    Distribución, autoecología y biogeografía de los Dryopidae y Elmidae (Coleoptera, Dryopoidea) en las islas Baleares

    The distribution of the Dryopidae and Elmidae in the Balearic Islands was studied. Three species of Dryopidae —Dryops algiricus (Lucas, 1949), D. gracilis (Karsch, 1881) and D. sulcipennis (Costa, 1883)— and one of Elmidae —Oulimnius echinatus Berthélemy, 1979— were found. Bibliographical data of other three species of Dryopidae exist, but their presence is either refuted —Dryops lutulentus (Erichson, 1847)— or requires confirmation —Dryops luridus (Erichson, 1847) and D. rufipes (Krynicki, 1832)—. Dryops gracilis and D. sulcipennis are recorded for first time in the archipelago. The first autecological data of the different species in the archipelago and a biogeographical analysis are provided.Se realiza un estudio sobre la distribución de los Dryopidae y Elmidae en las islas Baleares. Tres especies de Dryopidae —Dryops algiricus (Lucas, 1949), D. gracilis (Karsch, 1881) y D. sulcipennis (Costa, 1883)— y una de Elmidae —Oulimnius echinatus Berthélemy, 1979— han sido halladas. Existen datos bibliográficos de otras tres especies de Dryopidae, pero su presencia es excluida —Dryops lutulentus (Erichson, 1847)— o se considera que debe ser confirmada —Dryops luridus (Erichson, 1847) y D. rufipes (Krynicki, 1832)—.     Pure spin current manipulation in antiferromagnetically exchange coupled heterostructures

    We present a model to describe the spin currents generated by ferromagnet/spacer/ferromagnet exchange coupled trilayer systems and heavy metal layers with strong spin-orbit coupling. By exploiting the magnitude of the exchange coupling (oscillatory RKKY-like coupling) and the spin-flop transition in the magnetization process, it has been possible to produce spin currents polarized in arbitrary directions. The spin-flop transition of the trilayer system originates pure spin currents whose polarization vector depends on the exchange field and the magnetization equilibrium angles. We also discuss a protocol to control the polarization sign of the pure spin current injected into the metallic layer by changing the initial conditions of magnetization of the ferromagnetic layers previously to the spin pumping and inverse spin Hall effect experiments. The small differences in the ferromagnetic layers lead to a change in the magnetization vector rotation that permits the control of the sign of the induced voltage components due to the inverse spin Hall effect. Our results can lead to important advances in hybrid spintronic devices with new functionalities, particularly, the ability to control microscopic parameters such as the polarization direction and the sign of the pure spin current through the variation of macroscopic parameters, such as the external magnetic field or the thickness of the spacer in antiferromagnetic exchange coupled systems.Fil: Avilés Félix, L.. This new operator is an extension of the ordered weighted average (OWA) operator that can be used in cases where we have two sets of data that want to be compared. Some of the main characteristics of this new operator are: 1) Not all the decision makers are equally important, so the information needs to be prioritized, 2) The information has a probability to occur and 3) The decision makers can change the importance of the information based in an induced variable. Additionally, characteristics and families of the PIPOWAD operator are presented. Finally, an application of the PIPOWAD operator in order to measure government transparency in Mexico is presented

    Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: case report and topic review

    Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES) is characterized by gastrin-secreting neuroendocrine tumors (gastrinomas) in the duodenum or pancreas. It is a rare condition, most patients are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, and a higher incidence in men. Gastrinomas are associated with a high risk of malignancy and the diagnosis is confirmed by the secretin stimulation test and imaging studies such as octreotide scintigraphy. We present the case of a 24-year-old man who presented with melena, asthenia, adynamia and abdominal pain, in addition to a history of peptic ulcer. Laboratory tests revealed low levels of hemoglobin and elevated levels of gastrin. Endoscopy showed a giant ulcer and subsequent surgery revealed stomach-jejunum adhesions, gastric lesions and Meckel's diverticulum. Imaging studies confirmed neuroendocrine tumor activity in the pancreas. ZES leads to sustained hypergastrinemia, causing peptic ulcers and other digestive tract complications. Gastrinomas can arise from a variety of locations and can cause peptic ulcers, malabsorption, and diarrhea. Diagnosis requires elevated fasting serum gastrin levels and hypersecretion of gastric acid. Treatment involves discontinuation of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) before diagnostic testing and surgical resection of tumors in suitable candidates. The diagnosis of ZES can be complicated due to the unreliability of the assays and the need for secretin testing. Surgical resection is recommended for sporadic gastrinomas without metastasis, while medical treatment may be necessary for postsurgical residual hyperacidity. Patients should undergo imaging studies for tumor localization and regular monitoring for complications and recurrences

    In Brazilian regions affected by the citrus sudden death disease, sweet orange cultivation depends on the use of resistant rootstocks. Rangpur lime was mainly replaced by Swingle citrumelo and Sunki mandarin rootstocks, more drought-sensitive ones. The diversification of scion selections is also desirable aiming at the increasing demand for not from concentrate orange juice (NFC) that requires high-quality fruits. In this work, we evaluated the performance of 6 selections of Valencia (IAC, Dom João, Late Burjasot IVIA 35-2, Rhode Red SRA 360, Temprana IVIA 25 and Campbell) and Natal IAC sweet oranges grafted onto Swingle citrumelo and Sunki mandarin. The planting occurred in 2001 under rain-fed cultivation in Bebedouro, northern São Paulo state, Brazil. The outline was made through randomized blocks in a 7 × 2 factorial design (selections × rootstock), with 4 replications and 2 trees in unit. Both rootstocks performed well in the region. Sunki mandarin rootstock induced greater tree size and production per plant to the scion selections, 38 and 21%, respectively, plus higher precocity of production compared to Swingle citrumelo. The later determined a greater productive efficiency, as well as a greater percentage of juice in general, albeit with lower concentrations of soluble solids and acidity. Natal IAC, Valencia IAC and Rhode Red Valencia selections presented a higher accumulated production, on average, 218.6 kg?plant?1 (2004 ? 2008), and a higher productive efficiency (kg fruit?m?3 of canopy) due to their smaller tree size.
