through IR, XRD and DSC studies. Method: Microspheres were prepared by emulsion solvent evaporation using acetone/light liquid paraffin system. Tween 80 was used as the dispersing agent and cyclohexane was added to harden the microspheres. The prepared microspheres were characterized for their micromeritic properties and drug loading, as well as by infrared spectroscopy (IR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), x-ray powder diffractometry (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The in vitro release studies were performed in pH 7.4, phosphate buffer. Result: The prepared microspheres were white, free flowing and spherical in shape. The drug-loaded microspheres showed 67-91% of entrapment and release was extended upto 6 to 8 h. The infrared spectra, differential scanning calorimetry thermographs and XRD spectra all showed the stable character of both the drugs in the drug-loaded microspheres and revealed the absence of drug-polymer interactions. Scanning electron microscopy study revealed that the microspheres were spherical and porous in nature. Conclusion: The matrix microspheres have a potential for the prolongation and simultaneous delivery of the anti asthmatic drugs (salbutamol and theophylline). The Deep Purple Color and the Scent are Two Great Qualities of the Black Scented Rice (Chakhao) of Manipur

Specialty rice varieties with unique properties such as unique color, flavor, aroma and nutraceutical qualities are increasingly in demand other than the traditional white rice varieties. Black rice has various nutraceutical properties with high anthocyanin content and the anthocyanin antioxidants are very important in preventing various diseases. Black scented rice of Manipur, which are commonly known as Chakhao, are deep purple colored and scented, and are very glutinous, as well. Two Chakhao cultivars, Chakhao Poireiton and Chakhao Amubi, were shown to have high anthocyanin and phenolics content and strong antioxidant activity. The main anthocyanins of Chakhao Poireiton are delphinidin 3‐galactoside, delphinidin 3‐arabinoside, cyanidin 3‐galactoside and cyanidin 3‐glucoside and that of Chakhao Amubi are delphinidin 3‐galactoside, delphinidin 3‐arabinoside and cyanidin 3‐galactoside. By GC‐MS analysis, a cross mixture of 26 volatile compounds from Chakhao Poireiton and 11 volatile compounds from Chakhao Amubi were found to be responsible for emanating the aroma. Among the complex mixture of volatile oil components, n‐hexadecanoic acid and octadec‐9‐enoic acid were the most abundant in Chakhao Poireiton and 17‐pentatriacontene, l3‐octadecenal (Z) and hexadecenoic acid eicosyl ester in Chakhao Amubi

Matter induced charge symmetry breaking and pion form factor in nuclear medium

Medium modification of pion form factor has been evaluated in asymmetric nuclear matter. It is shown that both the shape and the pole position of the pion form factor in dense asymmetric nuclear matter is different from its vacuum counterpart with ρ\rho-ω\omega mixing. This is due to the density and asymmetry dependent ρ\rho-ω\omega mixing which could even dominate over its vacuum counterpart in matter. Effect of the in-medium pion factor on experimental observables {\it e.g.}, invariant mass distribution of lepton pairs has been demonstrated.Comment: Final Version to appear in Jour. Phys.

Scalar-Tensor Theory of Gravity and Generalized Second Law of Thermodynamics on the Event Horizon

In blackhole physics, the second law of thermodynamics is generally valid whether the blackhole is a static or a non-static one. Considering the universe as a thermodynamical system the second law of blackhole dynamics extends to the non-negativity of the sum of the entropy of the matter and the horizon, known as generalized second law of thermodynamics(GSLT). Here, we have assumed the universe to be bounded by the event-horizon or filled with perfect fluid and holographic dark energy in two cases. Thus considering entropy to be an arbitrary function of the area of the event-horizon, we have tried to find the conditions and the restrictions over the scalar field and equation of state for the validity of the GSLT and both in quintessence-era and in phantom-era in scalar tensor theory.Comment: 8 page

    FRW Universe in Ho\~rava Gravity

Recently, a field theoretic model for a UV complete theory of gravity has been proposed by Ho\~{r}ava. This theory is a non-relativistic renormalizable gravity theory which coincides with Einstein's general relativity at large distances. Subsequently L\"{u} et al have formulated the modified Friedmann equations and have presented a solution in vacuum. In the present work, we rewrite the modified FRW equations in the form of usual FRW equations in Einstein gravity and consequences has been analyzed. Also the thermodynamics of the FRW universe has been studied
