Fundamental Limits of Coded Caching: Improved Delivery Rate-Cache Capacity Trade-off

A centralized coded caching system, consisting of a server delivering N popular files, each of size F bits, to K users through an error-free shared link, is considered. It is assumed that each user is equipped with a local cache memory with capacity MF bits, and contents can be proactively cached into these caches over a low traffic period; however, without the knowledge of the user demands. During the peak traffic period each user requests a single file from the server. The goal is to minimize the number of bits delivered by the server over the shared link, known as the delivery rate, over all user demand combinations. A novel coded caching scheme for the cache capacity of M= (N-1)/K is proposed. It is shown that the proposed scheme achieves a smaller delivery rate than the existing coded caching schemes in the literature when K > N >= 3. Furthermore, we argue that the delivery rate of the proposed scheme is within a constant multiplicative factor of 2 of the optimal delivery rate for cache capacities 1/K N >= 3.Comment: To appear in IEEE Transactions on Communication

From the last many years, Indian business organizations are implementing various corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities for the well-being of society. Nowadays, in the business sector, the concept of corporate social responsibility has achieved prominence from all avenues. Several Indian organizations are realized the importance of CSR activities with a view to promoting their brands. This study aims at to understand the perceptions of officials regarding CSR concept, the measure failed where they have initiated their CSR practices, their CSR approaches and major challenges faced by organizations in the implementation of CSR activities. Through the study, it is found that officials have different perceptions about CSR concept and adopted different approaches of CSR there are several challenges facing by the organizations in India. The study also focused on the advantages of CSR and the major aim of the organization for implementing CSR activities.

Ninety-five steers were grouped into 19 quintets on the basis of breed, weight and body type. One steer of each quintet was finished on a silage-limited grain ration (TT) and another of each quintet was finished on a grain ration during the 1978 winter (T2). The other three steers were wintered on pasture and in April 1978, one of each quintet was finished either on orchard grass, fescue and clover pasture (T3), a limited grain ration (T4) or a full grain ration (T5) during the 1978 summer. Ground beef containing approximately 20 percent fat was prepared from the semimembranosus muscle and brisket fat of the left side of each carcass. Simple carbohydrates, free amino compounds, fatty acid composition of neutral and polar lipids, flavor score, moisture and fat content were determined for ground beef prepared from steers in T1 through T5. Bacterial count was determined for ground beef prepared from T3, T4 and T5. Changes in simple sugar content and free amino compounds were studied as a function of frozen storage time on T3, T4 and T5. Flavor profile, volatile analysis of heated lyophilized water extract and Hunter color for raw and cooked patties were studied for ground beef prepared from 18 Hereford steers, 6 each for T3, T4 and T5. No significant difference was found for moisture or fat content among treatments. Ground beef from the low energy level T3 and T4 had a higher population of psychrophilic and lipolytic bacteria than ground beef from high energy T5. Ground beef from summer, grass-fed steers (T3) had less sugar, lower flavor score and higher linolenic acid in neutral and polar lipids. Other differences in the fatty acid composition of neutral and polar lipids among treatments were also observed. No significant differences among treatments were found for free amino compounds. There was an increase in free amino compounds and a decrease in simple sugar content during frozen storage time. A dairy or milky flavor which was observed by the flavor profile panel in grass fed beef was particularly unpleasant at higher intensities. Also, there was a lack of beef fat flavor in grass-fed beef. No significant qualitative or quantitative differences were found between volatiles of heated lyophilized water extract of ground beef prepared from grass-fed steers and that of grain-fed steers

PROBLEMS OF SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS IN INDIA

Social work education is considered as a practice oriented discipline. The students of this discipline are to apply their theory knowledge; concepts of chair shall work while addressing social problems or issues at the individual group and the community level in the field work. Social work education discipline is developing remarkably in the past few years in India. The present paper is the outcome of an empirical study of problems and challenges faced by social work students in the field work and academic course work. This study highlights the opinion of the students about teaching methods adopted, infrastructural facilities and curriculum. The study also highlights the perceptions of the students about social work education. The results of the study show that, majority of the students are facing many problems and challenges related to curriculum and fieldwork practice. There are some negative factors affecting the students such as inability of translating theory into fieldwork practice. Majority of the students are having a positive attitude towards infrastructural facilities provided by the institutes and teaching methods adopted by the institutes.   Article visualizations
