Group delay in Bragg grating with linear chirp
An analytic solution for Bragg grating with linear chirp in the form of
confluent hypergeometric functions is analyzed in the asymptotic limit of long
grating. Simple formulas for reflection coefficient and group delay are
derived. The simplification makes it possible to analyze irregularities of the
curves and suggest the ways of their suppression. It is shown that the increase
in chirp at fixed other parameters decreases the oscillations in the group
delay, but gains the oscillations in the reflection spectrum. The conclusions
are in agreement with numerical calculations.Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures, submitted to Opt. Com
Relativistic instant-form approach to the structure of two-body composite systems
A new approach to the electroweak properties of two-particle composite
systems is developed. The approach is based on the use of the instant form of
relativistic Hamiltonian dynamics. The main novel feature of this approach is
the new method of construction of the matrix element of the electroweak current
operator. The electroweak current matrix element satisfies the relativistic
covariance conditions and in the case of the electromagnetic current also the
conservation law automatically. The properties of the system as well as the
approximations are formulated in terms of form factors. The approach makes it
possible to formulate relativistic impulse approximation in such a way that the
Lorentz-covariance of the current is ensured. In the electromagnetic case the
current conservation law is ensured, too. The results of the calculations are
unambiguous: they do not depend on the choice of the coordinate frame and on
the choice of "good" components of the current as it takes place in the
standard form of light--front dynamics. Our approach gives good results for the
pion electromagnetic form factor in the whole range of momentum transfers
available for experiments at present time, as well as for lepton decay constant
of pion.Comment: 26 pages, Revtex, 5 figure
Running coupling: Does the coupling between dark energy and dark matter change sign during the cosmological evolution?
In this paper we put forward a running coupling scenario for describing the
interaction between dark energy and dark matter. The dark sector interaction in
our scenario is free of the assumption that the interaction term is
proportional to the Hubble expansion rate and the energy densities of dark
sectors. We only use a time-variable coupling (with the scale factor
of the universe) to characterize the interaction . We propose a
parametrization form for the running coupling in which the
early-time coupling is given by a constant , while today the coupling is
given by another constant, . For investigating the feature of the running
coupling, we employ three dark energy models, namely, the cosmological constant
model (), the constant model (), and the time-dependent
model (). We constrain the models with the current
observational data, including the type Ia supernova, the baryon acoustic
oscillation, the cosmic microwave background, the Hubble expansion rate, and
the X-ray gas mass fraction data. The fitting results indicate that a
time-varying vacuum scenario is favored, in which the coupling crosses
the noninteracting line () during the cosmological evolution and the sign
changes from negative to positive. The crossing of the noninteracting line
happens at around , and the crossing behavior is favored at about
1 confidence level. Our work implies that we should pay more attention
to the time-varying vacuum model and seriously consider the phenomenological
construction of a sign-changeable or oscillatory interaction between dark
sectors.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures; refs added; to appear in EPJ
Phenomenology of the Lense-Thirring effect in the Solar System
Recent years have seen increasing efforts to directly measure some aspects of
the general relativistic gravitomagnetic interaction in several astronomical
scenarios in the solar system. After briefly overviewing the concept of
gravitomagnetism from a theoretical point of view, we review the performed or
proposed attempts to detect the Lense-Thirring effect affecting the orbital
motions of natural and artificial bodies in the gravitational fields of the
Sun, Earth, Mars and Jupiter. In particular, we will focus on the evaluation of
the impact of several sources of systematic uncertainties of dynamical origin
to realistically elucidate the present and future perspectives in directly
measuring such an elusive relativistic effect.Comment: LaTex, 51 pages, 14 figures, 22 tables. Invited review, to appear in

Holographic dark energy with time varying parameter
We consider the holographic dark energy model in which the model parameter
evolves slowly with time. First we calculate the evolution of EoS
parameter as well as the deceleration parameter in this generalized version of
holographic dark energy (GHDE). Depending on the parameter , the phantom
regime can be achieved earlier or later compare with original version of
holographic dark energy. The evolution of energy density of GHDE model is
investigated in terms of parameter . We also show that the time-dependency
of can effect on the transition epoch from decelerated phase to
accelerated expansion. Finally, we perform the statefinder diagnostic for GHDE
model and show that the evolutionary trajectories of the model in plane
are strongly depend on the parameter .Comment: 16 pages, 4 figures, accepted by Astrophys Space Sc
Phantom Divide Crossing with General Non-minimal Kinetic Coupling
We propose a model of dark energy consists of a single scalar field with a
general non-minimal kinetic couplings to itself and to the curvature. We study
the cosmological dynamics of the equation of state in this setup. The coupling
terms have the form and
where
and are coupling parameters and their dimensions depend on the type
of function . We obtain the conditions required for phantom divide
crossing and show numerically that a cosmological model with general
non-minimal derivative coupling to the scalar and Ricci curvatures can realize
such a crossing.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures. Accepted for publication in Gen. Rel. Grav.

The Relation Between the Surface Brightness and the Diameter for Galactic Supernova Remnants
In this work, we have constructed a relation between the surface brightness
() and diameter (D) of Galactic C- and S-type supernova remnants
(SNRs). In order to calibrate the -D dependence, we have carefully
examined some intrinsic (e.g. explosion energy) and extrinsic (e.g. density of
the ambient medium) properties of the remnants and, taking into account also
the distance values given in the literature, we have adopted distances for some
of the SNRs which have relatively more reliable distance values. These
calibrator SNRs are all C- and S-type SNRs, i.e. F-type SNRs (and S-type SNR
Cas A which has an exceptionally high surface brightness) are excluded. The
Sigma-D relation has 2 slopes with a turning point at D=36.5 pc: (at 1
GHz)=8.4 D
WmHzster (for
WmHzster and D36.5 pc) and (at 1
GHz)=2.7 10 D
WmHzster (for
WmHzster and D36.5 pc). We discussed the theoretical
basis for the -D dependence and particularly the reasons for the change
in slope of the relation were stated. Added to this, we have shown the
dependence between the radio luminosity and the diameter which seems to have a
slope close to zero up to about D=36.5 pc. We have also adopted distance and
diameter values for all of the observed Galactic SNRs by examining all the
available distance values presented in the literature together with the
distances found from our -D relation.Comment: 45 pages, 2 figures, accepted for publication in Astronomical and

Model-independent dark energy test with sigma_8 using results from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe
By combining the recent WMAP measurements of the cosmic microwave background
anisotropies and the results of the recent luminosity distance measurements to
type-Ia supernovae, we find that the normalization of the matter power spectrum
on cluster scales, sigma_8, can be used to discriminate between dynamical
models of dark energy (quintessence models) and a conventional cosmological
constant model (LCDM).Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures. Additional discussion and reference, matches PRD
