    The relationship between the dimensions of job burnout with workplace physical environment and facilities among health workers in Golestan province

    Background and Aims: Job burnout is the reaction of workers to chronic stress, with disastrous physical, psychological and adverse organizational consequences for employees. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the dimensions of job burnout and workplace physical environment and facilities among health workers in Golestan province.Materials and Methods: In the present cross-sectional study, 1141 respondents out of totally 1275 health workers in Golestan province participated in the survey. The sampling method was census. Data collection was done through a questionnaire dealing with physical environment and facilities of workplace as well as Maslach burnout inventory. Verbal consent was obtained from all participants and their responses werekept confidentially. Data were analyzed using SPSS and Chi-Square test at a significance level of 0.05Results: The results of the present survey indicate that the physical condition of the workplace was assessed as weak by 17.4% of participants. Similarly, 24.8% of respondents assessed health house facilities asweak. There were significant relationships between emotional exhaustion and physical condition as well as workplace facilities (p<0.005). The study, however, did not show a significant relationship between depersonalization and personal performance and workplace physical conditions and facilities (p>0.005).Conclusion: Regarding the relatively poor workplace physical conditions and facilities, it is recommended to improve these conditions in order to decrease health workers emotional exhaustion.Keywords: Job burnout, Physical environment, Facilities, Health house, Health worker, Golestan provinceFor downloading the full text please click her

    Job Burnout, Job Satisfaction, and Related Factors among Health Care Workers in Golestan Province, Iran

    Introduction: Burnout causes physical and emotional tireness, job dissatisfaction, resulting in reduced efficiency and a feeling of alienation from colleagues. Also, job satisfaction has a major impact on job-related behaviors, such as turnover intention, absenteeism, and job performance. The aim of this study was to determine job burnout, job satisfaction rate, and related factors among health care workers in Golestan Province in Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 1,141 health workers in Golestan Province in northern Iran. Data were collected using a questionnaire that was comprised of four sections. It consisted of socio- economic characteristics, physical environment and facilities of health house (rural health clinic), Maslach burnout inventory, and a satisfaction questionnaire. Multi-nomial Logistic Regression was conducted to analyze the data using SPSS software, version 22. Results: There were significant relationships between the intensity of job burnout and age (p < 0.001), years of experience (p < 0.001), low education level (p = 0.027), number of children (p = 0.002), dissatisfaction with income (p < 0.001), physical environment of health houses (p = 0.003), facilities of health houses (p = 0.025).There were significant relationships between the frequency of job burnout and age (p < 0.001), years of experience (p < 0.001), low education level (p = 0.016), number of children (p = 0.003), dissatisfaction with income (p < 0.001), and the physical environment of health houses (p = 0.008). There were significant relationships between job satisfaction and the satisfaction from income (p = 0.001), the physical environment of health houses (p = 0.001), and the facilities of health houses (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Burnout was average among health workers, and health workers job satisfaction rate was lower than the average level in health workers. Effective interventions are recommended with regards to the unfavorable condition of job satisfaction and its relationship with job burnout

    Background & Objective: Job satisfaction Increases individual efficiency and commitment to the organization, ensuring the physical and mental health, life satisfaction and accelerate the learning of new skills on the job. The aim of this study was to determine the status of health professionals› satisfaction in the Golestan province. Method: In this cross- sectional study, 1,275 health workers of Health centers in the Golestan province in the year 1391 were participated using the census method. Data was collected using Herzberg job satisfaction questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS software, ANOVA and t-Test at the significant level of 0.05. Results: Job satisfaction in terms of staff maintenance and support and given the potential and experience of individuals in granting liability were at dissatisfied level, In terms of corporate communications, career development, salary and benefits, challenges and job management, at relatively dissatisfied and from the aspect of social acceptance level was at relatively satisfied. Job satisfaction was significantly associated with work experience (P=0.049), ethnicity (P=0.009) and city of service location (P=0.001). Conclusion: Due to poor job satisfaction levels, effective actions should be taken to improve organizational communication, career development, salary and benefits, social acceptance, staff maintenance and support, management, Job challenges, and granting responsibilities based on the ability and experience of the individuals
