Pain due to red degeneration of fibroid during pregnancy is usually associated with large myomas. Necrobiosis / red degeneration typically manifests itself about midpregnancy when Lhe leiomyoma suddenly becomes acutely painful, enlarged and tender. The common differential diagnosis of this condition are torsion of the pedicle of an ovarian cyst/a leiomyoma, abruplion placentae, acute pyelitis or any abdominal catastrophe. Ultrasound can easily delineate the presence of myomas of mixed echogenicity along with pregnancy and clinical findings usually suggest the diagnosis of pregnancy complicated by red degeneration of fibroid. The acute pain usually subsides within 3-10 days of conservative treatment. Only refractory cases (2% of patients) may demand surgical intervention in early gestation with the known risk of miscarriage. Here we report a pregnancy managed at 13 weeks by myomectomy for red degeneration. The patient ultimately delivered a healthy female child at 38 weeks by lower segment caesarean section

Background: This study aimed to characterize the scenario of buffalo production in the northern part of Bangladesh and review the published scientific literature on buffalo from Bangladesh. Methods: The study was conducted from August to December 2022. A draft questionnaire was prepared and modified before the final one based on the study's objectives. Data were collected through personal interviews with individual respondents. In addition, the review article was collected on buffalo from Google, Google Scholar, Research Gate, Scopus, Bangladesh Journal-Online (BJO), and PubMed. Results: Data was collected from 1099 animals from the northern part of the Natore and Lalmonirhat districts of Bangladesh. Most of the farmers were illiterate, and the age was above 40 years. Regarding the purpose of buffalo production, 69.16% (n=83) of the farmers narrated that they are motivated to milk with calves selling. The average herd size was about 9 and consisted of indigenous and crossbred buffaloes. Most of the farmers kept their buffalo in the Bathan. The coat color was predominantly black, with brown hair. Farmers 94.16% (n=113) practice de-worming, and the frequency was thrice a year. Wallowing is performed at least once a day in the pond or river for the thermal regulation of the buffalo. Among the farmers, 67.50% (n=81) have no training in rearing buffalo. Farmers practice natural mating by their own or neighbor bull to serve the heated cow. Sometimes it’s free, or sometimes, with payment on an average of BDT 400-500 or 3.79-4.73 US dollars. In some areas, AI is being practiced in buffalo under different organizations (LAL Teer, BRAC), and the cost of AI was recorded as about BDT 600-700 or 5.68-6.63 US dollars per cow. The average daily milk yield was 3.0 liter, whereas the lactation length was recorded at 179.9±3.84 days. The major constraints were high feed price 91.66% (n=110), shortage of land 41.08% (n=51), and lack of suitable marketing facilities 50.82% (n=62). 100% of farmers stated that they need improved grass production technology and reduced feed and medicine price; 24.16% (n=29) need good quality semen. From 2004 to 2022, 51 studies were found related to buffalo, where the highest 27.45% (n=14) belonged to performance studies, and 54.90% (n=28) studies were carried out in the southern part of Bangladesh. Conclusion: It can be concluded that buffalo has great potential with different areas of improvement. Therefore, more research is needed from different perspectives on production, reproduction, nutrition, quality of milk/meat/products, health, and sustainability of buffalo farming in Bangladesh

The study was conducted to find out hilsha fish marketing system in Dhaka city of Bangladesh. Hilsha fish (Tenualosa ilisha) is the national fish our country and all people like this fish on their meal but due to lack of proper marketing system maximum people remain out of touch of this fish. We found that Hilsha fish comes to Dhaka city maintaining a strong marketing channel member such fishermen, faria, bapari, aratder and finally goes to consumer plate through retailer. For identifying   marketing  pattern and pricing strategies of the Hilsha   I have chosen  sample size containing 60 respondents(10 fishermen, 10 aratders,10 beparies, 10faria  and 20 retailers) and collected data   from  Jatrabari, Showarighat, Kawranbazar, Savar Kachabazar, Banani Kachabazar, Mirpur, Uttara , Krishi market,Baipal bazaar and Lunchghat of Chandpur  through questionnaire. I found that net marketing margin for per mound (40kg) varies according to channel member such as Retailer(Tk2750.5), aratder(Tk417.5), faria (Tk1791.5),  Bepari (Tk1580.5) and retailers  get maximum share of profit  margin. The marketing cost per mound (40kg) for retailer (449.5), aratder(702.5), faria(908.5), Bepari (1210.5). Price determined   at retail market based on market condition, bargaining of retailers and consumers. Fishermen  and  aratder  arrange   an auction  method for  selling their fish  as well as  faria follows open bargaining, auction and  market going price. I have also  found that Hilsh fish is so much  demanding to people  all over the world and still sold at high priced but  fishermen can not  receive  reasonable price due to  involvement of mahajons (money lenders) who  enforced fishermen  to sell  at prefixed rate as a result economic conditions of the fishermen  are not changing

    Get PDF
Shape representation methods play an important role in 3D shape recognition system. Three-dimensional shape recognition is widely used in 3D search engines, gravitational field, medical imaging, computer vision and face recognition. In this paper we propose an ellipsoidal shape representation technique for 3D shape recognition. We present some experimental and comparison results of our approach for shape matching using a standard database, Princeton Shape Benchmark. The effectiveness of our proposed algorithm is measured using nearest neighborhood. We then introduced a new idea which is a possible extension of the proposed approach and evaluate the results against human observation

A crucial public health problem in developing country like Bangladesh is resistance of antibiotics to different types of bacteria and the rates of these bacterial resistances are changing for various antibiotic therapy. Our aim was to assess the susceptible pattern of Levofloxacin a 3rd generation Quinolone antibiotic against uropathogens. A total of 12943 urine samples were collected in 2016 (Jan-Dec) and out of which 1236 (9.55%) were bacteriologically positive. Among the isolated uropathogens, 95.1% were gram negative and 4.9% gram positive organism. Male were found more prone to get UTI under 10 years and between 51-90 years of age and female were more affected in 10 to 50 years and over 90 years of age group. E. coli was the most prevalent (83.9%) isolate followed by Klebsiella spp. (6.7%), Staphylococcus aureus (2.6%), Pseudomonas spp. (2.2%), Enterococcus spp. (2.0%) and Proteus spp. (1.1%). The most predominant Levofloxacin sensitive organisms were found in male Enterobacter spp. (100%) and in female patients Serretia spp. (100%), Citrobacter spp. (100%) and Streptococcus Group B (100%). On the other hand the most predominant Levofloxacin resistant organisms were found in male and female both Acinetobacter spp. (100%). Around (61.7%) male and (46.9%) female were found resistant to E. coli. Keywords: Levofloxacin, Quinolone, UTI, Resistance, Uropathogen
