    Disfluency on Speech Production Made by English Department Students of IAIN Salatiga Based on Their Length of Study

    This present research deals with the disfluency on speech production made by English Department of IAIN Salatiga based on their length of study. The objectives of this research are to identify the types of disfluency, the dominant type of disfluency, and the difference and similarity of disfluency made by English Department students of IAIN Salatiga. The type of this research is qualitative research. The data of this research are utterances containing disfluencies taken from the second and the fourth semester students. In collecting data, the researcher listens to the audio record carefully, writes the scripts of the audios, gives questionnaire, then identifies the data, and selects the data deals with the types of dislfuency. The researcher uses the theory of Clark and Wasow, Shriberg, Levelt, and Fox Tree to analyze the disfluencies. The results indicate that there are three types of disfluencies made by English Department students of IAIN Salatiga are hesitation, repetition, and overt repair. They are analyzed by their length of study that is taken from second and fourth semester students. The dominant type of disfluency which is made by the students is hesitation. Then, the difference is the total number of disfluencies that are produced by second and fourth semester students. The similarities of disfluency that found by the researcher are first the types of disfluencies which are hesitation, repetition, and overt repair.
