Getting beta-alpha without penguins
Oscillation effects in B0 -> Ks D0 and related processes are considered to
determine delta=beta-alpha+pi. We suggest that D0 decays to CP eigenstates used
in concert with inclusive D0 decays provide a powerful method for determining
delta cleanly i.e. without any complication from penguin processes. The CP
asymmetry is expected to be <=40% for D0 decays to non-CP eigenstates and <=80%
for decays to CP eigenstates. This method can lead to a fairly accurate

Role of Charm Factory in Extracting CKM-Phase Information via B --> DK
In this paper we study the impact of data that can be obtained from a Charm
Factory on the determination of the CKM parameter gamma from decays of the form
B -> D0 K where the D0 decays to specific inclusive and exclusive final states.
In particular, for each exclusive final state , the charm factory can
determine the strong phase difference between D0-> f and D0-bar -> f by
exploiting correlations in psi(3770)-> D0 D0-bar. This provides crucial input
to the determination of gamma via the interference of B+- -> K+- D0 -> f with
B+- -> K+- D0-bar -> f. We discuss how the method may be generalized to
inclusive final states and illustrate with a toy model how such methods may

Bounds on charged higgs boson in the 2HDM type III from Tevatron
We consider the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) of type III which leads to
Flavour Changing Neutral Currents (FCNC) at tree level. In the framework of
this model we can use an appropriate form of the Yukawa Lagrangian that makes
the type II model limit of the general type III couplings apparent. This way is
useful in order to compare with the experimental data which is model dependent.
The analytical expressions of the partial width are
derived and we compare with the data available at this energy range. We examine
the limits on the new parameters from the validness of

Desperately Seeking Non-Standard Phases via Direct CP Violation in Process
Attributing the recent CLEO discovery of to originate
(primarily) from the fragmentation of an off-shell gluon () via , , we emphasize that many such states () should
materialize. Indeed the hadronic fragments () of states are closely
related to those seen in . A particular
final state of considerable interest is . Signals from such states
in decays can be combined to provide a very sensitive search for CP
violating phase(s) from non-standard physics. The method should work even if
the contribution of these source(s) to the rates is rather small () to
the point that a comparison between theory and experiment may find it extremely

The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon and Higgs-Mediated Flavor Changing Neutral Currents
In the two-Higgs doublet extension of the standard model, flavor-changing
neutral couplings arise naturally. In the lepton sector, the largest such
coupling is expected to be $\mu-\tau-\phi#. We consider the effects of this
coupling on the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. The resulting bound on
the coupling, unlike previous bounds, is independent of the value of other
unknown couplings. It will be significantly improved by the upcoming E821

Discrete Ambiguities in the Measurement of the Weak Phase Gamma
Several time-independent methods have been devised for measuring the phase
gamma of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle. It is shown that
such measurements generally suffer from discrete ambiguity which is at least
8-fold, not 4-fold as commonly stated. This has serious experimental
implications, which are explored in methods involving B->DK decays. The
measurement sensitivity and new physics discovery potential are estimated using

Man-machine interface analysis of the flight design system
The objective of the current effort was to perform a broad analysis of the human factors issues involved in the design of the Flight Design System (FDS). The analysis was intended to include characteristics of the system itself, such as: (1) basic structure and functional capabilities of FDS; (2) user backgrounds, capabilities, and possible modes of use; (3) FDS interactive dialogue, problem solving aids; (4) system data management capabilities; and to include, as well, such system related matters as: (1) flight design team structure; (2) roles of technicians; (3) user training; and (4) methods of evaluating system performance. Wherever possible, specific recommendations are made. In other cases, the issues which seem most important are identified. In some cases, additional analyses or experiments which might provide resolution are suggested
Distributional Impacts of Country-of-Origin Labeling in the U.S. Meat Industry
Concerns about the negative effects of U.S. meat and livestock imports on domestic livestock prices have increased interest in country-of origin labeling (COOL) legislation. An equilibrium displacement model is used to estimate short-run and long-run changes in equilibrium prices and quantities of meat and livestock in the beef, pork, and poultry sectors resulting from the implementation of COOL.
