Mulberry (Morus alba L.) is one of the source of a herbal medicine. The leaf has benn reported as could reduces triglycerides level. Quercetin in mulberry leaves inducec triglycerides catabolism to fatty acid and glycerol and induces fatty acid oxidation ro energy. The aim of this srudy is to know effect of product “X” which contained mulberry leaves extract on the triglycerides of male Wistar rats. This study used 25 laboratory male Wistar rats, od 2-3 months age and 150-200 grams in body weight. Twenty five rats were a divided into five groups at randomly: group A as the solvent control group. Group B as negative control group was fed a high-fat diet, group C as the solvent control group was given 0,5% CMC-Na, group D as the positive control was given gemfibrozilm126 mg/kgBW, and group E was given “X” product 630 mg/KgBW. Each group, which orally were fed the treadment for 7 days. The triglycerides level was checked on day 8 used an easy touch. The data of triglycerides level was obtained and analyzed statistically by ANOVA test with a confidence level 95%. The result showed, that the group that given “X” product at a dose of triglycerides level 9,45% (p<0,05) and 24,78% (p<0,05). As conclution the “X” products at a dose of 630 mg/KgBW can decrease triglycerides level in male Wistar rats, but not as big as gemfibrozile effect. Keywords: Mulberry leaves, Triglycerides, gemfibrozil

Government Policies for the Natural Resource Management of Minerals and Coal Based on Social Welfare

    Get PDF
This research aims to describe the natural resources management policies in the mineral and coal sectors. The description is based on the social welfare value contained in Law No. 3 of 2020 concerning Amendment of Law No. 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining, as well as Law No. 11 of 2020 concerning Employment and Labour Law. This research employed a normative judicial method based on law regulations that are conceptualized as principles or norms and have evolved into proper human behavior standards. Secondary data were employed by exploring literature correlated with the mineral and coal mining management law and analyzed using juridical-qualitative techniques. Subsequently, the research indicated that the Indonesian government policy in the Mineral and Coal, alongside Omnibus Laws, are unable to accommodate social welfare values and support only profit-oriented businesspersons. This research is expected to proffer suggestions for the central or regional government to make regulations prior to the social welfare principle

Correlation of the caring behaviour of nurses with the motivation of patients undergoing haemodialysis

Background/Aim: There is a need to establish a satisfactory level of performance for nurses working in haemodialysis units, which will provide qualified competent nurses who will take care of patients. Thus, the purpose of this study was to analyze the caring behaviour of haemodialysis nurses with the motivation of patients undergoing haemodialysis. Methods: The research design was a descriptive correlation approach. The subjects of this study were patients who were undergoing therapy in the haemodialysis room. Researchers collected data for 1 month in September 2023. The relationship between nurses' caring behaviour and haemodialysis patient motivation was determined by conducting a Spearman rank correlation analysis. Results: Out of 118 patients, 48.7 % of patients thought nurses had poor caring behaviour. The research results also showed that patient motivation in undergoing haemodialysis was in the low motivation category (47.8 %). There was a significant relationship between nurses' caring behaviour and patient motivation in undergoing haemodialysis therapy (p = 0.0001). Based on the correlation coefficient value (r = 0.632), the two variables had a strong relationship. Conclusion: Nurses' caring behaviour can increase patient motivation in undergoing haemodialysis therapy. Nurses' caring behaviour still needs to be optimised because the interaction between nurses and patients in the treatment process provides support to patients

Technological innovation in local food products is absolutely necessary, by creating the added value in such a way as local products so that the products produced have more or at least the same value as local products. The result of the creation of local products, Copasme able to meet the growing demands of global consumers, namely in addition to demanding aspects of pleasure, the enjoyment of local products, consumers still want aspects of health and safety. Copasme is one of the alternative drink sachets developed in Palangkaraya City. From the analysis of copasme sachet business during one period (per month) it is known that (1) production cost is IDR. 6,472,000.00 (2) revenue of IDR. 21,600,000.00, (3) Net income / profit of IDR. 15,128,000.00 (4) Efficiency of 3.3. This shows that the sachet copas business is efficient or feasible

Aluminum toxicity is a major constraint to soybean production in acid soils. Since variabilities on Al tolerance in plants are very limited, mutation breeding, and in vitro selection were used to increase the variability. Three soyben genotypes were produced from cultivars Wilis and Sindoro that have been gamma irradiated and selected in vitro for their tolerance to Al on Al and low pH media. These genotypes and their original cultivars were then planted in a greenhouse in an acid soil on May 2001. The results showed that the plant performances were varied, some were shorter and more compact than the original. Based on the yield components, a number of plants from the genotypes showed higher than those of the control cultivars. These plants were considered more tolerant to Al than the original cultivars

Synthesis of Hydroxyapatite-Polyethylene Glycol with <i>In-Situ</i> Method Using Calcium Oxide from Blood Shells (<i>Anadara granosa</i>)

Hydroxyapatite (Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2, HAp) is a calcium phosphate-based biomaterial that is widely used in bone implants due to its similarity in composition with the constituent elements of bone. However, HAp still has poor mechanical properties, so research was carried out to improve the mechanical properties such as reduced brittleness, less fracture resistance, and a denser structure of HAp by synthesizing composites with PEG. This study used PEG as a filler and HAp as a matrix. HAp was synthesized from blood clam shells (Anadara granosa) using the sol-gel method. HAp-PEG composite was synthesized using the in-situ method with various HAp concentrations of 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80%. FTIR characterization showed the presence of functional groups PO43− and CO23−, which indicated the presence of HAp. Analysis of the XRD pattern showed a crystal size of 24.194 nm. SEM-EDX showed the needle-shaped HAp-PEG composite HAp crystal morphology and obtained a Ca/P ratio of 1.87. Analysis of DTA results showed a weight loss of 65.72% in the composite at a temperature > 200 °C. A degradation test was also carried out to see the percentage of the HAp-PEG composite to be degraded, and the optimum degraded composite with increasing days had a concentration of 70%

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; This study investigates the characteristics of TiO2/ZnO nanoparticles and the application of TiO2/ZnO in matt-type water-based paint as a pigment. This study aims to determine the quality of TiO2-ZnO pigments in water-based paints in terms of whiteness, hiding power, dispersibility, and gloss. Matt-type water-based paint has been made by mixing water and additives substances in a high-speed mixer to result in a mill base paste, which is mixed with the pigment of TiO2/ZnO (25:75), CaCO3 filler, water, and additives, then filtered and mixed again with the C-817 binder. The characterization results showed that TiO2/ZnO nanoparticles contained TiO2 of 18.62% and ZnO of 77.49%, with an average particle diameter of 151.54 nm. TiO2/ZnO has a crystal size of 28.4 nm and a crystallinity degree of 72.3%. The application of TiO2/ZnO nanoparticles as a pigment in matt-type water-based paint resulted in good dispersion and hiding power and achieved whiteness of 82.2 and gloss at 60° of 2.00 better than TiO2 of 81.8 and gloss at 60° of 1.77
