Deciphering the Seesaw Nature of Neutrino Mass from Unitarity Violation
If neutrino masses are obtained via the canonical seesaw mechanism, based on
an underlying 2X2 mass matrix, unitarity violation of the neutrino mixing
matrix is unavoidable, but its effect is extremely small. On the other hand, in
the inverse (and linear) seesaw mechanisms, based on an underlying 3X3 mass
matrix, it can be significant and possibly observable. This 3X3 matrix is
examined in more detail, and a NEW variation (the lopsided seesaw) is proposed
which has features of both mechanisms. A concrete example based on U(1)_N is
discussed.Comment: 7 pages, no figure, linear and lopsided seesaws discusse
Fusion of Text and Image in Multimedia Information Retrieval System
Multimedia Information Retrieval is very useful for any application in our daily work. Most of the applications consist of Multimedia data that are images, text, audio and video. Multimedia information retrieval system is used to search an image. There are same meanings for different data which is also known as semantic gap. This problem is solved by fusion of text based image retrieval and content based image retrieval. Weighted Mean, OWA and WOWA are aggregation operators used in this system for the fusion of text and image numeric values. The Scale invariant feature transforms and speeded up robust feature are two algorithms for feature extraction. To increase the speed of system, the speeded up robust feature algorithm is used. Bag of Words and Bag of Visual Word approaches are used in this system for retrieving images.

RFID Based Smart Shopping Trolley with PCB Design
Shopping is captivating and addictive, but standing in never-ending billing queues is a tiring process. Even though various online shopping platforms are growing, retail shopping has never stepped back. To ease the shopping process and eliminate lengthy billing queues, a new product has to be introduced with the appropriate use of technology. This paper summarizes a Radio Frequency Identification-based smart shopping trolley that provides automatic billing and customer satisfaction. The RFID tags on the products are read by the reader present on the shopping cart. The display screen present in the cart provides the cost information and gives the final billing amount. This is then sent to the cashier`s database using a Wi-Fi module and hence saves the customer's time. This entire model is designed on the PCB and simulated
Effects of powder characteristics and chemical composition on the properties of 25Cr7Ni stainless steel fabricated by laser-powder bed fusion and evaluation of process simulation
The 25Cr7Ni stainless steel alloy system is gaining increasing interest in the oil and gas industry because of its combination of high strength and corrosion resistance properties. However, very few studies on the effects of starting powder attributes and chemical composition on the as-printed properties of 25Cr7Ni stainless steel fabricated through laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF) exist in the literature. This study examined the influence of powder attributes and chemical composition on the samples from gas atomized and water atomized 25Cr7Ni stainless steel powders, fabricated through L-PBF, on their as-printed microstructure and properties. The mechanical properties that were examined included ultimate tensile strength (UTS), elongation (%), and hardness. The corrosion behavior was also studied using linear sweep voltammetry in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution. The evolved phases were characterized using optical and scanning electron microscopy, as well as through X-ray diffraction. The gas atomized powders, with their spherical and uniform morphology, yielded as-printed parts of higher relative densities when compared to water atomized powders, with irregular morphology due to better powder bed compaction. The higher densification obtained in the L-PBF samples from gas atomized powders translated into the highest UTS, hardness, and yield strength among the L-PBF samples from water atomized powders and wrought–annealed 25Cr7Ni stainless steel. The presence of higher amounts of N and Mn in the chemical composition of the gas atomized powders over water atomized powders promoted the presence of retained austenite in the corresponding L-PBF samples. Higher amounts of Mo, combined with austenite content, yielded a higher corrosion resistance in the L-PBF samples from the gas atomized powder than in the L-PBF samples from the water atomized powders. The latter part of the work is focused on the evaluation of simulation parameters for analyzing the fabrication procedure for the L-PBF process using Simufact software. For a given set of process parameters, Simufact provides the distortion and internal stresses developed in the printed parts as output. The present study sought to evaluate the process simulation by comparing the experimental observations in terms of the part distortion achieved in a stainless steel cube fabricated through L-PBF with Simufact process simulation obtained using the same set of process parameters
Parametrically controlling solitary wave dynamics in modified Kortweg-de Vries equation
We demonstrate the control of solitary wave dynamics of modified Kortweg-de
Vries (MKdV) equation through the temporal variations of the distributed
coefficients. This is explicated through exact cnoidal wave and localized
soliton solutions of the MKdV equation with variable coefficients. The solitons
can be accelerated and their propagation can be manipulated by suitable
variations of the above parameters. In sharp contrast with nonlinear
Schr\"{o}dinger equation, the soliton amplitude and widths are time
independent.Comment: 4 pages, 5 eps figure
MeV sterile neutrinos in low reheating temperature cosmological scenarios
It is commonly assumed that the cosmological and astrophysical bounds on the
mixings of sterile with active neutrinos are much more stringent than those
obtained from laboratory measurements. We point out that in scenarios with a
very low reheating temperature T_RH << 100 MeV at the end of (the last episode
of) inflation or entropy creation, the abundance of sterile neutrinos becomes
largely suppressed with respect to that obtained within the standard framework.
Thus, in this case cosmological bounds become much less stringent than usually
assumed, allowing sterile neutrinos to be ``visible'' in future experiments.
Here, we concentrate on massive (mostly sterile) neutrinos heavier than 1 MeV.Comment: 14 pp, 7 fig
Lactobacillus plantarum (VR1) isolated from an Ayurvedic medicine (Kutajarista) ameliorates in vitro cellular damage caused by Aeromonas veronii
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p><it>Lactobacillus plantarum </it>is considered as a safe and effective probiotic microorganism. Among various sources of isolation, traditionally fermented foods are considered to be rich in <it>Lactobacillus </it>spp., which can be exploited for their probiotic attribute. Antibacterial property of <it>L. plantarum </it>has been demonstrated against various enteric pathogens in both <it>in vitro </it>and <it>in vivo </it>systems. This study was aimed at characterizing <it>L. plantarum </it>isolated from Kutajarista, an ayurvedic fermented biomedicine, and assessing its antagonistic property against a common enteropathogen <it>Aeromonas veronii</it>.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We report the isolation of <it>L. plantarum </it>(VR1) from Kutajarista, and efficacy of its cell free supernatant (CFS) in amelioration of cytotoxicity caused by <it>Aeromonas veronii</it>. On the part of probiotic attributes, VR1 was tolerant to pH 2, 0.3% bile salts and simulated gastric juice. Additionally, VR1 also exhibited adhesive property to human intestinal HT-29 cell line. Furthermore, CFS of VR1 was antibacterial to enteric pathogens like <it>Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli</it>, <it>Aeromonas veronii </it>and clinical isolates of <it>P. aeruginosa </it>and <it>E. coli</it>. Detailed study regarding the effect of VR1 CFS on <it>A. veronii </it>cytotoxicity showed a significant decrease in vacuole formation and detrimental cellular changes in Vero cells. On the other hand, <it>A. veronii </it>CFS caused disruption of tight junction proteins ZO-1 and actin in MDCK cell line, which was prevented by pre-incubation with CFS of VR1.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>This is the first study to report isolation of <it>L. plantarum </it>(VR1) from Kutajarista and characterisation for its probiotic attributes. Our study demonstrates the antagonistic property of VR1 to <it>A. veronii </it>and effect of VR1 CFS in reduction of cellular damage caused by <it>A. veronii </it>in both Vero and MDCK cell lines.</p
Controlling pulse propagation in optical fibers through nonlinearity and dispersion management
In case of the nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with designed group velocity
dispersion, variable nonlinearity and gain/loss; we analytically demonstrate
the phenomenon of chirp reversal crucial for pulse reproduction. Two different
scenarios are exhibited, where the pulses experience identical dispersion
profiles, but show entirely different propagation behavior. Exact expressions
for dynamical quasi-solitons and soliton bound-states relevant for fiber
communication are also exhibited.Comment: 4 pages, 5 eps figure
Quantum Hamilton-Jacobi analysis of PT symmetric Hamiltonians
We apply the quantum Hamilton-Jacobi formalism, naturally defined in the
complex domain, to a number of complex Hamiltonians, characterized by discrete
parity and time reversal (PT) symmetries and obtain their eigenvalues and
eigenfunctions. Examples of both quasi-exactly and exactly solvable potentials
are analyzed and the subtle differences, in the singularity structures of their
quantum momentum functions, are pointed out. The role of the PT symmetry in the
complex domain is also illustrated.Comment: 11 page
A clean signal for a top-like isosinglet fermion at the Large Hadron Collider
We predict a clean signal at the Large Hadron Collider (=14 TeV for
a scenario where there is a top-like, charge +2/3 vectorlike isosinglet
fermion. Such a quark, via mixing with the standard model top, can undergo
decays via both flavour-changing Z-boson coupling and flavour-changing Yukawa
interactions. We concentrate on the latter channel, and study the situation
where, following its pair-production, the heavy quark pair gives rise to two
tops and two Higgs boson. We show that the case where each Higgs decays in the
channel, there can be a rather distinct and background-free signal
that can unveil the existence of the vectorlike isosinglet quark of this kind.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures, 4 table
