Persistence in the zero-temperature dynamics of the QQ-states Potts model on undirected-directed Barab\'asi-Albert networks and Erd\"os-R\'enyi random graphs

The zero-temperature Glauber dynamics is used to investigate the persistence probability $P(t)$ in the Potts model with $Q=3,4,5,7,9,12,24,64, 128$, $256, 512, 1024,4096,16384$,..., $2^{30}$ states on {\it directed} and {\it undirected} Barab\'asi-Albert networks and Erd\"os-R\'enyi random graphs. In this model it is found that $P(t)$ decays exponentially to zero in short times for {\it directed} and {\it undirected} Erd\"os-R\'enyi random graphs. For {\it directed} and {\it undirected} Barab\'asi-Albert networks, in contrast it decays exponentially to a constant value for long times, i.e, $P(\infty)$ is different from zero for all $Q$ values (here studied) from $Q=3,4,5,..., 2^{30}$; this shows "blocking" for all these $Q$ values. Except that for $Q=2^{30}$ in the {\it undirected} case $P(t)$ tends exponentially to zero; this could be just a finite-size effect since in the other "blocking" cases you may have only a few unchanged spins.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures for IJM

Variação da produtividade do arroz de terras altas influenciados pela seca meteorológica em Goiás.

A seca é um fenômeno meteorológico caracterizado pela falta de precipitação pluvial, que pode causar grandes prejuízos à produção agrícola. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo caracterizar a ocorrência de seca, utilizando o Índice Padronizado de Precipitação (SPI) em cinco microrregiões do estado de Goiás e sua influencia na produtividade de arroz de terras altas. As cinco microrregiões estudadas foram: Anápolis, Ceres, Iporá, Anicuns e Goiânia. A série de dados históricos de precipitação foi disponibilizada pela Agência Nacional de Águas (ANA), coletados em um município pertencente à microrregião analisada. O período de estudo foi de 1975 a 2005. Os dados de produtividade, para o mesmo período foi disponibilizado pela AGROTEC. Os valores do SPI foram caracterizados pela a ocorrência dos eventos de seca, frequência relativa, comparação com os dados de produtividade do arroz de terras altas e o percentual de acerto do índice. Foi possível observar que o SPI não acompanhou totalmente a variação da produtividade do arroz de terras altas. Optical and Near Infrared Study of the Cepheus E outflow, a very low excitation object

We present images and spectra of the Cepheus E (Cep E) region at both optical and infrared wavelengths. Only the brightest region of the southern lobe of the Cep E outflow reveals optical emission, suggesting that the extinction close to the outflow source plays an important r\^ole in the observed difference between the optical and IR morphologies. Cep E is a unique object since it provides a link between the spectroscopic properties of the optical Herbig-Haro (HH) objects and those of deeply embedded outflows.Comment: Accepted Astron. Internationalization of board members and compliance with mandatory disclosure: Empirical study of IFRS 3 (business combinations) in Brazil

The determinants tested in the mandatory disclosure are usually about business and cultural factors. However, the board members have a strong power of decision on the information disclosed, so it is natural that the characteristics of board members can influence the fulfillment of disclosure. This study analyses the level of compliance with IFRS 3 and examines whether it is influenced by the level of internationalization of board members. Can Memory Assessment Services (MAS) in England be categorized? A national survey.

: The effectiveness and efficiency of memory assessment services (MASs) is unknown. Our aim was to determine if a typology can be constructed, based on shared structural and process characteristics, as a basis for a non-randomized evaluation of their effectiveness and cost-effectiveness. : Survey of random sample of 73 MASs in 2015; comparison of characteristics and investigation of inter-correlation. : It was not possible to group characteristics to form the basis of a typology of MASs. However, there was considerable variation in staff numbers (20-fold), new patients per whole-time equivalent (WTE) staff (20-fold), skill mix and the nurse:doctor ratio (1-10). The operational performance also varied: first appointments (50-120 minutes); time for first follow-up (2-12 weeks); frequency of follow-up in first year (1-5). These differences were not associated with the number of new patients per WTE staff or the accreditation status of the MAS. Post diagnosis, all MASs provided pharmacological treatment but the availability of non-pharmacological support varied, with half providing none or only one intervention while others providing four or more. : In the absence of any clear typology, evaluation of MASs will need to focus on the impact of individual structural and process characteristics on outcomes.<br/
