    Get PDF
As the world's knowledge is increasingly being published or converted into an ecommerce form, one of the greatest challenges is designing systems that enable users to find what they need. Electronic commerce, commonly known as e-commerce or eCommerce, consists of the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks. Nowadays, people are getting busier and even busier and so they have limited time to go to the bookstore to find and buy the desired books. So, it will be much better to have an online bookstore in UTP to ease the users and to save time as well. Basically, Online Bookstore is purposely going to be developed because of some objectives which are to ease the users, to save time, to enable user to search the information of the books at anytime and anywhere they wish and also to make these materials more broadly, quickly and efficiently accessible Basically, to make things done, a lot of things need to be considered especially in integrating the system with the database. In order to do that, the system must be connected to the database. The methodology applied for this project is The Waterfall Development Methodology which involved 4 different steps which are Planning & Problem Definition, Information Gathering & Research, Design, Building Application, and last but not least is Testing. As a conclusion, in developing this system, a lot ofthings need to be done especially to understand the concepts of mobile application, how to connect to database and how to fix the error or any problems that occurred

Performance can be regarded as almost any behavior, which is directed toward task or goal accomplishment. Despite extensive research, discussion and debate on how to predict employees' performance, teachers performance is complex and remains difficult to predict and evaluate. Teachers are still uncertain whether they can rely on some specific characteristics of performance. In view of this practice and in evaluating teachers' performance at the work place, it is therefore the interest of the researcher to conduct a study on secondary school teachers, so as to determine their job motivation and job performance. The second objective of this study is to compare job motivation with job performance and the third one is to compare teaching performance with job performance of secondary school teachers. This correlation study involved a total of 245 secondary school teachers throughout Kedah. Data will be analyzed using the t-test and ANOV

Classroom goal structure in the learning of mathematics

    Get PDF
According to achievement goal theory, classroom learning environment or contextual factors influence students' learning. For instance, classroom that promotes mastery learning may cultivate or inculcate task-focused goals among students. However, classroom that focuses too much on competition may encourage performance goal.Studies on classroom goal structure have focused on the relationship between the purpose or meaning of achievement behaviour that is communicated to (by teachers) and perceived (by students) and a variety of student beliefs and behaviours. The objective of this paper is to examine students' perception of classroom goal structure or orientation as communicated by their teachers. This study on 1849 adolescents (900 males and 949 females) from 30 secondary schools in the northern state of the country found them to be more task-focused (promoting mastery learning) than performance focused. There were differences in the two dimensions of classroom goal structure in terms of some selected independent variables. The findings of the study bear some implications for theory and practice

Socio-economic status not only influences family beliefs about values of education, but may affect how academic expectations are communicated by parents and perceived by their children. This study examined (1) the level of parental involvement (achievement values' interest in homework and discussion on school matters) among Malay parents, and (2) parental involvement and its relationship with academic achievement. Measures of parents' involvement were obtained from Malay boys (n=146) and girls (n =284), aged seventeen, 1iving with both biologica1 parents. Adolescents' perceptions of materna1 and paternal involvement at home were measured using Paternal and Maternal Parental Involvement Scale (Paulson, 1994b). Results indicated that Malay parents tend to emphasize more on achievement values, less on interest in homework and discussion on school matters. In terms of gender differences, there were significant differences between mothers' and fathers' involvement and these differences were-found to differ towards sons and daughters. Discussions and implications were outlined

A greenhouse trial was carried out with the aim of assessing the Se concentration and Se uptake in different plant parts especially in rice grains and also the effect of Selenium on rice plant yield and some yield components. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Three rice varieties (MR232, MR219 and MR253) and five rates of sodium selenite (Na2SeO3) including 0, 100, 300, 500 and 700 g ha-1 were selected. It was observed that leaf, culm and the grain of rice varieties as well as total Se uptake and grain uptake were affected by used Se rates. All the Se levels used in this study have been able to increase Se level in rice grains to be acceptable for human consumption but among the different Se levels supplied, the level of 500 g ha-1 of Se is recommended rate in order to increase Se concentration in grain. Plant dry matter yield, grain yield and yield components were not affected by the different supplied Se concentrations

Patterns of teacher trainee grammar talk in second language classrooms

    Get PDF
Literature in Language Teacher Education (LTE) has highlighted that teaching of grammar should be included as a foundational framework for all language teaching. This indicates that teacher trainees need to be trained with a firm foundation for grammar teaching in language classrooms. Thus, an investigation on how teacher trainees taught grammar and the pattern of their grammar instruction can provide insights to teacher trainees and teacher educators on grammar teaching methodology practised in language classrooms. By understanding how teacher trainees present grammar in their classrooms and what patterns emerged from their grammar instruction can lead to ongoing process of searching for better grammar teaching in language classrooms. This article shares the findings on an investigation conducted on how and what was practised by teacher trainees in their grammar instruction. Two prevalent patterns were discovered. Transmission technique which is teacher fronted and interaction technique which is teacher-student-teacher fronted were commonly practised by the trainees. However, the teacher-fronted technique dominates the interaction technique. This signals that teacher educators need to promote more interactive techniques in the LTE programme so that trainees are trained to teach grammar by utilising more interactive techniques such as questioning (to use more convergent and divergent questions instead of literal questions) and giving corrective feedback (to elicit and recast instead of repeating) which promote two-way grammar teaching

Optimum Welding Parameters for Friction Stir Welded AA6063 Pipe Butt Joint Using the Taguchi Method

    Get PDF
Welding parameters for pipe joint friction stir welding (FSW) have been identified based on L-9 orthogonal arrays used in the Taguchi Method. Different welding parameters, such as rotation speed, travel speed and axial force, have been used to produce several quality friction stir welded AA6063 pipe butt joints. The reliability of products obtained in the FSW process can be improved through the identification of the optimum combination of welding parameters. Weld quality was evaluated based on its tensile strength and residual stress profiles. The S/N analysis and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) have been used to determine significant welding parameters that affect weld quality. Maximum tensile strength with acceptable residual stress was obtained at the optimum welding parameters of 1300 rpm, 5 mm/s and axial force between 5 and 6 kN. The goal of this study was to optimize welding parameters for high tensile strength and low residual stress
