    Logic Locking based Trojans: A Friend Turns Foe

    Logic locking and hardware Trojans are two fields in hardware security that have been mostly developed independently from each other. In this paper, we identify the relationship between these two fields. We find that a common structure that exists in many logic locking techniques has desirable properties of hardware Trojans (HWT). We then construct a novel type of HWT, called Trojans based on Logic Locking (TroLL), in a way that can evade state-of-the-art ATPG-based HWT detection techniques. In an effort to detect TroLL, we propose customization of existing state-of-the-art ATPG-based HWT detection approaches as well as adapting the SAT-based attacks on logic locking to HWT detection. In our experiments, we use random sampling as reference. It is shown that the customized ATPG-based approaches are the best performing but only offer limited improvement over random sampling. Moreover, their efficacy also diminishes as TroLL's triggers become longer, i.e., have more bits specified).     An Interesting Case of Life-Threatening Hypercalcemia Secondary to Atypical Parathyroid Adenoma versus Parathyroid Carcinoma

    Context. Severe hypercalcemia is a life-threatening condition. Atypical parathyroid adenoma and parathyroid carcinomas are uncommon causes which can be difficult to differentiate. Objective. We report a case of a 36-year-old male with very high serum calcium due to a possible atypical parathyroid adenoma versus parathyroid carcinoma. Case Illustration. A serum calcium level of 23.2 mg/dl was noted on admission. He was initially treated with IV hydration, pamidronate, and salmon calcitonin to lower his calcium levels. He also underwent a surgical en bloc resection of parathyroid mass. Pathology showed a mixed picture consistent with possible atypical adenoma versus parathyroid carcinoma. However, due to the possible involvement of the recurrent laryngeal nerve, parathyroid carcinoma was more likely. Also after operation the patient developed hungry bones syndrome and his calcium was replaced vigorously. He continues to be on calcium, vitamin D, and calcitriol supplementation. Results. A review of the literature was conducted to identify previous studies pertaining to parathyroid adenomas and parathyroid cancer. Conclusion. We thereby conclude that hypercalcemia requires very careful monitoring especially after operation. Also it can be very difficult to distinguish between atypical parathyroid adenomas and parathyroid carcinomas as in our case and no clear cut guidelines yet exist to differentiate the two based on histology

TAR are environment friendly, do not use any kind of refrigerants, and as the compressor and expander are not used, hence, its life is more than a conventional VCR. The objective is to obtain a substantial temperature gradient using a Thermoacoustic Refrigerator. The methodology is to choose the suitable material and design the prototype. A large part of this project is devoted to explore the different designs for thermo acoustic refrigerators, and select the optimum one for maximum utility.     Role of Rhizobacteria Associated with Diseased Tomato Plants towards their Response with Ralstonia sp The Bacterial Wilt Agent

    In this study, we have aimed to determine the antagonistic effects of various rhizobacteria against representatives of bacterial wilt disease; Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum with a comparison from control sterile distilled water (SDW) aliquots. During in-vitro study, bacterial wilt agent was clearly inhibited in their growth by significant percentage by 32 different strains through perforated agar plate method. Results showed 10 potential strains among those 32 strains viz. DIB76/BCS-8, DIB76/BCS-9, DIB76/BCS-10, DIB76/BCS-12, DIB76/BCS-19, DIB76/BCS-20, DIB76/BCS-21, DIB76/BCS-24, DIB76/BCS-26 and DIB76/BCS-27 had the highest growth suppression for 9 different strains of R. pseudosolanacearum as compared to other bacterial strains. Trials with tomato crop at polyhouse had no incidence of bacterial wilt than those for control. Study, thus identifies 10 rhizobacterial strains from rhizosphere soil of diseased tomato plant possessing potential antagonistic activity against the wilt pathogen and has prospects as good biocontrol agents

    Bacteriological profile of acute bacterial meningitis at a tertiary care hospital of North India

    Background: Acute bacterial meningitis (ABM) is one of the most severe and potentially life-threatening infectious diseases. It is defined as an inflammation of the meanings, globally distributed as either sporadic or epidemic forms. ABM remains a major cause of mortality and long-term neurological sequel worldwide. Objective of the present study was undertaken to evaluate the bacteriological analysis in term of pathogens frequency and their sensitivity pattern in the cerebrospinal fluid of acute meningitis patients at a tertiary care hospital in eastern Uttar Pradesh, India.Methods: The study was carried out at a tertiary care hospital from June 2014 to November 2015 irrespective of age group. A total of 3803 samples of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from clinically suspected cases of meningitis were subjected for bacteriological analysis.Results: During the study period, a total of 3803 CSF samples were studied. Out of these, 343 were confirmed as bacterial meningitis based on Gram staining and or culture showing 9.01% incidence. ABM was more common in paediatric patients than adults. The most common organisms were Gram positive (66.18%) bacteria.Conclusions: Acute bacterial meningitis is a medical emergency and making an early diagnosis and providing early and accurate treatment, are lifesaving and to reduce morbidity. This study may play an important role in the diagnosis and more accurate treatment for the ABM patients

    Spectrum of malignant mediastinal masses at a tertiary care centre in Central India

    Background: Malignant mediastinal masses can develop from structures that are normally located or pass through the mediastinum during development, as well as from metastases of malignancies that arise elsewhere in the body. Since many tumors that occur in the mediastinum are undifferentiated and have overlapping histologic features, one must consider a broad differential diagnosis and perform a thorough evaluation. This is particularly important since appropriate therapy for various mediastinal tumors differs considerably and may significantly impact survival.Methods: Ours was a retrospective descriptive study of 48 patients who presented or referred to medical oncology department from January 2014 to December 2017 and in whom malignant cause of mediastenal mass was established. All details of the patients pertinent epidemiology, clinical history and pathological including immunohistochemistry details were studied.Results: Out of 48 patients,14 cases (29.2%) were in adolescent and young adult age group (15-29 years). Majority of the patients were symptomatic (91.6%) with most common being cough (87.5%) followed by chest pain (81.5%) and dyspnoea (79.1%). Four of the patients presented with superior vena-caval syndrome. Most of the tumors (64.6%) are in anterior mediastenum region. Histopathological examination revealed non-hodgkins lymphoma in 31.25%, Hodgkins lymphoma in 18.75%, leukaemia in 6.25%, germ cell tumor in 8.33%, thymic neoplasms in 4.16%, neurogenic tumors in 4.16%, lung carcinoma in 10.4% and metastatic carcinoma in 10.4%.Conclusions: Malignant mediastinal masses have a broad range of diagnosis, establishing of which is important. While imaging help in narrowing the differential diagnosis, adequate pathological categorization should be done as many patients responds to specific line of therapy

    EFFICACY OF A COATING COMPOSED OF CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE AND WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE TO CONTROL THE QUALITY OF JAGGERY

    This study evaluated the efficacy of coating composed of Carboxymethyl Cellulose and Whey Protein Concentrate on the storage characteristics and storage quality conditions of coated jaggery for 15 weeks. The edible coating was based on five different levels of Carboxymethyl cellulose (0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%and 2.5%) and Whey protein concentrate (2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%).The results indicate that the storage of jaggery were modified and improved by coating. The statistical data revealed that different treatment of jaggery samples significantly affected the pH, reducing sugar, total microbial count and optical density. The reducing sugar, optical density, total viable count and mould count increased significantly as the storage period increased. However, moisture content and pH followed decreasing pattern during the storage. The result of the study concluded that coating of jaggery sample could help in retaining the desirable moisture upto some extent. Also it can be concluded that problem related to keeping quality of jaggery could be overcome by applying edible coating based on carboxymethyl cellulose and whey protein concentrate
