Polymerization of a confined π-system : Chemical synthesis of tetrahedral amorphous carbon nanoballs from graphitic carbon nanocapsules

[[abstract]]Aziridination of graphitic carbon nanocapsules (CNCs) followed by pyrolysis at 700 °C at ambient pressure yields tetrahedral amorphous carbon nanoballs (CNBs, see Figure). Because of the pyramidal character of some of the double bonds in the derivatized CNCs, a radical chain mechanism is proposed to rationalize the transformation of C sp2 hybridization in the CNCs to C sp3 hybridization in the CNBs.[[notice]]補正完畢[[journaltype]]國外[[incitationindex]]SCI[[incitationindex]]E

This paper presents the procedural and clinical results of carotid artery stenting in a retrospective monocenter study in 99 high risk patients (according to the SAPPHIRE criteria) with a mean age of 74 years. The pre-interventional grade of carotid stenosis of at least 70 % could be reduced in 86 out of 99 patients (86.9 %) to 20 % or less and in 12 out of 99 patients (12.1 %) to 50 % or less. The MACE rate (combination of death, stroke and myocardial infarction) after 30 days was 0 % in asymptomatic patients, 2.7 % (2 out of 74 patients) in symptomatic patients and 2.0 % (2 out of 99 patients) in the whole study collective. Thus, in experienced centers carotid artery stenting can produce good results even in high risk patients
