Epidermoid Causing Ischemic Stroke in the Brainstem
Intracranial tumors may rarely cause stroke. We report an epidermoid cyst causing stroke in a pediatric patient. We have also reviewed the literature and pathogenesis of stroke caused by intracranial tumors
Migrated Disc at Cervicothoracic Junction Presenting as Acute Paraplegia
Herein, we report on an inferior migration of an intervertebral disc C6-7 to the cervicothoracic junction manifesting as acute paraplegia. The patient showed a remarkable recovery after the surgery. The diagnostic dilemma and management difficulties of such an entity are briefly discussed
Cervical intradural disc herniation and cerebrospinal fluid leak
Cervical intradural disc herniation (IDH) is a rare condition and only
25 cases of cervical have been reported. We report a 45-year-old male
who presented with sudden onset right lower limb weakness after lifting
heavy weight. Magnetic resonance imaging of the cervical spine showed
C5/6 disc prolapse with intradural extension. The patient underwent
C5/6 discectomy through anterior cervical approach. Postoperatively,
the patient improved in stiffness but developed cerebrospinal fluid
leak and the leak resolved with multiple lumbar punctures
Isolated Enteric Cyst in the Neck
We report an extremely rare case of isolated enteric cyst in the neck region which was diagnosed on the histopathological examination. It was suspected to be duplication cyst on radiology. We have also evaluated the differential diagnosis and management issues
Meningioma and cavernous angioma following childhood radiotherapy
Prophylactic cranial irradiation has been a part of multimodality
management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). With optimum
treatment and the resultant long-term cure rates, long-term side
effects of radiation including radiation-induced neoplasms have been
increasingly unearthed. We report a rare case of development of both a
meningioma and a cavernous angioma following prophylactic cranial
irradiation as a part of treatment of ALL. Regular follow-up and high
index of suspicion for late radiation sequelae after treatment are
therefore justifiable in leukemia survivors with history of
prophylactic cranial irradiation
