Λ\Lambda and Ks0K^0_s Production in pC Collisions at 10 Gev/c

The experimental data from the 2m propane bubble chamber have been analyzed for pCΛ(Ks0)X\to \Lambda(K^0_s)X reactions at 10 GeV/c. The estimation of experimental inclusive cross sections for Λ\Lambda and Ks0K^0_s production in the p12C^{12}C collision is equal to σΛ\sigma_{\Lambda}= 13.3±\pm1.7 mb and σKs0\sigma_{K^0_s}= 3.8±\pm0.6 mb, respectively. The measured Λ/π+\Lambda /\pi^+ ratio from pC reaction is equal to (5.3±0.8)102\pm0.8)*10^{-2}. The experimental Λ/π+\Lambda /\pi^+ ratio in the pC reaction is approximately two times larger than the Λ/π+\Lambda /\pi^+ ratio from pp reactions or from simulated pC reactions by FRITIOF model for the same energy. The Λ/π+\Lambda /\pi^+ ratio in interaction C+C at momentum 10 Gev/c is four times larger than the Λ/π+\Lambda/\pi^+ ratio from p+p reactions at the same energy.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure

Ionization rate coefficients in warm dense plasmas

We recast the atomic processes in a warm, dense plasma using Fermi-Dirac statistics and compare them to the rates of the usual Maxwell-Boltzmann approach of many collisional-radiative models. Population calculations show insignificant differences to calculations assuming nondegenerate free electrons of plasmas at solid density close to local thermodynamic equilibrium, but show departures in average ionization in the presence of strong photoionization. For example, we show that electron degeneracy affects the evolution of plasmas created by ultraviolet free electron laser interaction with solid targets
