    Neonatal diabetes mellitus due to a rare mutation in KCNJ11 gene

    Neonatal diabetes is a heterogeneous group of rare monogenic disorders with an incidence of about 1 in 100,000 live births presenting with in the first 6 months of life with polyuria, dehydration, and ketoacidosis. We, hereby, present a case of neonatal diabetes mellitus due to a very rare mutation (reported 1st time from Indian population) affecting the KCNJ11 gene encoding for KIR6.2 subunit of KATP channels resulting in inhibition of insulin release and hyperglycemia, leading to permanent neonatal diabetes for which sulfonylurea is the preferred treatment. Instead of insulin injection as endogenous insulin synthesis is not affected unlike other causes of permanent neonatal diabetes mellitus affecting insulin synthesis for which insulin is the only treatment

    Objective: To establish an acceptable identification system of various purification effects in context classical based different media on turmeric samples and relates its altering pattern in favor of phyto-pharmacognostical, image processing and multivariate chemometric analysis.Methods: Authenticated turmeric samples purified through different processes by using different media such as cow's urine, panchapllava (five different plants tender leaves), the inflorescence of alambusha (Sphaeranthus indicus, Linn) decoction, water and buttermilk. Resultant samples dried, pulverized and undertaken powder microscopy, image processing, physicochemical and chromatographic fingerprinting (HPTLC). The multivariate chemometric analysis, principal component analysis (PCA) analyzed with help of Unscrambler and image processing in Matlab software.Results: The addition of characters of medias drug with turmeric powders like the crystal of gomutra, pollen grain and starch grain of Alambusha, epidermis, fibre, the crystal of panchapllava. Identify different perceivable colors in variously processed turmeric by analyzing the Lab color space through the Image segmentation. PC1 and PC2 explained (90 + 9) % total variance in score plot of respective purify turmeric samples shown clear grouping in relation to the physicochemical constant. Quantification of curcumin in various treated turmeric samples displayed variation due to additive effect in high-performance thin layer chromatographic profile.Conclusion: This study proved that purification in ayurveda not only refers to the elimination of toxins and unwanted particles but also the transformation in the properties in the primary substance rendering it safe as well as many desired qualities are imbibed in it

    Synthetic polymers have shown a great impact on every aspect of our life and attained an exponential rise in their production and utilization in the past decades due to their durability, flexibility, moldability, and inexpensive nature. However, the use of natural polymers or development of safe and environment-friendly synthetic bio-based polymers is continuously undergoing for a sustainable future owing to the exhaustion of petroleum-based resources or fossil-based materials, disposal and economical concerns, including government guidelines. In this regard, the development of new sustainable polymers or materials will step up and build a genuinely circular economy by decreasing manufacture or utilization of fossil-based materials as limited reserves

    Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis: A retrospective Study at a tertiary care hospital in Palpa, Nepal

    Background: Extra-pulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) is a significant global health problem. Related studies to it in different places and diff erent durations are indicated by many previous research findings. Findings of this study could be beneficial for its preventive and control strategies. Methodology: Retrospective analysis of clinical specimens submitted to Central laboratory of Lumbini Medical College and Teaching Hospital (LMCTH) for extrapulmonary tuberculosis was performed. Total 261 samples submitted from April 2011 to February 2013 were included for analysis in this study. Results: Total 20.7% (54/261) prevalence of EPTB was reported. Based on sites involved; lymph node 87.03%, pleural effusion7.40%, peritoneal5.55% were found. Genderwise equal prevalence was seen among male and females. Age-wise prevalence among patients between 21-40 years was reported. Conclusion: Our finding indicates great necessity for further large scale study on prevalence of EPTB in this location for its prevention and control

    Bio-based sustainable polymers and materials: from processing to biodegradation.

    In the life cycle of a material, there will be either chemical or physical change due to varying environmental factors such as biological activity, light, heat, moisture, and chemical conditions. This process leads to polymer property change as pertains to functional deterioration because of the physical, biological, and chemical reactions that result in chemical transformations and bond scission and thus can be regarded as polymer degradation. Due to the present demand for sustainable polymers, bio-based polymers have been identified as a solution. There is therefore a need to compare the sustainability impacts of bio-based polymers, to maximize their use in functional use stage and still withhold the bio-degradation capability. This study focuses are poly (lactic acid) (PLA), Poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), and polyamides (PA) as biopolymers of interest due to their potential in technological applications, stability, and biodegradability. For preparing bio-based value-added products, an appropriate selection of the fabrication or functional modification process is a very important factor for particular industrial or biomedical applications. The literature review indicates that in vivo is preferred to in vitro because it suits an overall study of the experiment's effects on a living subject. This study will explore these features in detail. In particular, the review will cover processing and biodegradation pathways for each of the biopolymers. In addition, thermal degredation and photodegradation are covered, and future trends and conclusions are drawn

    Observational constraint from the heaviest pulsar PSR J0952-0607 on the equation of state of dense matter in relativistic mean field model

    In the present work, we constrain the equation of the state of dense matter in the context of heaviest observed neutron star mass Mmax_{max} = 2.35±0.17\pm 0.17 M_{\odot} for the black widow pulsar PSR J0952-0607. We propose three interactions HPU1, HPU2 and HPU3 (named after Himachal Pradesh University)for the relativistic mean field model which include different combinations of non-linear, self and cross-couplings among isoscalar-scalar σ\sigma, isoscalar-vector ω\omega and isovector-vector ρ\rho meson fields up to the quartic order. These interactions are in harmony with the finite nuclei and bulk nuclear matter properties. The equations of state computed by using newly generated interactions for the β\beta-equilibrated nucleonic matter satisfy the heaviest observed neutron star mass Mmax_{max} = 2.35±0.17\pm 0.17 M_{\odot} for the black widow pulsar PSR J0952-0607. The results for the radius (R1.4R_{1.4}) and dimensionless tidal deformability (Λ1.4{\Lambda_{1.4}}) corresponding to the canonical mass are also presented and agree well with the GW170817 event and astrophysical observations. The radius of 2.08M2.08M_{\odot} neutron star mass is predicted to be in the range R2.08R_{2.08} = 12.98 -13.09 Km which also satisfies the NICER observations by Miller et al. (2021) and Riley et al.(2021).
