    Relationships among Agropyron, Dasypyrum and Lophopyrum (Triticeae: Poaceae) viewed from isoenzyme variation of esterase, peroxidase and acid phosphatase

    Isoenzyme variation of esterase, peroxidase and acid phosphatase was examined in individual plants from natural populations of A. cristatum, D. villosum and L. elongatum. Four indices of phenotypic similarity (SI, S, D, Ih) were calculated in an attempt to assess relationships among the taxa studied. All indices have their lowest estimates in the comparison between L. elongatum and D. villosum. This is an indication that both species are most distantly related as judged by the enzymes surveyed. Although slightly higher, the values of SI, S and Ih show that D. villosum and A. cristatum are also positioned remotely. Dasypyrum. villosum possessed the highest number of diagnostic isoforms, which is an additional indicator of its distinctness within the studied group. The species A. cristatum and L. elongatum demonstrate a higher level of affinity as estimated by all indices used. The proposed relationships among Agropyron, Dasypyrum and Lophopyrum are compared with conclusions derived from morphological and molecular data available

    Comparison approaches for identification of all-data cloud-based evolving systems

    In this paper we deal with identification of nonlinear systems which are modelled by fuzzy rule-based models that do not assume fixed partitioning of the space of antecedent variables. We first present an alternative way of describing local density in the cloud-based evolving systems. The Mahalanobis distance among the data samples is used which leads to the density that is more suitable when the data are scattered around the input-output surface. All the algorithms for the identification of the cloud parameters are given in a recursive form which is necessary for the implementation of an evolving system. It is also shown that a simple linearised model can be obtained without identification of the consequent parameters. All the proposed algorithms are illustrated on a simple simulation model of a static system

    Indirect Exchange Interactions in Orthorhombic Lanthanide Aluminates

    Magnetic exchange interactions in orthorhombic lanthanide monoaluminates LnAlO3, Ln = SmYb have been determined semiempirically within the Anderson model of exchange in insulators. The constants of magnetic exchange have been evaluated assuming indirect exchange between pairs of nearest Ln 3+ Ln 3+ ions via 4f n → 4f n−1 5d excitation and ionic polarization. The transfer integrals have been approximated by two-centre overlap integrals between four-term analytical 4f n radial wave functions of Ln 3+ ions. The results have been compared with the available experimental Néel temperatures in the same compounds. It has been found that in most cases the indirect exchange interactions present substantial contributions to the energy of the antiferromagnetically ordered state in LnAlO3

    Differences in the transduction of canonical wnt signals demarcate effector and memory CD8 T cells with distinct recall proliferation capacity.

    Protection against reinfection is mediated by Ag-specific memory CD8 T cells, which display stem cell-like function. Because canonical Wnt (Wingless/Int1) signals critically regulate renewal versus differentiation of adult stem cells, we evaluated Wnt signal transduction in CD8 T cells during an immune response to acute infection with lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus. Whereas naive CD8 T cells efficiently transduced Wnt signals, at the peak of the primary response to infection only a fraction of effector T cells retained signal transduction and the majority displayed strongly reduced Wnt activity. Reduced Wnt signaling was in part due to the downregulation of Tcf-1, one of the nuclear effectors of the pathway, and coincided with progress toward terminal differentiation. However, the correlation between low and high Wnt levels with short-lived and memory precursor effector cells, respectively, was incomplete. Adoptive transfer studies showed that low and high Wnt signaling did not influence cell survival but that Wnt high effectors yielded memory cells with enhanced proliferative potential and stronger protective capacity. Likewise, following adoptive transfer and rechallenge, memory cells with high Wnt levels displayed increased recall expansion, compared with memory cells with low Wnt signaling, which were preferentially effector-like memory cells, including tissue-resident memory cells. Thus, canonical Wnt signaling identifies CD8 T cells with enhanced proliferative potential in part independent of commonly used cell surface markers to discriminate effector and memory T cell subpopulations. Interventions that maintain Wnt signaling may thus improve the formation of functional CD8 T cell memory during vaccination

    Accurate large-signal equivalent circuit of surface channel diamond FETs based on the Chalmers model

    The paper presents a large-signal nonlinear circuit-oriented model for polycrystalline and single-crystal H-terminated diamond MESFETs implemented within the Agilent ADS design suite. The DC characteristics of such devices suggest that the channel free charge control law may be modeled using the same strategy adopted for III-V HEMTs. For this reason, the well-known nonlinear Chalmers (Angelov) circuit model was chosen as the starting point for the development of the present non-linear diamond MESFET model. Model fitting was performed against DC and multibias small signal measurements, with good agreement.     On November 3-4 2021, an interplanetary coronal mass injection (ICME) hits the magnetosphere, sparking a strong G3-class geomagnetic storm and auroras as far south as California and New Mexico. All detectors of the SEVAN network registered a Forbush decrease (FD) of 5-10 percentdeep in 1 minute time series of count rates. We present the results of a comparison of Fd registered on mountain altitudes on Aragats (Armenia), Lomnicky Stit (Slovakia), Musala (Bulgaria), and at sea level DESY (Hamburg, Germany), and in Mileshovka, Czechia. We present as well purity and barometric coefficients of different coincidences of SEVAN detector layers on Aragats. We demonstrate disturbances of the near-surface electric (NSEF) and geomagnetic fields at the arrival of the ICME on Earth
