A szövegalkotási kompetencia korpusz alapĂş vizsgálata Ă©s számĂtĂłgĂ©pes elemzĂ©se az angol mint idegen nyelvben = A corpus-based and computerised analysis of discourse competence in text produced by Hungarian learners of English
A kutatási program egyik fĹ‘ eredmĂ©nye a közel 2,4 milliĂł szavas Magyarországi angolnyelv-tanulĂłi szövegtár lĂ©trehozása. A szövegtár kĂ©t alkorpuszbĂłl áll: az ÉrvelĹ‘ esszĂ© alkorpuszbĂłl (544.473 szĂł), amelynek egy rĂ©sze az International Corpus of Learner English rĂ©sze, Ă©s a Szakdolgozat alkorpuszbĂłl (1.814.772 szĂł). A kutatás másik eredmĂ©nye, hogy elmĂ©leti Ă©s empirikus vizsgálatai rĂ©vĂ©n Ăşj ismeretekkel gazdagĂtja a hazai Ă©s nemzetközi szakirodalmat a diskurzuselemzĂ©s, a kontrasztĂv retorika Ă©s a szaknyelv-oktatás terĂĽletĂ©n. Kidolgoztuk az Ă©rvelĹ‘ esszĂ©k Ă©s a tudományos dolgozatok (szakdolgozatok) strukturális/retorikai elemzĂ©sĂ©nek Ăşn. mozzanat-struktĂşra modelljeit. E modellek lehetĹ‘vĂ© teszik magyar anyanyelvűek angolul Ărt Ă©rvelĹ‘ Ă©s tudományos szövegeinek elemzĂ©sĂ©t, valamint a szövegek korpuszban törtĂ©nĹ‘ funkcionális kĂłdolását. KözlemĂ©nyeink rĂ©szletesen foglalkoznak a kutatás pedagĂłgiai implikáciĂłival is. | One of the main outcomes of this research is the almost 2.4 million-word Hungarian Corpus of Learner English (HuCLE). The corpus contains two sub-corpora: the Argumentative Essay Sub-corpus (544,473 words), part of which constitutes the Hungarian sub-corpus of the International Corpus of Learner English, and the Thesis Sub-corpus (1,814,772 words). Another important outcome is that considerable amount of new knowledge has been produced in the fields of discourse analysis, contrastive rhetoric, and the teaching of English for academic purposes. We have devised new move-structure models for the structural/rhetorical analysis of argumentative essays and research papers (theses). These models allow for the study of Hungarian EFL speakers argumentative and academic discourse, as well as for the functional coding of the texts of the corpus. Our corpus-based investigations describe the most important discourse strategies of Hungarian EFL learners in argumentation and academic writing (e.g., argumentative thesis statements, move structure, authorial identity) and pinpoint the differences between native speaker?s and EFL learners? texts. The results show a number of discrepancies between the discourse strategies of English L1 and EFL speakers: therefore it is argued that the identification of the differences is crucial in designing efficient English academic writing courses. Our publications also report on the pedagogical implications of the research
SzakfordĂtás angolrĂłl magyarra: jellegzetes műveletek, a fordĂtott szövegek jellemzĹ‘i Ă©s Ă©rtĂ©kelĂ©se = English-Hungarian technical translation: characteristic operations, translated text, evaluation
1. A kutatĂłk lĂ©trehoztak egy fĹ‘- Ă©s egy kiegĂ©szĂtĹ‘ rĂ©szbĹ‘l állĂł angol-magyar párhuzamos szaknyelvi korpuszt. A fĹ‘ korpusz mintegy egy milliĂł szĂłt tartalmaz, publikált könyvekbĹ‘l Ă©s jelentĂ©sekbĹ‘l áll. A kiegĂ©szĂtĹ‘ korpusz mintegy 500 ezer szĂłt tartalmaz a SZIE szakfordĂtĂłi kĂ©pzĂ©sĂ©ben 2002 Ă©s 2008 között vĂ©gzett szakfordĂtĂł hallgatĂłk kĂ©pesĂtĹ‘ fordĂtásaibĂłl. A korpusz 7 szakterĂĽletrĹ‘l gyűjtött szövegeket. Az angol szövegeket a Winclaws szoftverrel szĂłfaj szerinti jelölĂ©ssel láttuk el, majd a Paraconc szoftver segĂtsĂ©gĂ©vel a magyar szövegekkel szinkronizáltuk. 2. A kutatĂłk a szakfordĂtás Ă©s a szakfordĂtĂłkĂ©pzĂ©s kĂ©rdĂ©seit vizsgálták, rĂ©szben a korpusz lĂ©trehozásának elĹ‘kĂ©szĂtĂ©sekĂ©nt, rĂ©szben a korpusz segĂtsĂ©gĂ©vel, rĂ©szben attĂłl fĂĽggetlenĂĽl. Tisztáztuk a szakfordĂtás Ă©s az irodalmi fordĂtás viszonyát, illetve kĂĽlönbsĂ©geit. Vizsgáltuk az ekvivalencia kĂ©rdĂ©sĂ©t Ă©s a relevancia-elmĂ©let alkalmazhatĂłságát a szakszövegfordĂtásban. Meghatároztuk a szaknyelvi párhuzamos korpusszal vizsgálhatĂł kĂ©rdĂ©sek körĂ©t, megvizsgáltuk a fordĂtásban alkalmazott fordĂtĂłi műveltek relatĂv gyakoriságát irodalmi Ă©s szakfordĂtásban, a terminusok fordĂtásának kĂ©rdĂ©seit. ElmĂ©leti sĂkon vizsgáltuk a műfaj-transzfer kompetencia Ă©s stratĂ©giák kĂ©rdĂ©seit, az explicitáciĂłs hipotĂ©zist Ă©s az aszimmetria-hipotĂ©zist. Tisztáztuk a műfaj, regiszter Ă©s szövegtĂpus fogalmát, a nyelvi normák, a kvázi-helyessĂ©g kĂ©rdĂ©seit Ă©s a szaknyelvi kollokáciĂłk kĂ©rdĂ©seit. | 1. A bilingual English-Hungarian corpus of non-literary texts has been built to study the processes of English-Hungarian specialized translation. The main corpus comprises published books and reports (cca. 1 million words), and a subcorpus contains translations made by translator students graduating from SZIE University between 2002-2008. Texts were collected from 8 subject areas. The texts were POS-tagged using Winclaws and aligned using Paraconc. 2. Issues in specialized translation were studied by the researchers, some aimed at preparing the building of the corpus and some carried out using the corpus. Some issues were of a more theoretical nature. The range of topics that can be investigated using a bilingual corpus was determined, and the relative frequency of transfer operations in literary and specialized translation as well as problems in the translation of terminology were explored. Other issues involved the problem of language norms, quasi-correctness and collocations in translation. From a more theoretical perspective the relationship and differences between literary and specialized translation and the issue of equivalence and the applicability of relevance theory to specialized translation were studied. The concepts of genre, register, text type, genre transfer competence and strategies were clarified. The explicitation hypothesis, as well as the asymmetry hypothesis, an extension of the latter, in which one of the participants can claim credit, was studied
