Dynamic Characteristics of a DC Motor Controlled by Single-Phase Half-Wave Thyristor Rectifier Circuit (II)

    Get PDF
When the armature voltage of a dc motor is being controlled by a singlephase half-wave thyristor rectifier circuit, the armature current flows discontinuously, but the motor speed scarcely fluctuates during one cycle of an ac supply frequency. Hence, the authors analyse the static and dynamic characteristics of the dc motor for the case where it is assumed that the fluctuation of the motor speed is negligible. In the analysis, they consider the effects of the motor brush and thyristor internal voltage drops on the characteristics, which can't be neglected when the motor is driven with a low voltage supply. Next, they compare the theoretical results with the experimental ones ; and then investigate the effects of circuit parameters on the characteristics of the motor. Finally, they make a study of the dissipated power, efficiency and frequency response in the circuit, which have not been investigated in the usual papers

When the armature voltage of a dc motor is being controlled by a thyristor rectifier circuit, the armature current sometimes flows discontinuously. In this paper, the authors analyse the dynamic characteristics of a separately excited dc motor controlled by the single-phase half-wave thyristor rectifier circuit and investigate the influence of the discontinuous current on the motor performances. Considering the small fluctuation of the motor speed during one cycle of the ac source frequency and the friction torque of the motor, they develop a theoretical analysis of the motor performance and from the result they deduce a graphical method, by which the performance can be easily analysed. Then they compare the theoretical results with experimental ones and investigate quantitatively the effects of the circuit parameters on the dynamic performance of the motor

A method of implementing Hartree-Fock calculations with zero- and finite-range interactions

    Get PDF
We develop a new method of implementing the Hartree-Fock calculations. A class of Gaussian bases is assumed, which includes the Kamimura-Gauss basis-set as well as the set equivalent to the harmonic-oscillator basis-set. By using the Fourier transformation to calculate the interaction matrix elements, we can treat various interactions in a unified manner, including finite-range ones. The present method is numerically applied to the spherically-symmetric Hartree-Fock calculations for the oxygen isotopes with the Skyrme and the Gogny interactions, by adopting the harmonic-oscillator, the Kamimura-Gauss and a hybrid basis-sets. The characters of the basis-sets are discussed. Adaptable to slowly decreasing density distribution, the Kamimura-Gauss set is suitable to describe unstable nuclei. A hybrid basis-set of the harmonic-oscillator and the Kamimura-Gauss ones is useful to accelerate the convergence, both for stable and unstable nuclei.Comment: LaTex 32 pages with 6 Postscript figure

    Soft-core hyperon-nucleon potentials

A new Nijmegen soft-core OBE potential model is presented for the low-energy YN interactions. Besides the results for the fit to the scattering data, which largely defines the model, we also present some applications to hypernuclear systems using the G-matrix method. An important innovation with respect to the original soft-core potential is the assignment of the cut-off masses for the baryon-baryon-meson (BBM) vertices in accordance with broken SU(3)F_F, which serves to connect the NN and the YN channels. As a novel feature, we allow for medium strong breaking of the coupling constants, using the 3P0^3P_0 model with a Gell-Mann--Okubo hypercharge breaking for the BBM coupling. We present six hyperon-nucleon potentials which describe the available YN cross section data equally well, but which exhibit some differences on a more detailed level. The differences are constructed such that the models encompass a range of scattering lengths in the ΣN\Sigma N and ΛN\Lambda N channels. For the scalar-meson mixing angle we obtained values θS=37\theta_S=37 to 40 degrees, which points to almost ideal mixing angles for the scalar qqˉq\bar{q} states. The G-matrix results indicate that the remarkably different spin-spin terms of the six potentials appear specifically in the energy spectra of Λ\Lambda hypernuclei.Comment: 37 pages, 4 figure
