Neutral heavy lepton production at next high energy linear colliders
The discovery potential for detecting new heavy Majorana and Dirac neutrinos
at some recently proposed high energy colliders is discussed. These
new particles are suggested by grand unified theories and superstring-inspired
models. For these models the production of a single heavy neutrino is shown to
be more relevant than pair production when comparing cross sections and
neutrino mass ranges.
The process is calculated
including on-shell and off-shell heavy neutrino effects.
We present a detailed study of cross sections and distributions that shows a
clear separation between the signal and standard model contributions, even

Relaxing to a three dimensional brane junction
We suggest a mechanism which leads to 3+1 space-time dimensions. The Universe
assumed to have nine spatial dimensions is regarded as a special nonlinear
oscillatory system -- a kind of Einstein solid. There are p-brane solutions
which manifest as phase oscillations separating different phase states. The
presence of interactions allows for bifurcations of higher dimensional spaces
to lower dimensional ones in the form of brane junctions. We argue this is a

Populational fluctuation and spatial distribution of Alphitobius diaperinus (Panzer) (Coleoptera; Tenebrionidae) in a poultry house, Cascavel, Parana state, Brazil.
Abstract Knowledge of the population fluctuation and spatial distribution of pests is fundamental for establishing an appropriate control method. The population fluctuation and spatial distribution of the Alphitobius diaperinus in a poultry house in Cascavel, in the state of Parana, Brazil, was studied between October, 2001 and October 2002. Larvae and adults of the lesser mealworm were sampled weekly using Arends tube traps (n = 22) for six consecutive flock grow-outs. The temperature of the litter and of the poultry house was measured at the same locations of the tube traps. Beetle numbers increased continuously throughout all the sampling dates (average 5,137 in the first week and 18,494 insects on the sixth week). Significantly greater numbers of larvae were collected than adults (1 to 20 times in 95% of the sampling points). There was no correlation between temperature and the number of larvae and adults collected, therefore no fluctuation was observed during the sampling period. The population growth was correlated to litter re-use. The highest temperatures were observed in deep litter. The spatial distribution of larvae and adults in the poultry house was heterogeneous during the whole period of evaluation. Results suggest that monitoring in poultry houses is necessary prior to adopting and evaluating control measures due to the great variability of the insect distribution in the poultry house. Perspective: multi-dimensional coherent spectroscopy of perovskite nanocrystals
Recently, colloidal perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) have emerged as an exciting material platform for optoelectronic applications due to their combination of facile synthesis routes, quantum size effects, and exceptional optical properties among other favorable characteristics. Given the focus on their optoelectronic properties, spectroscopic characterization of PNCs is crucial to rational design of their structure and device implementation. In this Perspective, we discuss how multi-dimensional coherent spectroscopy (MDCS) can resolve exciton dynamics and circumvent inhomogeneous broadening to reveal underlying homogeneous spectral lineshapes. We highlight recent applications of MDCS to PNCs in the literature, and suggest compelling problems concerning their microscopic physics to be addressed by MDCS in the future
