Liquid cooled brassiere and method of diagnosing malignant tumors therewith
A device for enhancing the detection of malignant tissue in the breasts of a woman was described. A brassiere-like garment which is fitted with a pair of liquid-perfused cooling panels which completely and compliantly cover the breasts and upper torso was studied. The garment is connected by plastic tubing to a liquid cooling system comprising a fluid pump, a solenoid control valve for controlling the flow of fluid to either the cooling unit or the heating unit, a fluid reservoir, a temperature sensor in the reservoir, and a restrictor valve to control the pressure in the garment inlet cooling line

THE EFFECT OF STEREOTYPE ON COGNITIVE PERFORMANCE: AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF FEMALE COGNITIVE PERFORMANCE
This study investigated the effect stereotypes have on cognitive performance. A between-subjects experimental design was utilized in the study. Forty participants from the senior secondary two (SS2) of Chapel Secondary School Ilorin took part in the study, and their cognitive performance in the light of exposure to a stereotype was
measured. Four hypotheses were tested. Using the t-test for
independent samples, the findings of the experiment showed that males performed better than females on a mathematics test when exposed to stereotype (t=2.688, df=l8, p<O.OS). The study also found that males who were exposed to stereotype performed better than males who were not exposed to stereotype (t=2.998, df=l8, p< 0.05).
However, there was no significant difference in the performance of females who were exposed to stereotype and those who were not (t=2.740, df=l8, p>O.OS). Stereotypes have been identified to affect the way people see things and the way they interpret certain behaviours of
other individuals or groups. Therefore understanding the nature of stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination is the first step in combating these practices
Fabry-Perot Measurements of the Dynamics of Globular Cluster Cores: M15 (NGC~7078)
We report the first use of the Rutgers Imaging Fabry-Perot Spectrophotometer
to study the dynamics of the cores of globular clusters. We have obtained
velocities for cluster stars by tuning the Fabry-Perot to take a series of
narrow-band images at different wavelengths across one of the Na D (5890 AA)
absorption lines. Measuring the flux in every frame yields a short portion of
the spectrum for each star simultaneously. This proves to be a very efficient
method for obtaining accurate stellar velocities; in crowded regions we are
able to measure hundreds of velocities in 3-4 hours of observing time. We have
measured velocities with uncertainties of less than 5 km/s for 216 stars within
1.5' of the center of the globular cluster M15 (NGC 7078). The paper is a
