Open String Tachyon in Supergravity Solution
We study the tachyon condensation of the D-\bar{D}-brane system with a
constant tachyon vev in the context of classical solutions of the Type II
supergravity. We find that the general solution with the symmetry
ISO(1,p)xSO(9-p) (the three-parameter solution) includes the extremal black
p-brane solution as an appropriate limit of the solution with fixing one of the
three parameters (c_1). Furthermore, we compare the long distance behavior of
the solution with the massless modes of the closed strings from the boundary
state of the D-\bar{D}-brane system with a constant tachyon vev. We find that
we must fix c_1 to zero and the only two parameters are needed to express the
tachyon condensation of the D\={D}-brane system. This means that the parameter
does not correspond to the tachyon vev of the D\={D}-brane system.Comment: 20 pages, no figures, LaTeX2e, typos corrected, references added and

Wilson-like real-space renormalization group and low-energy effective spectrum of the XXZ chain in the critical regime
We present a novel real-space renormalization group(RG) for the
one-dimensional XXZ model in the critical regime, reconsidering the role of the
cut-off parameter in Wilson's RG for the Kondo impurity problem. We then
demonstrate the RG calculation for the XXZ chain with the free boundary.
Comparing the hierarchical structure of the obtained low-energy spectrum with
the Bethe ansatz result, we find that the proper scaling dimension is

Enhancement of W+/- H-/+ Production at Hadron Colliders in the Two Higgs Doublet Model
We discuss the associated W+/- H-/+ production at the CERN Large Hadron
Collider. The dependence of the hadronic cross section on the Higgs sector
parameters is investigated in detail in the framework of the general Two Higgs
Doublet Model (THDM). We study the possible enhancement of the THDM prediction
for the cross section compared to the prediction of the Minimal Supersymmetric
Standard Model (MSSM). We find regions in the THDM parameter space where the
THDM prediction can exceed the one of the MSSM by two orders of magnitude.
These regions of large cross section are in agreement with theoretical bounds
on the model, derived from the requirement of vacuum stability and perturbative
unitarity, and are not excluded by experimental constraints.Comment: 19 pages, 5 figure

Baryon Number Fluctuation and the Quark-Gluon Plasma
We show that or , the squared baryon or
antibaryon number fluctuation per baryon or antibaryon, is a possible signature
for the quark-gluon plasma that is expected to be created in relativistic heavy
ion collisions, as it is a factor of three smaller than in an equilibrated
hadronic matter due to the fractional baryon number of quarks. Using kinetic
equations with exact baryon number conservation, we find that their values in
an equilibrated matter are half of those expected from a Poisson distribution.
Effects due to finite acceptance and non-zero net baryon number are also

Boundary susceptibility in the spin-1/2 chain: Curie like behavior without magnetic impurities
We investigate the low-temperature thermodynamics of the spin-1/2 Heisenberg
chain with open ends. On the basis of boundary conformal field theory arguments
and numerical density matrix renormalization group calculations, it is
established that in the isotropic case the impurity susceptibility exhibits a
Curie-like divergent behavior as the temperature decreases, even in the absence
of magnetic impurities. A similar singular temperature dependence is also found
in the boundary contributions of the specific heat coefficient. In the
anisotropic case, for , these boundary quantities still show
singular temperature dependence obeying a power law with an anomalous

Interaction effects between impurities in low dimensional spin-1/2 antiferromagnets
We are considering the interplay between several non-magnetic impurities in
the spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet in chains, ladders and planes by
introducing static vacancies in numerical quantum Monte Carlo simulations. The
effective potential between two and more impurities is accurately determined,
which gives a direct measure of the quantum correlations in the systems. Large
effective interaction potentials are an indication of strong quantum
correlations in the system and reflect the detailed nature of the valence bond
ground states. In two-dimensions (2D) the interactions are smaller, but can

Equation of state of strongly coupled Hamiltonian lattice QCD at finite density
We calculate the equation of state of strongly coupled Hamiltonian lattice
QCD at finite density by constructing a solution to the equation of motion
corresponding to an effective Hamiltonian using Wilson fermions. We find that
up to and beyond the chiral symmetry restoration density the pressure of the
quark Fermi sea can be negative indicating its mechanical instability. This
result is in qualitative agreement with continuum models and should be

Medium Modifications of the Rho Meson at CERN/SPS Energies
Rho meson propagation in hot hadronic matter is studied in a model with
coupling to states. Medium modifications are induced by a change of
the pion dispersion relation through collisions with nucleons and in
the fireball. Maintaining gauge invariance dilepton production is calculated
and compared to the recent data of the CERES collaboration in central S+Au
collisions at 200 GeV/u. The observed enhancement of the rate below the rho

Hadronic Spectral Functions in Lattice QCD
QCD spectral functions of hadrons in the pseudo-scalar and vector channels
are extracted from lattice Monte Carlo data of the imaginary time Green's
functions. The maximum entropy method works well for this purpose, and the
resonance and continuum structures in the spectra are obtained in addition to
