Of the 15th meeting, Chicago 1893, only the proceedings were printed, with references to pages in the Library journal where abstracts of the papers may be found. The papers themselves were published in full in the Report of the Commissioner of Education for 1892-93, pt. 2, chapter 9; also separately, under title: Papers prepared for the World's Library Congress, held at the Columbian Exposition, Washington, 1896.1892, by omitting no. 13 entirely.Conferences were not held in 1878, 1880, 1884, 1943-45 and 1949. The conference for 1949 was replaced by 7 regional conferences; composite proceedings were not published. In 1888 an unofficial conference in the Catskills took the place of the postponed St. Louis conference. In the numbering of the proceedings the Catskills conference of 1888 was not recognized until 1892, the conferences of 1889-91 being numbered 10, 11 and 12 respectively.
