    Get PDF
Business and commercial outfits are named after divine names and attributes of God. Hardly will one visit or take a walk around any city in Nigeria without noticing commercial outfits or businesses named after God. Be that as it may, one will expect such businesses and owners to be of highly infectious integrity! But that make not be the case, as wrong measures, shortfalls and cutting-corners are the order of the day in businesses in Nigeria. This study, therefore, looks at businesses that have a religious connotation in their registration identity and Christian businessmen and women; with a view of assessing them from the biblical injunction of integrity in business and how faithful they are to what they professed. Purposive selection of businesses that have divine affiliation and one hundred samples of those who patronise them will form the fulcrum of this work. The questionnaire used was interpreted and analysed through descriptive statistics It is believed that whosoever is named with God should depart from 'iniquity' and live up to the expectation of what they believed and confessed, to be a shining light to others as the Bible enjoins

A publication of the Dictionary of African Christian Biography with U.S. offices located at the Center for Global Christianity and Mission at Boston University. The editors are pleased to offer the first annual cumulative volume of the Journal of African Christian Biography, the monthly scholarly publication that was launched in June of 2016. Since then, the life stories of twelve individuals who played vital roles in and through their faith communities have been published online as free downloads. But it is important that a selection of DACB stories be more readily available to those without access to the internet. As I mentioned in the fall 2016 newsletter of the DACB, each issue of the journal is available in its e-journal, on-line version, where it is configured either as A4 or 8.5 x 11 format printable as booklets, ready for local printing and binding or stapling. Our intention is to make it easy for academics and church leaders in various parts of Africa to make print copies of the journal available to their students, colleagues or church members. And so it is with this cumulative volume. This issue focuses on: 1. "Walatta Petros and Hakalla Amale, Pious Women of Ethiopia," with commentary by Dr. Jonathan Bonk, Project Director. 2. Walatta Petros. 3. Hakalla Amale. 4. Bishop Josiah Kibira of Tanzania, Ecumenical Statesman. 5. Josiah Mutabuzi Isaya Kibira. 6. Josiah Kibira. 7. David Lonkibiri Windibiziri. 8. Abiodun Babatunde Lawrence. 9. Dominic Ignatius Ekandem. 10. William Wadé Harris, Prophet-Evangelist of West Africa: His Life, Message, Praxis, Heritage, and Legacy. 11. William Wadé Harris. 12. 'Dressed in Borrowed Robes' : The Experience of the New Pentecostal Movements in Nigeria

    Get PDF
The leaders of the new Pentecostal Churches (NPC) are known to be very critical of the 'old ' African Indigenous Churches (AICs) beliefs and practices. It is fascinating however that the two ((NPCs & AICs) have apparent prominent similarities. This article discusses eight spheres where the similaritiesare most noticeable. We argued that it is only natural to make a case that the influence passed on from the old (AICs) to the new denomination (NPCs). We observed that with more competition amongst denominations or membership the spirit of mutual simulation is increasing. The article concludes that the mutual borrowing of 'attractive robes' by the main denominations in Nigeria has ecumenical implications. It should be more feasible now than ever before for all denominations to work together towards new-fangled evangelism, church development and growth
