The Use of Continuous System Processor for Reducing Color AndTurbidity Content in the Peat Water

Peat water is naturally brownish colored and it has high turbidity and thus it is not sufficient to support the life of fish, especially Cyprinus carpio. To understand the effectiveness of the continuous system processor to reduce the color and turbidity in the peat water and to understand the ability of C. carpio to live in the treated peat water, a study has been conducted in May 2014. The peat water was obtained from the Tarai River and then was processed using “a continuous processor”. The water was pumped into water tank (120L), added with lime (225 gr), Aluminum Sulphate (225 gr), aerated and filtered with layers of zeolit, charcoal and sand. Sampling was conducted 4 times, once/week. Results shown that after being treated, the color of the water become clear (from around 890 to 7.49 PtCo) and the effectiveness was 99.17%. The turbidity decrease, from 40.0 NTU into 2.61 NTU (effectiveness 93.41%). Survival rate of Cyprinus carpio that were reared in the treated water was 100%. Based on data obtained, it can be concluded that the continuous system is effective to reduce the color and turbidity of the peat water

Default Risk On Islamic Banking In Indonesia

Stability of financial institutions is a crucial issue amid the economic crisis that hit the US and Europe. Islamic banking in Indonesia as financial institutions are also required to have good stability in order to maintain the stability of the national economy. The aim of this research is to determine the stability of Islamic banking in Indonesia, and understand the factors that affect the stability. Stability of Islamic banking will be measured using Merton model to estimate the Probability Default (PD). Panel data regression was used to estimate the factors that affect the stability of Islamic Banking. The object of this research is 10 Islamic banking in Indonesia that meet the specified criteria. From the analysis of the Merton model, the research found that the stability of Islamic banking in Indonesia is not good enough. This can be seen from the value of the probability default on Islamic banking which still above 0.5. However, based on the trend, the probability default of Islamic banking has decreased from year to year. Some of the variables that influence the stability of Islamic banking is asset and BI rate (SBI)

Crossover from Conserving to Lossy Transport in Circular Random Matrix Ensembles

In a quantum dot with three leads the transmission matrix t_{12} between two of these leads is a truncation of a unitary scattering matrix S, which we treat as random. As the number of channels in the third lead is increased, the constraints from the symmetry of S become less stringent and t_{12} becomes closer to a matrix of complex Gaussian random numbers with no constraints. We consider the distribution of the singular values of t_{12}, which is related to a number of physical quantities. Changing the number of channels in the third lead corresponds to increasing the amount of loss in the system (and is distinct from prior uses of a third lead to model dephasing)

This research aims to obtain a description of the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the learningwriting short story through Wayang Beber media for 9th grade students of SMP N 4 Ponorogo, East Java. Thisresearch was carried out for 4 months in the 9th students of SMP N 4 Ponorogo Academic Year 2014/2015.This research uses qualitative research design by using interviewing and observation techniques to collect thedata. The research reveals: (1) the planning of learning writing short story through wayang beber can beaccepted and implemented by the students. The students are happy and comfortable in learning writing shortstory; (2) the implementation of learning writing short story through wayang beber run well, smooth, relaxed;and (3) the evaluation of learning writing short story through wayang beber writing learning of short storiesthrough the medium of combined musical Javanese wayang beber is very effective because wayang beber issomething new and inspiring for students to finish their asigments

One-minute rain rate statistics prediction using Ito-Hosoya model in Malaysia

    Get PDF
This paper investigates one-minute rain rate in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia predicted based on Ito-Hosoya model. The model is categorized into meteorological based model as it receives as input local meteorological parameter. The best part about this model is it does not requires measured rain rate data to be converted into one-minute, instead it depends on long-term meteorological parameter values which widely available from various sources. In this paper, the local meteorological parameters are extracted from TRMM database which are average accumulation rainfall (from TMPA 3B43) and thunderstorm ratio (from TRMM PR 3A25 and TMI 3A12). The result shows that this model could be promising for use in Malaysia region as it produces better performance compared to the ITU-R model

Optimizing Energy Baseline for Medium Size Office Using Hybrid EnergyPlus-Evolutionary Programming (EP)

    Get PDF
This paper presents an optimization approach of developing building energy baseline for medium sized office using Evolutionary Programming (EP) in comparison with direct methods. This paper applies simulation-based approach by coupling Matlab and EnergyPlus to perform energy building simulation and obtain the best energy baseline configuration with minimal error. On the other hand, direct method relies on try-and-error manually key-in methods using OpenStudio EnergyPlus simulation software. The proposed method is applied to a single story Green Energy Research Centre (GERC) office building located in UiTM Shah Alam with characteristic of partially air-conditioned buildings. The office consists of 5 different size rooms with different purposes. In this regard, 3 building parameters are taken as a decision variables including occupancies, lightings and electrical equipment. The EP objective function was set to minimize the difference between simulated and monitored energy consumption. To evaluate accuracy of building energy model, hourly criteria for Normalized Mean Biased Error (NMBE) and Coefficient of Variance Root Mean Squared Error (CV(RMSE)) endorsed by IPMVP were used. It is found that simulation-based approach has lower value of NMBE at 2.775% and CV(RMSE) at 10.949% compared to direct methods where NMBE at 79.964% while CV(RMSE) at 104.848%

Literature Review Filantropi Islam antara Tahun 2008 Hingga 2018

The author is interested in reviewing Islamic philanthropic literature between 2008 and 2018 because Islamic philanthropic behavior is found in any community, from the scope of the poorest countries to even the developed world. In addition, Islamic philanthropy is an object of study that has been widely studied in the social and economic fields. Articles about Islamic philanthropy were obtained using the zakat keyword on Emerald Insight between 2008 and 2018. The search results of 37 articles were then grouped into six topics discussing management, CSR, philanthropy, poverty, charity, religion, distribution, and collection. The findings show that Islamic philanthropy is a topic that is widely discussed by economists and researchers both muslim and non muslim. This is because Islamic philanthropy is the most realistic way to reduce poverty and social inequality today. However, the lack of optimal management of potential Islamic philanthropic funds has hampered the achievement of this goal
