Predicting Mental Health Crisis in Veterans: Early Warning Signs, Precursors and Protective Factors
Mental Health (MH) conditions have recently increased to a large extent due to socio-demographic changes. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is one of the most common mental health disorders prevalent in US. PTSD is even more troubling at double the rate in combat veterans leaving their service compared to general population. Severity of PTSD is associated with risk taking behaviors such as substance abuse, non-suicidal self-injury, and sexual risk behaviors. Psychological disorders are often preceded by early warning signs and recognizing the early warning signs of PTSD will help in preventing the returning or worsening of PTSD symptoms. Ecological momentary assessment (EMA) studies are more sophisticated in tracking fluctuations of symptoms real-time, and they are effective in monitoring for crisis events in veterans. Mobile applications are commonly used means to gather such EMA information from participants. Our research focuses on developing interpretable machine learning (ML) models using socio-demographic data and EMA data from natural settings to predict high PTSD risk in veterans and those who engage in risky behaviors. Findings from these models can be integrated with existing m-health frameworks to generate text alerts to the mentors when the crisis patterns are observed in their mentees. Such an integrated crisis prediction and alerting system would add benefit to peer mentors to plan intervention
Usability Engineering of a Privacy-Aware Compliance Tracking System
Software is useful when it is able to provide useful information to the end user with minimum effort. This thesis is about usability improvements to a privacy-aware human motion tracking system for healthcare professionals. The original system has a number of usability issues: (1) Users need to wear a smartwatch, which will be used to connect to the system; (2) Data are stored in XML, comma-separated-value format which is very difficult to analyze; (3) Data are available only at the local computer and there is no easy way to access them remotely via a Web or mobile interface; (4) Analysis and comparison of different user’s performance is very difficult. In this thesis, we mainly concentrated on solving the above-mentioned usability problems. We introduced a new way of authenticating users for motion tracking using Bluetooth beacons, thereby eliminating the requirement of wearing a smartwatch. We built a Web application which will accept data from Kinect and stores data in the database. This Web application will present the logged data to users via a variety of charts and it can be accessed from anywhere by using a web browser. Along with this, to provide easy access to data, we also provide a mobile application to present users with data analysis and comparison features. Both the Web and the mobile applications are designed to make sure that user privacy is maintained, and proper access controls are imposed on who can see what data
Bayesian Approach for Detection Classification
The objective of this paper is to develop and test a software system that uses
incomplete information from a collection of sensors to classify different objects present in
a particular area with a pre-specified probability. The objects in the study are referred to as
vehicles called the Bus and the Truck. Intruding vehicles move across a designated
geographical area. Sensors that have been placed in that area detect vehicles and calculate
probabilities that a vehicle is of a specific type conditioned on the type of vehicle that is
actually detected. The goal is to determine unconditional probabilities that a given
detection is of a particular type. The main idea is to find which vehicle is located at a
geographical point in a designated area using the Bayesian approach to calculate the
probabilities for this detection classification problem. Each sensor tries to detect the vehicle
based on its sensing radius, which is nothing but the distance between the sensor and the
vehicle. To test the methodology, I assumed that the probabilities vary depending on the
color of the vehicles. For example, if a vehicle is red in color, it is assumed to be easier for
the sensors to classify than if it is blue. The framework uses Bayesian inference to calculate
the probabilities and to distinguish two types of moving vehicles. Experiments are
conducted to find the number of sensors that successfully distinguish two types of moving
objects with a given probability threshold. In the future the Detection Classification Model
can be used to distinguish any number of objects with the mobile sensors and also some
obstacles included in a designated geographical area
PROVIDING THE BOUNDARY LINE CONTROLLED REQUEST WITH ADAPTABLE TRANSMISSION RATES IN WDM MESH NETWORKS
The mixture of applications increases and supported over optical networks, to the network customers new service guarantees must be offered .The partitioning the data into multiple segments which can be processed independently the useful data to be transferred before a predefined deadline .this is a deadline driven request. To provide the request the customer chooses the bandwidth DDRs provide scheduling flexibility for the service providers. It chooses bandwidth while achieving two objectives 1.satisfying the guaranteed deadline 2.decreasing network resource utilization .by using bandwidth allocation policies improve the network performance and by using mixed integer linear program allows choosing flexible transmission rates
Continuous Flow Preparation of Benzylic Sodium Organometallics
We report a lateral sodiation of alkyl(hetero)arenes using on-demand generated hexane-soluble (2-ethylhexyl)sodium (1) in the presence of TMEDA. (2-Ethylhexyl)sodium (1) is prepared via a sodium packed-bed reactor and used for metalations at ambient temperature in batch as well as in continuous flow. The resulting benzylic sodium species are subsequently trapped with various electrophiles including carbonyl compounds, epoxides, oxetane, allyl/benzyl chlorides, alkyl halides and alkyl tosylates. Wurtz-type couplings with secondary alkyl halides and tosylates proceed under complete inversion of stereochemistry. Furthermore, the utility of this lateral sodiation is demonstrated in the synthesis of pharmaceutical relevant compounds. Thus, fingolimod is prepared from p-xylene applying the lateral sodiation twice. In addition, 7-fold isotopically labeled salmeterol-d(7) and fenpiprane as well as precursors to super linear alkylbenzene (SLAB) surfactants are prepared
MINIMUM SIZE OF MULTI-STRUCTURES IN TERMS LATERAL LOADS
In our scenario of construction industry, the structures which are being built are gaining significance, generally, individuals with most effective outcomes with regards to optimal sizing and reinforcing from the structural elements, mainly beam and column people in multi-bay and multi-floor RC structures. Optimal sizing incorporates optimal stiffness correlation among structural people to cause financial savings within the typical condition-of-the practice design solutions. “Optimization” means making things the very best. The race towards new heights and architecture is not without challenges. Once the building increases tall, the stiffness from the structure gets to be more important. Tall structures have ongoing to climb greater and greater facing strange loading effects and incredibly high loading values because of dominating lateral loads. The look criteria for tall structures are strength, serviceability, stability and human comfort. Thus the results of lateral loads like wind loads, earthquake forces are attaining growing importance and nearly every designer is confronted with the issue of supplying sufficient strength and stability against lateral loads. Lateral strain on tall structures is most important someone to consider for that design. To be able to take notice of the seismic effect and wind impact on tall building, research on G 20 storey’s are taken for four different installments of structural system. The structural response because of lateral loads with load combinations is extracted. Aftereffect of lateral strain on moments, axial forces, shear pressure, base shear, maximum floor drift and tensile forces on structural system are studied The current work was transported on G 20 floor commercial building with and with no provision of shear walls for an additional structural systems: Only frame. Frame with shear walls. Frame with shear walls and shear core. Frame with simply shear core
